The first ten minutes of this film could've been a short film
definitely not a kids film though
@@r.a.fgattaiguy845it could
I was thinking the same thing.
@@r.a.fgattaiguy845 I'd argue against that. So long as it's done in a tasteful way, such as this, these types of topics are suitable for children (especially since it's not voice acted).
@@patrickcarter2829 It would end with a depressed old man going home by himself, that´s a pretty dark end for a kids short film
It took me YEARS to understand why Ellie was in the doctor's office crying 😅🥺
Technically we still don’t know exactly what happened. We’re not sure if Ellie was barren or if she suffered a miscarriage. Although I’m leaning more towards the latter since it makes more sense to prepare a nursery AFTER you conceive.
But yeah, I didn’t watch this movie until I was an adult, so by the time I saw it, I pretty much got the gist of it all. Still heartbreaking to watch such a great marriage go through so many tough moments.
@@twelved4983it’d make more sense if it was the former case since if it was the latter (miscarriage) then they could’ve always tried again to conceive another child despite the trauma that came from the initial miscarriage whereas in the latter’s case (barren) there’d be no point in trying to conceive a child and that’s where the Adventure Book came into play since now they have no other life goals.
@@elianrodriguez7318 on second thought, that makes more sense. Just thought it would’ve been a little too ambitious/hasty to have prepared a nursery before they even knew they were having a kid in the first place.
@@twelved4983 they only started making it when they got the idea during the picnic which was before they started making the nursery, the scenes went in this order: picnic with baby clouds (that’s when they decided they wanted a baby) ➡️ started making the nursery ➡️ they get the bad news.
In other words they knew that they wanted a baby, the problem was that they couldn’t have one *after* *trying* their shot at one.
It breaks my heart. The idea of having a child, having a miscarriage, then learn the bitter truth of unable to conceive another.
The shot of them at the baby doctor has to be the darkest transition in Disney/Pixar animation.
Life is not all rosy, sometimes there has to be a dark part to put yourself back together
I still think the "burned village" transition in Mulan is the darkest. Certainly the most jarring
"Up" isn't only a movie, it's a lifetime lesson, that show us the real love is forever, in this life and much more, and never forget our dreams, we should follow the dreams and wishes with loved people.
Total bs
@@cristianjhonson1754
☠️
Ok then. Don't follow your dreams, give up on love and life, and just drown in your sorrows, hate, and pain.
Judging by the final act I'd say it's more about not getting hung up on foolish dreams and remember that what truly matters are the experiences we live with the ones we love.
The first 10 minutes of this movie is a Masterpiece, this movie is a Masterpiece.
Carl and Ellie remind me of a couple my parents were close friends with during my childhood. They were also a very happy couple and seemed like they would have made great parents. The husband was always playful and cheery whenever he’d play with me and his wife was always very motherly and cooked a lot. Yet sadly they never had kids since the wife had fertility issues and couldn’t adopt since it was too expensive. It’s been years since I last saw them and I hope they’re doing well.
It actually reminds me of my grandparents. Like Carl and Ellie, they grew up together and eventually married. They lived a great life, until two years ago, my grandfather was sick and eventually passed away in the hospital. We even had a funeral like Ellie’s too.
I'm about to turn 41. My wife and I most likely can't have kids. We've been trying for ages. This movie hurts way, way too much for us to watch
@@Grizzlox I’m so sorry to hear that. I can’t imagine how devastating it must be for you and your wife and hope things become better over time.
@@user-cx6lq8mt5g it was devastating once. Now I know that if it's meant to happen, we will find a way. But if it isn't, we have each other
Jeez, “too expensive to adopt”, that sounds awful. There are multitudes of kids needing families and MONEY is being used as a deciding factor to gatekeep? I mean, I know there have to be some restrictions to keep out people who are not psychologically capable of handling parenthood, but using cash barriers by the government just feels wrong.
"With love comes loss. It's part of the deal." -Stoic the Vast, HTTYD.
This and the scene where he checks the book again never fail to make me cry
Me too
me before: i watched more than once i ain’t frikkin crying
me after: *tears*
Cant not cry whenever I see this scene
Yes me too, probably seen this a hundred times and it still get me
We all need an Ellie in our lives.
we can't be all that lucky
The movie itself is a masterpiece.
That 4 minutes of it - is a masterpiece among all masterpieces.)
I want an animated film with the same montage, no dialogue and just music and movement to describe the scene just like this one. That would win an Oscar. If someone steals my idea I’ll sue them.
Permission to steal your idea for my school project.
Carl and Ellie I think are the most healthy couple in any Pixar movie ever, tell me I’m wrong
*Life depicted in a few minutes... Life man... Just life....*
I love how you can see their hearts break.
