Great Win by John, the best surfer on the day won. Was just a matter of time for him to be a pipe master. Also congrats to Medina, his consistency is scary. The guy is a beast of a competitor and athlete. Lets hope for an exciting rivalry.

Medina played it perfectly at the beginning. Getting 2 good scores right away... then he sits on priority while JJF goes crazy underneath priority. Wonder how it would look like if John got ahead early and Medina had to scramble more.

I made a comment recently after seeing a shortened clip from this site of the men's 2020 Pipe Final and from the waves they put on that short clip of this Final Medina won that Final and I said it was wrong that Medina didn't win the Final..But now your site has put up all the waves of both Surfers In this Final and including John John's last epic tube ride with only minutes left ,which was a definite winning wave for local Hawaiian surfer and Legend of the sport John John Florence..Medina deserving lead this Final from the start and held onto this lead right up until there was only minutes left..but that was when John John again showed he's amazing surfing skills as a tube rider and pulled off the win with a beautiful backhand tube that not many could of come out of ..yes I'm glad a got to see this last John John wave because up until then having only watched your clip without that last wave Medina looked like he had been robbed from hometown favouritism which I did say was the case..but he wasn't robbed and John John is a worthy winner of this 2020 Pipeline Masters

first two waves medina caught were misjudged (or more accurately johns exaggerated), all the waves john caught after where smaller and scored higher, pretty sure i'm not the only one who saw that.
I recall last year final against italo, italo caught medina in a similar situation, getting the first wave and they scored a 7.83 being the first of the heat.
That 4.33 was more like a 5.3 to me, just watch john´s second score the 4.77, it was a way smaller wave than Gabes, easier to stall, also front side to John and still gave him a higher score, just saying, then if you watch johns last backup score, the one that flipped the game, it was the same wave that scored 4.33 to gabriel, same drop, same time in the barrel. Just watch the replays. Anyways congrats both finalists!! amazing final!! but medina won to my eyes!

Medina é a sequência natural do Kelly Slater.

The INCREDIBLE INFERIORITY of female surfing was once again displayed here. Even the best female surfer is far worse than the worst male pro surfer. It’s so cruel of the WSL to keep showing the TOTAL INFERIORITY of female surfing.

So? What’s your point? Regardless of whether a surfer is stronger or more skilled than another doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy watching them in the ocean. The men will be stronger. The women will be more graceful. Both enjoyable to watch. Both advance the sport of surfing. Both earn the competition sponsors money with viewership and following purchases.
In addition, when you put any human who has practiced at a surf location 50-500 times up against another who has practiced there 1-10 times, the former is going to be better every time. The women don’t get much practice at pipe, much less the chance to complete. Of course they aren’t going to be as polished.

Im not a huge fan of women's shortboarding- they're graceful and stylish and kill it on a longboard- but I'm gonna bet Steph Gilmore surfs better than you.

      What an INCREDIBLY UNNECESSARY comment.

@@Skantezz Rather, what an INCREDIBLY TRUE comment, and therefore MORE NECESSARY THAN EVER in today’s empire of lies. All honest observers know that female surfing is INFINITELY INFERIOR, and that even the very best female surfer is much worse than even the worst male pro surfer. Reality is radically “sexist.”

@@jacksonesq2778 Inferiority does not mean no entertainment value. This was never a competition between men and women, that’s why they have two different categories. So again, what an incredibly unnecessary and presumptuous comment.
