I have to say I’ve become addicted to these videos. Incredible craftsmanship, fantastic playing and an impeccable t-shirt collection. 👍🏻
Hi Jonny. Many thanks for your comment, it is very much appreciated. Pleased you have enjoyed the films and the T shirts.
To be honest I’ve had a bit of good will stick over them. At the time I didn’t realise how many I used. So I’ll keep it going now. Many thanks again, best wishes from a sunny South Wales..Mike
This lymphoma survivor thanks you for your support.

Came for the great guitar build, and stayed for the beautiful playing at the end. Nuff said. :-)

I know this video is old...but, I just came across this site and this guitar is wonderful...
Great work.
Thank you. Only today I was playing it, and thought I should do a new film of the same guitar. Cherry Red I’m thinking and put more content into the build. This guitar build was the first I filmed and I now feel I can do a better job next time. Your comment is very much appreciated, many thanks. Mike
Beautiful!! I wish I could afford one!
Thank you Eric, glad you liked it. Mike
How in the world could this video get a thumbs down?.... Outstanding job!
Hi Apache. Many thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the film. Merry Christmas to you Mike.
Another masterpiece, excellent luthier, excellent guitarist ... Congratulations !!! Bravo!!!
Beautiful!!! Excellent job!!!
Many thanks for your comment, pleased you enjoyed for film. Mike
Beautiful job. All that handwork is why custom guitars , or anything, costs money. Skill and time ain't free, people.
Hi JT. Many thanks for your comment it is very appreciated, pleased you liked the build. best wishes from Wales Mike.
I made a strat style guitar, neck included, about thirty years ago which wasn't too bad for a first try & it is a thrill to play something you made for the first time.
Bruce Caldwell Bruce your so right. I’m lucky enough to own Gibson’s and Fenders etc. But I only play my own, just so satisfying. I made a PRS style about 18 years ago. It’s my main guitar to play in my lessons or recording. Many thanks for you comment Mike
@@mitarrguitars I watched your tele build too & both are just gorgeous. I envy your talent. A friend of mine had a similar guitar to this one except it had only one P-90 & had the TV yellow finish & the truss rod cover said Les Paul TV Model. I think it was a 58. He traded it for a 71 Gold Top.
Bruce Caldwell Hi Bruce the one pickup guitars are call juniors. The two pickup are junior special that’s all. Great guitars and the gold top. Mike
Thanks for the nice build video, the guitar looks awesome!
Kelsius Substaire Thanks for the comment Kelsius. Mike
What a great video and what a lovely guitar
Thank you Joe. Best wishes Mike
I smoked a fat joint and watched this. Very relaxing. I really need a double cut lp w/ just 1 p90, 1 vol, 1 tone.

Yet another superb build. Thank You Mike.
Thank you Allun for you comment. New film start Saturday with Oliver. It’s about 12 weeks work with filming and then it’s as to be edited. Hope you see it. Mike
You make it look like it’s as much fun to build as it is to play. Most excellent job sir!
Pete Dazer Thanks for the comment Pete....Mike
Hello from Pennsylvania, USA! Morning coffee while watching your entire video documentary. Great editing as it makes all the difference. Great way to start the day! Thank you!
Thank you. Please you enjoyed the video. Best wishes from Wales. Mike
Another amazing build. Just amazing. I'm wanting one of his builds more and more each day.
Jimmy swag Cheers Jimmy, many thanks. A new build will be published around November. I’m running a bit late with it to be honest. It’s s Stratocaster style guitar, but it got a 6mm Flame Maple cap on a Mahogany Body, with a heavy flame maple neck. It’s looking good. Mike
@@mitarrguitars can't wait to see it and please do get in touch . I would love to buy one from you or even have you make one if you're interested .
Jimmy swag Hi Jimmy, I don’t think I could take another new build on at the moment, I’m so busy. But let me have a think about if I can let another of my builds go. Where are you base Jimmy. ? Mike
@@mitarrguitars I am in Montreal ,canada
Jimmy swag That must be a lovely place to live Jimmy. The CITES certificates makes it very difficult to ship/export now outside Europe to the USA and Canada, and same the other way with Rosewood. And very soon Mahogany is going to be added to the list. I will make enquire but not holding much hope. I am going to a special guitar Auction in December which do deal with the CITES. I see what I can find out. Email me Jimmy in the week, I’ll sent you some photos of my other build I have here. Just for you to see what I get up to. Been good talking to you. Mike

