  • If this video helps you can buy @fixed1t a coffee www.buymeacoff.... Thx. This video is about Repairing Garden Solar Panel or Solar Cell LED Lights. In this throw away world these lamps are bought for a few pounds used for a while then thrown apparently dead. But they can be revived.

    Thank you so much for that advice I ran into the same problem and as you said I don’t turn mine on and off either so I’ll just take the battery out for winter storage! I wasn’t going to watch this because my problem was with Ball Stake lights I’m so glad I did! Thanks again from N.J. USA!

    Thanks for the clear & helpful instructions. The on/off switch is actually useful for resetting solar lights (we've been using them a long time here in Australia) when battery memory or shortder days of sunlight causes their charge to become less effective; you set the switch to "off" & place the PV panel in direct sunlight for a couple of days, then when you switch it back on again. This basically stops the unit from discharging itself before it has finished charging & is the same step many people don't bother to do when they first buy them (then wonder why they don't work). Btw, the background 'music' was louder than your voice in some places & made it hard to hear you at times, may be better to make it softer next time.

    I bought some similar ones but they are the colour changing type. Before putting them in the garden I used silicone sealant on the underside of the solar panel, and between the top of the panel and the plastic surround using my finger and wiping off the excess. Waxoyl on the switch. Then brushed 2 coats of epoxy resin on the circuit board and soldered joints. Like you I also put grease on the battery contacts. It will be interesting to see if they last more than the one year these things usually last for.

      FIXED1T They are still working perfectly. I left one as standard and that one stopped working as the legs on the led went rusty and the led broke away from the circuit board. This year I bought solar powered string lights of 100 leds and gave them the same treatment.

    You should use a hot glue and secure the wires which comes from the solar panel. It should works and give you a rain protection. Solar panel should be glued in all surface because water comes by it and it causes that solar panel goes dead.

    • @fixed1t
      @fixed1t  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes you can! but the solar panels are generally more expensive than buying the built lights, its not just about have the solar cell its also the battery charging circuit etc etc. I know I was going to do some myself. All my videos they come and came about from difficulties I have myself When I fix them, I then replicate the problem and the fix and if it works consistently I then make and publish the video.
