I never noticed it, but when Carl goes to see Ellie in the hospital, you can see scissors and tape on the bedside table. She put those pictures in for him before she died because she knew he’d need help and permission from her to move on…😢
Holy...
Wow! I never noticed that 😢🤦🏿♂️
Oh come on! I was just done crying about this movie.
Still amazes me how much the first 10 minutes of this movie affects people. Great story telling without much dialogue.
I would also add the last 10 min too.
@@alexhutson297 I always cry when he gives Russell the Ellie badge!
“Up” and “WALL-E” both showed how you can tell a great story with little to no dialogue. 👍👍
Golden age of Pixar. Those series of movies made it seem they could do anything.
the first 10 minutes are rough but the part that tears me up the MOST
is when carl is looking through the scrapbook and sees that he, and their life together, was her adventure 😭😭🤍🤍🤍
And you are allowed to have more than one adventure without feeling guilty 💙
@@DanielleVlog365 At the same time ?
:D
The moment you realize Carl was going to Paradise Falls to end it all but found a reason to keep living instead got to be a dad figure to a little adventurer like Ellie. 😭😭
PLEASE THIS MOVIE ALREADY MAKES ME SAD 😭😭😭
I don’t think he was going to end it all, I just thought he was going to live out his days there. The whole point of their dream is to live there.
"I could help you cross your... porch?"
"No."
"Well, I've got to help you cross SOMETHING!"
...
Russell does help Carl cross something... his heart.
You stop it 😭
bro i already crying
Why 😭
OMG SO TRUE!! 🥰
And now I’m sobbing again 😭😭😭😭😭😭
This movie hits WAY harder when you get married 😭
Why is that?
It can hit harder??
@@Mr_Murk YES. I’m so sorry 😬
Idk, I'm not married and I mourned my grandparents all over again bc of this movie
@@sadiedol4413 for sure! I’m saying when you’re married you have a WHOLLEEEE different perspective and it hits SO much harder.
The house is a metaphor for grief. Throughout the film it was pulling Carl back, making him the grumpy old man and at times he was putting the house ahead of others. Throughout the film he learnt to let go which was shown by the balloons popping and him throwing things out. When the house finally flew away he had completely let go of his grief and could look forward to the future
........⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️........
That first ten minutes is brutal!
I never thought I'd witness a Disney character being told they're barren in a cartoon.
I think it was a miscarriage
@@Wicksman2645I think she was infertile. That she couldn’t have biological children of her own.
The nursery sweeping to the doc office gives me the vibe of a miscarriage that also impacted their future fertility, like an ectopic pregnancy that resulted in needing a hysterectomy or something.
It was either a miscarriage that traumatized her into never wanting to try again, a miscarriage that resulted in or gave the dr the thought she may never be able to carry to term, or a miscarriage that resulted in needing a hysterectomy. They grew up in the 50s so modern medicine was way behind now. So something that could be managed now may not have been then. They were definitely pregnant because you don't make a nursery before the need arises. @Wicksman2645
It was just telling her she couldn’t get pregnant.
Love that after how both Carl and Ellie tried to conceive but never ended up being able to, they lived a full and happy life together, and Carl ended up gaining a son in Russel. Ellie would have adored him, his personality is so much like hers when she was a child. The movie really comes full circle and has such good messages about found families, finding happiness even while going through grief, and that you’re never too old to life life or have adventures!
The entire concept of the floating house, the dogs, the bird, & the main character being an elderly man with a Boy Scout best friend was SO BIZARRE that sometimes I wonder if it was created from a fever dream. On paper, the movie was probably a huge risk. I feel like the creators had a lot of faith that the movie would do well, and now it’s one of Disney/Pixar’s most beloved films that stands the test of time!
Is it bad that I like to watch people cry and cry with them 😢😂
And make us laugh
Same
Me too 😔
Lmao I feel like such a psycho crying and laughing at the same time. 🥲
It has been an honour sobbing with you.