Skman22 So glad you enjoyed the film, many thanks Mike
I know this is an old video now, but what a great silent tutorial for building the LP Jr Doublecut. Thanks
Hi FrogPedals, many thank for you comment glad you enjoyed the film.. Stay Safe... Mike
@@mitarrguitars One other thing. Did you set neck angle at the neck pocket?
Hi FrogPedal.
No I put the angle on the neck, it’s a little easier to get it right for me. It’s the same method when I do for a PRS type guitar. Get the angle right on the neck, cut the neck pocket. The guitar shape can just about anything. Hope you enjoyed the film. Mike
Nicely done! Glad to see you moved the strap button to the top horn. The originals were right behind the neck heel and very head stock heavy!?!?! On the originals the neck P/U was right up to the fretboard. It put the pole pieces in the sweet spot / right on the octave node. Something to consider if you ever build another.
Hi TJ Thanks for the comments very useful. I’m no expert in vintage, I worked of a photo that was in Guitarist Magazine for guidance. And build what I liked, I changed a few things like headstock angle. It turned out a lovely guitar to play, which is the many thing. Glad you enjoyed the film. Best wishes Mike.
Beautiful!👍😎🎸🎶
VERY NICE
Wow, just found your channel what an amazing skill level you have i am spellbound watching your craftsmanship, best video i have seen in a very long time . Thank you for all your hard work in making and sharing this video and showing everyone your amazing skills. Thank you. Cheers. Andy. Scotland.
Andrew Reynolds Thank you so much for that kind comment, glad you enjoyed the film. Mike
Nice work
You are incredibly amazing! A huge mentor to me for ideas, and I love that you bring family into it 😀! Building my own right now (LP Special SC, P-90’s). Great technique and step process in great order....God Bless !
Hello Chris. Fantastic comment, I thank you very much. And to credit me has a mentor to you is my pleasure. My next film will be a single cut something like a Les Paul. Its going to have front binding but the construction and hardware etc will be the same. Thanks again Stay safe.. Mike
I like your style of building. I wish u could teach me.
Hi Jay. Once again thank you for your comments. Glad you have enjoyed my documentary films. Well in a way I am teaching you though the films. If you do have a go at building your own guitar, I’m more than happy to help you along the way. Many thanks. Stay safe. Mike
Lovely work. And very relaxing to watch somebody do this without all the pain I seem to suffer. Really nice.
Nick Gordon ... Nick thank you for your comment, it’s hard building and filming/editing the job. But I’m pleased with the guitar. Just about finished a 52 Telecaster build and filming. Should be on CZcams by December. Thanks again Mike
I'll be looking out for that. I'm currently building a Tele style , but you show yours before I show you mine. LOL.
again, great work.
Gorgeous! I remember Keith playing a cherry red one in The New Barbarians. Simple and essential guitar.
Hello sonny boy. The guitar turn out very well. The first Junior i have made. It plays wonderful and is getting better with aged. It got me thinking to do some type of single cut build the summer. Thanks for you comments sonny, it is very much appreciated.. Mike
@@mitarrguitars the single cut would be awesome...
quality and classy build. im on guitar 4 now,and iv picked up a few nice little tricks from this! thanks!
Dan Thomas Well thank you very much Dan for your comment, just editing a new film of a 52 Telecaster build. It will be Publish it in about 3 Weeks time. Mike
If it was built in 2015 it is NOT a 1959 Les Paul Junior. It is a 2015 Lee Paul Jr. Still it is a nice video. Really beautiful and great sounding guitar.
David Bennett Thanks David, can I take that has a like overhaul. Many thank, it more important to me that you enjoyed the build never mind what the name is. Cheers Mike 👍
I thought I did everything the hard way until I found this guy. Nice work though.
Junior Kong Hi Junior Kong, just do what works for you. There are dozen of different way to do jobs. Work with what you have and how you feel comfortable doing them. The wood is just so expensive these day you don’t what to mess it up. Has long as you get the result you are after and work safe in a clean workshop or garage in my case, than happy days. Hope you enjoyed the film. Best wishes Mike.
@@mitarrguitars I did enjoy the film Mike and thanks.
Thanks for sharing this, so valuable!!
Eric Weijers Glad you enjoyed it Eric. 👍Mike
Very nice build. Love how you directed the video. Nice one.
Amin Dehnavi Thank you soon much for your comment. It’s a lot of work, but the results our satisfying. Hoping to start a new build in March.... Mike

