    SendIt Steve I have been a subscriber sense you started and just so you know if things don’t work out I will still respect you for giving it your best. I have done professional builds turning old school buses into Toter homes so I know how hard something like this is for a first timer. We all learn from our mistakes heaven’s know that I have and I continue to learn with each new build. I am not in anyway saying it will not turn out fine but just so you know regardless we are behind you 100 💯 percent. Go get um kid and kick it’s ass while your doing it. Thanks for taking something extremely hard and challenging to do. And keep your videos coming.

    When you do the final welds I would recommend that you weld the frames together in a Z pattern. It puts less stress and fatigue on the rails and makes them much stronger and more reliable.

    I bought a real welder as your calling it. A hobart 190 mig and i run it with a generac 7500 generator. I bought it to rebuild my f350 steel flatbed and i have changed my 9 ton flatbed trls wood dovetail to an angle iron setup. I have also had my pintle mount that my family member made break and i rewelded it. I love that im portable but when i get my own place i will get hard line power so it aint such a pain to set up.

    Huh I have never un hooked the battery when I welded on my truck. Never had a problem, and I have welded with coat hanger and 2 tanks of map gas in the middle of the woods at 2am before.Trail fixes are the best!!!!

    • @MySledgeHammer
      @MySledgeHammer Před 4 lety

      So you didn't actually arc weld anything while out in the woods doing your trail fixes now did you LOL. You can gas weld anytime but try arc welding and leave the vehicles batteries connected. You run the risk of frying the computer and anything else related but not all the time. Sometimes you might get away with it but best not to take the chance. One more thing never let anyone touch what your welding on such as a area of a truck because a good chance they will get knocked on their butt and if their hand that touches it is damp you may have to give them CPR. Thanks

    Very cool rig. There is no problem with using a harbor freight welder. It's only a power supply so as long as you use it correctly it can weld up to its limits. Low lifespan and low duty cycle but it does weld. I mean think about it. You are putting a current through a wire it's the same as any other mag welder.

    You should of cut those to a Z shape. That would of gave much more surface area to weld to then plating would of made it stronger than a standard rail. They would of locked together a bit more. You can do it how you are doing it but it won’t last nearly as long.

    If you're going to use a level I'd suggest using a 8 foot level over a 3 foot level to check how true it is. You have well over 8 feet of material there so that tiny level isnt really going to tell you a thing and it can all still be off. I wouldn't use a 3 foot level when I check to see if a wall I'm framing is plumbed up and true. Just something to think about and maybe double check with a more proper level! I think it is awesome that you take these projects on to try and learn. Just be safe and triple check everything in the end!
