  • If you've been watching my channel you know I've had my 2010 Lexus RX 350 since it was brand new. My teenage son is now driving it. I liked my 2010 so much I decided to get a 2016 model with all the same specs. So this is an honest review of comparing both vehicles, the good and the bad. Enjoy!

    Sir, Just found your channel and sitting here going through all of your 2010 RX videos. I had a 2002 RX300 that my wife and I bought new and drove for 200K trouble free miles. It was finally time to upgrade and get some newer tech...So, we recently purchased a very clean, used 2010 RX350. Anytime I buy an used vehicle, I like to go through and replace the fluids and normal wear items and start my own clock on routine maintenance. Same for upgrading anything where possible, such as LEDs to replace old style bulbs, better speakers, etc. Anyway, you videos are really helping me to learn quickly the nuances of the 2010 gen of the RX. Always great to find someone who has owned one since new and has already learned the tricks as it were to doing various things. Great videos, to the point and very helpful for the new owner/DYI'er to follow. Sub'ed and following. Thx for the awesome content! :)

    In the 2010 there's a menu setting to unlock the whole car when you touch the driver or passenger door handle. That will save you the step of having to open the drivers side door and hitting the unlock button if you need to get into the back seat.

    All the 0-60s are pretty much the same. My 2015 Sienna had the same dash screen as that 2016 RX, no biggie. I sold my 2010 RX 450h awhile ago, but just picked up another 2010 RX 450h to use for road trips because our Tesla Y is too much a headache to plan well ahead for superchargers. Also, in snow country, weather changes can route to areas with few gas stations, and even fewer superchargers. Like getting stuck in Nevada last winter, having to drive around the Sierras on 395 to Bakersfield, there were few gas stations. Who knows about the superchargers, even today. Funny how the RX 450h felt like an electric car in parking lots and at stop lights with the engine off so much that when we got the Tesla, we weren't that impressed. When we test drove used 450hs, even models with 220k on the odometer felt quiet and smooth. Great video. I prefer the timeless round shapes and everything else looks the same. It's like going shopping for clothes every year- same stuff, slightly different.

      Totally agree, when Lexus added all the sharpness and spindle grill, I thought it was so ugly. The 2010 has a timeless look to it, especially from the back- it is uniform and futuristic looking. We traded ours in for a Highlander Hybrid to get the 3rd row, but always missed it, so we just got another 2010 RX 450h. It feels so close to an electric car in the city. And is no comparison to a 2022 Highlander, the 2010 Lexus is so much better in so many ways. When looking for another 2010 RX, we testdrove ones that had as much as 220k and they were smooooth and quiet. Even now, when we drive around for fun, we don't see a single car on the road that we would rather have long term. It's like our own secret.

    Which one the more comfortable, less sporty, more relaxed ride (softer suspension, less steering resistance, etc.)? Did they start moving away in 2016 from a 100% focus on comfort and adding a little bit more "sport?" Hi @evamaynard3021 thanks for posting, I read all the comments. Yes the 2008 MDX was a good car and I almost bought that when I bought my 2010 RX350! It was between those 2 cars. What I would recommend for you is a 2015 RX350. That was the last version of the RX350 body style. Of course if you like your neighbors 2017 you can always get a 2016 or newer.

I'm 6'3" and just bought a 2007 RX350 with 115,000kms (about 70,000 miles) and would like the seat to go back a bit. It's definitely snug for me. Did you modify seat position at all? You will see the biggest improvement in the 2016 model because it's over 6" longer and 2" wider than your 2007. You also get 2 more inches of legroom in the driver seat. The 2010 will be in the middle of those two. I didn't modify either one of mine.

      @@CarolinaCowboys Thank you for letting me know. I am listing in detail some of the issues that we have been experiencing in our 2021 Lexus RX350.
      Vehicle Navigation system constantly stops navigating and working properly in the middle of a route.
      Cruise control- After using the cruise control at a certain speed and then trying to reset it at a different speed afterwards, sometimes it keeps setting the cruise control speed at the previous setting and needs to be turned off and on again for it to set at the proper speed that I want.
      Climate control has glitches also changes fan speed and settings occasionally.

      Audio System USB malfunction about 1 out of every four times I am in the car the audio system does not recognize the USB drive even though I was just listening to an audio book etc before turning the vehicle off previously. Also, after I have set the stereo equalizer the way I want it sometimes it changes back to the preset settings. It also loses the Bluetooth connection very often with my phone.

      Transmission issues when accelerating from a complete stop, the transmission shifts up and down like it trying to decide which gear it should be in. Also when I take my foot off the accelerator and I am coasting before putting my foot on the brake, very often I can feel the transmission downshifting similar to downshifting in a manual transmission. This is something that I have never felt before in any automatic transmission.
      Gas mileage. Is much lower than stated. I am only getting about 17 mpg in mixed city / highway driving.
      Auto Hi Beam Headlight setting Sometimes this never goes to high beam like it should and many times it keeps turning the headlights on bright when another car is approaching, even at closer distances.
      Rear Hatch not opening issue Sometimes even after pressing the remote, or the back hatch door button multiple times, the back hatch will still not open.

    I have the same black 2016 RX as yours, but mine did come with genuine Lexus crossbars for mounting stuff to the roof (which we've never done). I don't care for them, but my wife thinks it looks sporty. ~~ Mostly ours has been a good car, but there are some weaknesses in the 2016 RX350: (1) the transmission doesn't get along with the cruise control at all, especially going downhill where the trans will jerk and lurch like mad; (2) the interactive mouse & click button system is difficult and clumsy to use; (3) the Bluetooth system is VERY glitchy when it comes to syncing up with iPhones; we really have to wrestle with it -- to the point of saying bad words -- to get it to sync up; (4) ours has an annoying clunk, clunk, clunk in the rear end of the car at slow speeds on rough roads; I've searched the inside rear and the rear suspension for years trying to find the source of that noise.

    • @CarolinaCowboys
      @CarolinaCowboys  Před rokem +1

      Interesting, I have not heard the clunk noise but my first guess is your shock retaining bolt is loose, or the bushings are bad. On the Bluetooth, you should try to have only one phone listed in the devices because when the car is turned on it will always try to connect in order and if another phone is higher priority it will connect and then glitch out when you go out of range. Regarding the cruise control, Lexus is simply using the transmission lower the speed which is similar to a downhill descent running in high RPM's, but it's not a good solution for cruise control. Most cars just coast when lowering cruising speed, but because Lexus is using the transmission, it's very uncomfortable. So I always cancel cruise to coast and slow down, then set it again when I'm at the right speed. Lastly on the crossbars, if you're never going to use them, you may gain 3-4 MPG by taking them off, they create buffeting of wind that reduces MPG. Hope this helps!