Many thanks again Mike - that’s really helpful. I can visualise the jig well enough to knock one up in the next couple of days. Really enjoying watching your excellent videos - they are super quality and well worth watching. Great job!
Another masterpiece! Mesmerized again!
Love watching the way you build your guitars should be more of it When you watch Gibson making guitars in there factory on mass up to 750 per day and your making your instrument from scratch with such attention to detail and skill you should be very proud of what your putting out amazing product cheers Shane for OZ
Hi Shane. Many thanks for that wonderful comment, it is very much appreciated. Pleased you enjoyed the film. all best from Wales.. Mike
Wow - simply amazing

Awesome finish!
Luca Bruno . Thank you, for your comment,.Not done that finish before so your learning all the time.Mike
Great content
Thank you David...Mike
GREAT LUTHIER ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ & 👏👏👏👏👏
Yet another crackin' watch Mike so thanks again! I had TWO cups o' tea whilst watching this one. The thing I love the most (I realised at the end) is the complete LACK of any CNC or similar. No offence (to them!) but in the same sort of videos from say the States, there is a LOT less handwork and a lot MORE 'press the button, shove it in and catch it on the other side'! Cheers.
TheRaptor_XX. Thank you so much for that comment. One of the best comments I have ever received. I thank you.
Hope you enjoy the next film, on a Stratocaster Build. It will be published around October/ November. Filming and building takes a lot of time, hope you will enjoy it. Many thanks Mike
That is beyond cool
Thank you Justin, I was very pleased with it, plays fabulous. Thanks for you comment I appreciate it. Mike
Hi Justin. A Single cut is being made and filmed now. Early day I’ve only just start it. Mike
We need more of these fantastic builds!!! You are a true artist! The '52 Tele you did is equally great! I don't know why you did this one in TV white, I would have done this guy in cherry red, but that's just me. Your attention to detail is truly remarkable. I'm so inspired to build one of these myself! Thanxz
Audio Tech Labs Hi Audio, it’s TV Yellow. But I’m going to build a single cut in the future, and that will be Cherry Red. I couldn’t make I’m mind up on the colour. Both are great, but by popularity maybe The TV Yellow is just in front. So that was my thinking, not on what I liked. Hope you enjoyed the film. I’m Doing a Stratocaster at the monument, filming ad been slow. Doing it all your self, is time consuming. Should be published in November. Many thank Mike.
Great documentation of the build and we get to here how she sounds. ;) Beautiful
Raimondi's Guitar World Thank you for your kind comment. The guitar plays fabulous. Mike
Great luthier.
Michael Sowers Michael Thank you Mike.
Very nice guitar build, my preference is certainlly seeing the wood more than the colour, but that yellow is an awesome colour!
sarblade .. Not to sure about that one in TV Yellow. The more TV white yes let see some of the grain for sure. It’s was my first solid colour I had done to be honest. Most or all of my builds are trans colours or stains. But many thanks for you comment hope you enjoy the film, anyways Mike. 👍
I love watching you work. You truly make beautiful guitars, and inspire me to want to do the same!
Donovan Lucibello Hello Donovan Thank you for your kind comment. I’m planning on a new guitar build shortly.. Mike
Beautiful work! I live in an apartment now, but once i have a house and have some space for a workshop, i think a junior will be my first guitar build, and it's cool to see one go through the process
Eric Altpeter .. Thank you Eric, you don't need some much space. Just do one job at a time. I hope your dream of an LP junior build comes off.
I'm just start to build and film a 52 Telecaster, hope you enjoy that. Be posted around September 2017. Mike
You have made skills my friend.
Thorpenator Many Thanks Mike
Beautiful work.
CristobalMuerto Thank you very much for your comment.. Mike
M I Tarr guitars I have recently starting building a few LP Jnr style guitars myself so I know firsthand how difficult it is to attain that level of quality. Thanks for a great and inspiring video.
Fabulous video thanks a lot appreciate it :-) !!
Yes Please. I LOVE TV JR'S! Gorgeous!