Literally, every CZcamsrs that react to this movie did not expect to cry in the first 5 - 10 minutes. You can tell how good the movie "UP" really is. Although it's even more said if they heard of the Pixar theory
my mom does not like animated movies. she just sat for first 10 min and watched the whole movie.. only animated movie she has watched... it did something to her
Lost my angel Nancy after 17 years together, this movie always hits harder now, I love it and cherish it. Was wonderful seeing you both fall in love with this gem of what is our best thing, love....... love the people who love you hard folks :)
💙💙💙
@@DanielleVlog365 Thank you :) and same to you. Thank you for your humanity
JV was reliving the trauma within 10 minutes
The topics covered in the first 10 minutes are very adult for a children's movie. I can't help but cry every time I see them growing old together..
I kind of love it because kids grow up seeing that kind of stuff around them and maybe not understanding. But this might make it a little more relatable and easier to understand.
"Remember when Carl didn't want to leave the house after Ellie wasn't there anymore? Grandma doesn't want to leave her house right now because Grandpa's not there. So let's go visit her instead."
I could see kids getting down with that logic. It even helps adults empathize maybe.
@@DanielleVlog365 Art, especially "story telling", have strong powers to improve society.
It's just mind-bending that a story told in cartoon form - where we KNOW every second these characters are simply animated drawings, not even human actors that we're watching - and it's completely fictional, almost absurdly fictional at times - can STILL hit us this hard. It's almost unfair.
The stories written into them come from real people, real love, real sadness, real joy, real stories, real people. The writing of this film was peak Pixar.
I never got over the opening to this movie, I'll never forgive it.
I thouggt I was going into a FUN movie 😂 Theater was WRECKED, lmao. Pixar knew our fates, lol.
Anytime I watch it I have to skip the whole opening scene. Like I can to the wedding but then I skip to Russell.
@@aerialcrowley Hahaha, you skip the best part !
Maybe you should get over yourself first and realize that the greatest asset any work of fiction has is to be able to provide emotion.
Seeing this before I was married, it was still emotional. From the miscarraige, the his wife dying....etc. But after being married, and also having our own miscarriage, watching again was even harder. Still one of Pixars top tier emotional movies. Along side Coco.
interesting fact: in Brazil, the voice actor for Carl is a very famous and loved (and old) actor, and Up was his last work before he passed... my dad cherishes this movie so much since it's the last time he got to listen to his voice on action😢❤
When she passes the book to him knowing that he has to continue the adventure without her kills me every time.
Russell is the son that carl and ellie wouldve loved to have but never got to experience.
I will never get tired of Jane’s reactions 🥰
Saw the notification and said, “why did you do this to Jane?” 😂
For real, we all knew this would absolutely destroy her. 😂 The first few minutes alone get people teary eyed, but Jane is so empathetic, she barely made it!
So we could See Jane Cry.
Because it's a legitimately fantastic movie?
@@the-NightStar I don't think you understood what you just replied to.
One of the most devastating beginnings of a movie, especially an animated movie, ever.
I don't care how tough you are, seeing Jane sob is enough to break anyone 😭
The first 10 minutes of the begining of this movie is a MASTERPIECE😢🥺😭, Up is my absolutly favorite Pixar of my Childhood of all time
When you run out of water and you have to drink your own tears, just watch a reaction to UP.
The weird thing is Snipe is used as a joke all the time falsely claiming they aren't real when Snipe are a beach dwelling bird that is similar to a Roadrunner. They are real.
Much like a wild goose chase, the original meaning had to do with difficult to impossible pursuits. At some point, I guess nobody had heard of snipes anymore so they started making stuff up about them.
I wouldn’t say they’re similar to a Roadrunner, but yeah, they’re often thought to be a mythical bird but they’re very real, just hard to find/catch so just came to be a phrase used for sending someone off on a difficult task for no reason.
This movie just has such a compelling story doesn't it? Its my favorite Pixar movie for sure.
A Wilderness Explorer is Friend to All, be it Plants or Fish or Tiny Mole 😆
I saw this when it came out, and it was added to the very, very small list of films that made me cry 😂😂
Robert Zemeckis: "I am the KING of sentimental movies!"
