When I introduce Band-Maid to someone who hasn't heard of them before, I usually start with Domination live so they can see all the band members displaying their skills, then Onset to show off the instrumentation even more and finally Wonderland live as Saiki uses her full vocal range in it, including gliding through 3 octaves smoothly at one point and moving from high to low registers so easily. Ooh, did you say Ningen Isu next?! Yeah!
Cool reaction! Fun fact: MISA was a huge Jellyfish fan growing up. Had them as her ringtone all throughout high school.
Welcome to the Maidiacs, Eric.
You wanted a singer, hey you´re in luck, this band has two awesome singers.
Thx for sharing Band-Maid to the world. 👍
I was watching him and how he slowly had a small smile appear on his face was the song progressed. I think you might want to direct him at the new release of Puzzle to really hear Saiki's vocal power.
Good shout Mr Greylocke.👍
Or No God. Saiki's amazing in there and whole band nailed it. Plus more prog element!
God they are so good. Good reaction from Eric, seems lie a really cool guy
Good reaction from Eric? yeah i guess it was in the sense that he actually talked and gave praise but for the entire video he looked like an axel rose wannabe watching schindlers list.
MISA MISA MISA!!!!!
I don't know Eric personally but i think he'll say B-M are the best thing to happen since a lamb wandered into his garden & fell asleep on his BBQ until it smelled delicious....probably.😏
'Lo Sir Gary of Holloway. Hmmmm, lamb or a mutton lettuce and tomato from Miracle Max's.
@@greylocke100 Either, Mr greylocke, cos they both sound delicious. Is Miracle Max's a diner?
@@GaryHolloway-810 You'll need to ask Wesley, Inigo or Fezzic that.
When Eric saw Kanami's headdress, he decided to drop the bandana and switch to this….probably.😏
@@cats-eyes Haha. Yep he's already got a collection of them. I see what you're doing with the "Probably".😁
Get Eric's reaction to Dice or Freedom live. That way he can get Saiki's vocals.
Tried to spend a Buck at the store. Had to trim the antlers to get the Buck inside.
Onset holds a special place in my heart but their instrumentals have progressed a lot since then hey.
this is awesome
Throw him another one with Saiki in it!
Band-Maid always brings an ONSET of love, appreciation and happiness to their viewers. Why? Because they're so damn good -- good-natured, good-hearted, good-looking, and beyond good as writers, players and performers. Wow, right?! Thx, Joel!
btw - I think Eric needs to see the complete Band-Maid with Saiki... maybe Puzzle or Warning official MV. Also, if you're going to do an instrumental for the first time, maybe From Now On. 👍
Yeah I find most instrumentals tend to lean into have a bit of prog to them simply because they have to to keep the music interesting. A voice can carry the variance and “journey” a song takes you largely on its own on for simpler songs, but for instrumentals you have to take the listener on a journey in some way and more straightforward songs can’t do that on their own so the answer tends to very naturally be prog.
That’s a longwinded way saying I agree with Eric, it is a bit prog lol.
This is the song that made me a Maidiac when MISA tucks her pick so she can slap.
Joel, pick the right song Dude, lol. I saw the look on your face when he said that. It’s okay, it’s cool you’re doing this. I enjoy them regardless
In the "激ロック (Geki Rock) Interview" on 2015.11.13, MISA said, "JELLYFISH has been my favorite since elementary school."
She must be delighted with this video.
Quote
"MISA:私はTHE SMASHING PUMPKINSとか、UK/USロックが好きで、グランジとか重い音楽も好きです。小学校から好きなのはJELLYFISHです。王道だけど、BLURも好きですね。"
So, you choose onset? It is a difficult tune. It is kind of monotone, but very technically advanced. Not everyone likes it. I guess a skilled musician will like it though. "Dont hold back" and "From now on" are also instrumental and maybe a bit more varied and also very skilled.
Ah, now I have seen the reaction. And he wanted a singer. Lots to choose from then :)
What a bad ass song, isn't it? Killer KILLER song!! But.... Would it be the video I'd show to a first timer?? Mmmm... Maybe not. Not an instrumental. Don't get me wrong! Onset is a fucking amazing song, but if you want to show someone Band-Maid as a whole to someone for the first time, you HAVE to have Saiki singing. Just saying 🤷
Some great choices but why not try Show Ya an 80s all female band who are still rocking it with the best. Or of course Nemophila. LOL
I love the instrumentals by Band Maid, but wouldn't use one to introduce them to some one. The latest "Puzzle" would be my choice.
I think it depends on who you're playing them for. Musicians are gonna appreciate the instrumentals more than the average listener who keys in on vocals - kinda the same as where the Japanese lyrics are actually a hurdle for non-speakers.
You should really watch the videos you show to your guests yourself first. Too often you waste their first reaction to new bands by bad choices.