Masterful job, and very inspiring!
I had a 1959 LP Special TV that I traded away many years ago.
Wish I had the skills to build one.
Lee Warren Thank you Lee for your comment.. Mike
This is the real deal... true craftsmanship!
uncle or not. It is fantastic to see such craftsmanship and dedication in what I believe to be a piece of art. If this doesn't inspire the younger generation to get away from the technical stuf and get their hands working nothing will. keep up the great work Micheal, how many TShirts have you got.
Very nice, a tortoiseshell pickguard would also look great on this guitar.
Hi Mandobird, Thanks for your comment very much appreciated. And I think you right, a tortoiseshell would look good. Best wishes. Mike.
Excellent video and process. Thank you for sharing.
Ed Caffey Thank you very much Ed, for your comment. Mike
A master work Michael. Just beautiful. I'm doing my first build of a set-neck flying V. It's tough enough - I can't imagine all the cutting and shaping right now. LPJ's and Tele's are my other favorites so this was a real treat.
Cheers from NC.
Count Von D Many thanks, I've just finishing a 52 Telecaster build documentary. It will be published by the end of the year. It is hard work doing the guitar build and filming. Mike
I've been a musician for over 35+ years and always wanted to build my very own electric guitar from scratch. Your build inspires me to get off my duff and get crackin'. You make it look so effortless but I know you've probably messed up a thousand times along the way to get where you are with your skills today. I'm always in a hurry and just need to learn to relax, have patience and learn to accept the failures as they come along (which I am certain they will). Wish me luck!
Ron Williams Hi Ron, not sure if I have made Thousands of mistakes, but it hundreds with doubt. 😂
The Les Paul build was not without them. On the neck headstock angle and the paint finishing cause problems.
Best advice Ron is think hard about what ever job you are doing and how your going to approach it, many time before going for it. Specially if it’s something you have not done before. Also there is more than one way to do any job on building a guitar. Work with the tool you have to hand. Also many mistakes can be put right. Go for it Ron. Thank you for the great comment. Best wishes Mike
@@mitarrguitars hi man, how do you "place" the trussrod to the guitar neck? I mean that green stuff You use to cover it? What product you use to do that?
@ lucas rf The green stuff is just a very thin paper tape which stops the glue going into the truss rod slot. Mike
Fascinating video great work and playing from a true craftsman and gentleman.
what a brilliant video and a real craftsman at work you should be proud of your self mike what an honour it is to know and watch such perfection
Always been my favorite type and yours is gorgeous beyond words! Thanx for a totally mouth watering video. ...and your playing ain't bad neither. cheers
Jonny Beck Hi Jonny. Thank you for your comment, I had not built one before. It turn out and plays fabulous, one to keep. Mike
Beautiful. Thanks for posting.

Well done and really good playing.
Thank you Ricardo. Mike

NomeX Thanks for your comment, I’ve just uploaded a new video on a Telecaster build you may like. Mike
I am actually piecing together a Tele/Bass VI build with a Rio Grande Muy Grande Twangbucker pickup/bridge. I'm going to have to enlarge the route for the slanted humbucker. Thankfully this is going to be a Barncaster build.
Wow, great documentary! Enjoyed properly :-)