Pixar: "Hold my balloon house"... 😎
This is the first movie I ever seen where the rest of the movie can’t live up to the great first 10 minutes ,Ellie not able to get up the hill after seeing how much energy she had most of her life is heartbreaking
This movie can get the audience to care about and get invested in the main character in the first 15 minutes more that some movie franchises do in multiple movies.
If you didn't know, the dogs playing poker is a famous cheesy painting. Actually 16 of them, that were used to advertise cigars.
One of 3 animated movies ever nominated for best picture. The other two being Toy Story 3 and Beauty and the Beast. None of them won best picture, but Up did win two Academy Awards for Best Animated Film of the Year as well as Best Achievement in Music Original Score.
I was burned by the snipe prank once... I was around 7 years old and camping with a father son group. I remember being annoyed when I found out, but fortunately, I wasn't hurt by the joke.
In the beginning:
Jane: so cute 😁😁
JV: All serious because he knows what's coming
Ooooo UP …. Making people cry in the first 10 mins 2009
This movie is so beautiful, it has its own soul.
One of the last masterpieces Hollywood created.
6:54 WHY DID YOU SAY THAT? now i'm crying even more😭
Charles Munz was probably only 20 or 21 when Carl was nine or ten. Big difference at that age, but not a lot when they are older. This movie was so profound. Dreams, obsessions, and letting go to find what you really have. One of the best movies of all time.
I just want to say, your marriage and relationship is beautiful ❤️❤️ thanks guys for sharing you love with us
I love the little detail in the last scene where the blimp is "parked" in the handicapped spot! :)
This movie always makes me cry 💙
This is pretty much "A man called Otto" but for the kiddos
Omg!
I just saw that movie recently. That movie was also wonderful. I really liked it.
54:56 She did filled the adventure book while in the hospital. It took me years of watching, but I finally noticed that she had tape, pens and paper at the bedside table before handing Carl the book.
That 15 sec speed up still live in my head since the firdt time i watch it as a kid. Thst was so beautiful and hearbreaking at the same time
THIS CARTOON'S BEGINNING IS FRIEKING BRUTAL!!!
russel was the kid they never had the opportunity to have
Certain moments in this movie just wrecks me.
From one human to another. I never experienced true sympathy for another human like yall do. I was never taught how to love and it hits every day. 😢. Y’all are so beautiful together to see genuine feelings for eachother at the end of the day. God bless both of you , really 🥹
Jane was so mean to Russell. 😭
We all watch this and CRY.
19:54 Jane, there's no tigers in South America, but that continent is home to a lot of jaguars and pumas!
Just now realized Russell's dad was homeless that's why he's good at camping
You need to see Wall-E. Another Pixar classic. It's gets you right in the feels.
“Up,” brought to you by Kleenex. One of my favorite movies…and it gets me every time.
Air is 'safe' for most people up to about 15,000 feet. That's why most skydiving happens at 12-13k with a final ceiling at 15-17k depending on the zone (places requiring more experience can go higher quickly and let jumpers exit at higher altitudes - eventually requiring oxygen line supplies for the jumpers while in the plane.
Y'all need to watch Dug Days now (and Carl's Date, the final stand alone short). It's a series of shorts about Dug's life with Carl after the movie. The opening theme of the show tells you that Carl sold the airship, split the money with Russell, and bought a new little house for himself and Dug. And then Russell and his mom used his half to buy the house next door! It's incredibly cute and a funny series. It's only about five episodes, too, so it's short.
Such a sweet movie. It makes me both laugh and cry each time I watch it.
I enjoyed it too❤🥲 it was so emotional and can’t believe Carl is a widower🤧
Carl and Ellie are both so cute
You are both so cute too ❤
I love how you guys get so emotional over certain scenes in sad moments. It really shows a strong sense of empathy toward other people’s misfortune even if it’s in a movie.
I cried right with Jane 😭
I was crying before the opening credits finished.
My wife and I went to the theater to see this while on our honeymoon. Such a special movie. Makes me cry every time!
I'd watched this before I had kids and a love life and now I'm sitting here falling apart like Jane lol. I didn't realize how sad this movie was; uplifting, but sad as well. I don't know if I'd dare to watch this alone. Thanks for sharing!
The guy you said is in every Pixar movie is John Ratzenberger, who played Cliff Clavin on Cheers.
I love all of your reactions Jane! Happy, sad, joy, laughter, murderous rage, they're all great!
Such a beautiful movie! Pete Docter is a genius!
No matter how many times you see this movie - it gets you every single time lmao.
This movie made me feel so nostalgic 😢😢😢
I was hoping you two would react to this! Had to come early to see this 🙏🏻😁
The first 10 minutes of this movie literally CRUSHED me. I was not prepared for it and I’m not sure I even remember the rest of the movie in the theater. I’ve seen it since of course, but I’ll never forget the heartbreak seeing it for the first time. The lump in my throat was palpable.
In doug days on disney+ they sold the blimp and bought a house near Russell and Carl and doug live together.
Fun fact the waterfall is Angel falls
My favorite couple and reaction channel! 🤗 Greetings from the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 ✨😁
😂 I think this would be a great how I met your mother story to tell to once kids. I can also imagine if this were both Jane and Justin growing up.😂😃😂🤣 Seriously, if there was a live-action version of this movie, I recommend the both of you!
First 10 mins. Jane: smiling, enjoying the love story
JV: PTSD from last time
No human on earth could have watched this movie without a tear.
Hannibal Lecter could. Keyser Soze too.
Awesome reaction of my favorite Pixar movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
Yeah, I was not prepared for the start of this movie especially. Usually movies keep their more emotional stuff until later, but darn they hit us hard right from the get go
My favorite pic of my wife and I at Disneyworld is the one where Kevin photo bombed us ha ha
14:50 pause it at this exact point
This movie slightly brushes its hand on your innocent cheek, just to punch u in the gut all in 5 mins
Hits way harder after losing a GF of 12 years a couple months ago. Cherish what you have now you never know when it will be taken away from you.
💙💙💙
I used to work in a museum, and one of our super rich donor's threw her birthday party there and requested we blow up "the amount of balloons to fill up the entire back hallway" so she could make a grand entrance. For reference, that's a friggin lot! We spent 4 days on round the clock shifts. Our fingers were dry and cracked and in pain. It was horrible trying to tie all those balloons and make sure strings were attached or they would slip off and float to the ceiling (we lost so many this way).
Even after 4 days straight, we only made it to about a 1000 balloons before we ran out of time. OF COURSE we wanted to see if anyone could float away with them---uh no, apparently you need a good 4 thousand more for that, but it looked just like the up house and we got some amazing photos faking it by jumping off a high ledge and looking up so it looked like we were floating. After all that hard word, the event arrived....and this lady didn't even go through the back door. She didn't think it was grand enough, so she never saw a.single.balloon. My internal rage. There it is. Every time I see this film, I'm triggered, LOL!
14:13 the point where air is too thin to breathe is 10,000 feet. At that height, a person can become hypoxic in as little as 4 minutes!
Ready for the tears lol
This was an incredible watch in the theatres in 3D. It's one of many movies I was happy to have treated my mother.
Its called ''Life'', it doesn't matter how you died but how you've lived
When Pixar was still Pixar, and Disney was still Disney. Sigh.
Squirrel!
Fun fact , alpha , gamma and beta couldn't find Kevin because they are all guarding dogs but dug found him because he is a traking dog
Aw, this was so moving to see from the two of you. JV, please hug Jane. Beautiful reactions to an incredibly special movie -- that first 10 minutes is perfection, but oh, it hits so hard.
This movie broke my Heart every time
Thank you both for being vulnerable. I cant turn off my waterworks. Again. Curse feelings. Lol
"400 feet up and the air is too thin" Well, no, you can go higher than that. Generally it is said that you need oxygen above 20000 ft. Sherpas have climbed Mount Everest without oxygen and that is 29000 ft but most people couldn't take that.
At the end when Carl and Russell and Doug are sitting on the curb eating ice cream and calling out car colors. Carl and Russell: Red one, blue one. Doug: Gray one! Cracks me up!
Lol its the … ooo he’s just out of shape lol