I think this is the first movie and first moment ever that made me cry
Fun fact: Pixar tried to get them to cut Ellie's miscarriage because it was so sad, but the director insisted since it's a crucial part of the story that affects the entire movie, so they got to keep it in.
this fillm always reminds me of my late grandparents. They really love each other. It makes me happy cause I remember them from this film, but it pains me at the same time as it recalls me how my grandmother died beside me after the military school graduation, and my grandfather died the day before the day of my birthday....
Suddenly, I am having flashbacks of my grandfather dying in a hospital bed.
nice... now my night is dead.... there no good night today for me
:/
@@Latifah-uq7zr i should better just ask
@@Latifah-uq7zrsure :)
@@Latifah-uq7zractually i may not :/ i have already done such videos before and i have already moved to another movie. so the chances are pretty low
@@Latifah-uq7zr he can always do this... but he already have new content so before that content is ran out... he will not do it
Pixar went from making masterpieces like Up, Toy Story and Wall•E to whatever the hell they're putting out these days.
That brutal and ultra sad :( Great movie
The first 10 minutes of this movie is one of the greatest love stories ever written!
Well, there goes my heart again 😥
this brreaks my heart and warms it
I was sobbing at the theater
Despite this being a reaction compilation, I was still quite gutted to watch this all over again
3:58 everyone nooooo *star crying* yeha me cry too😢
When the 4 notes becomes slow piano my tear ducts open automatically.
That was definitely the saddest part of the story😞
It was sad the first two or three times but now I can’t help but laugh at seeing other people lose there shit over it lol
"not even 30 minutes into the film and I'm already crying"
This is the perfect description of this film
This masterpiece of cinema art and what shit they create today's, sadness😢

#Unnecessary
That opening sequence left me so devastated that it was impossible to enjoy the rest of the movie. Couldn't deal with Pixar after that.
Watching their emotions change from Happy to Depressed in 10 minutes gave me some not so fond memories.
Lmao back then i didnt understand but my parents was like "I thought this was a kids movie"
'Grief is the price we pay for love.' Elizabeth Windsor.
Look at the reactions when its at Carls tie sequence. Male reactors say nothing, but their faces tell so much.
I remember watching this movie as a 9 or 10 or something like that year old with my dad in the cinema when it came out. When the movie was over he asked me what I thought of it and I said that I liked it but I didn't like that the two of them grew old so quickly. He replied something along the lines of how that is the point. It's an interesting memory considering how much I appreciate this scene now, so many layers to it that you get to understand better as you grow older.
I think one of the saddest details I noticed (after many viewings of the movie) is that after what happened to Ellie, you never see Carl in a necktie again. He’s wearing that bow tie because he probably never learned how to tie a tie since she always did them for him 😢
Pixar: delivering gut-punches to people of all ages since the 2000’s
"Before our fun, whimsical adventure movie, let's beat the audience to death with sorrow!!!"
It worked very well.
There are doctorate dissertations and academic classes dedicated just to this segment. No dialog, no human actors -- just music and CGI. And we care. Our disbelief is suspended and we are all-in, because the motions and emotions are so understandable and universal. This is an amazing piece of cinema -- and a great test for how empathetic we are.
I'M BOT FUCKIN CRYING! YOU'RE CRYING!
When Disney knew how to make movies
This was Pixar not Disney. Yes technically Disney owns Pixar, but Pixar is it's own Animation Studio.
+chaoticdemise4494
They still do
Im not crying.....im just a waterfall cosplaying as one😢😢😢😢😢😢
:/
My nana and poppy were married for 73 years…they met when she was 16 and he was 18.. they got married after WW2! They had 4 kids and many many adventures and were still snuggling with each other right up until my poppy passed away recently! My poppy was 97 when he left..and I know he’s just waiting for nana so they can go on their next adventure…and the minute he sees her he’s gonna ask why she’s so bloody late….
Love you Poppy…😊
Next React Mr.Fredickson Read Album Photo after Arrived in Paradise Hall.
i will see about it :/
So deeply sad but so deeply romantic.
why i think people keep crying no mather the times they see this scene, is because despite being a kinda short film inside a movie, it spans a lifetime , so there will always be things you have lived and things youll still have to live, no mather your age
If I couldn't have a marriage like Gomez and Morticia, then I would love to have one like Carl and Ellie.
When I saw the thumbnail, I started a pre-cry.
Let’s not forget that Up is among the 3 animated films that were nominated for Best Picture at Oscars, ever. This movie is that amazing!!!
The saddest part was when reks wife died
When I watched this cartoon as a child: "Damn, it's pretty sad ..."
Now I'm almost 25 and I can't hold back the tears...
Wow, that hits a lot harder as an adult...
Once upon a time, Disney is an amazing company who produce this kind of masterpiece. I weep over heap of trash that was left now.
A film that can entertain the adult and the kid alike
the best animation❤❤❤
Those first ten min are better than 99% of all movies.
Only these first few minutes are the reason this movie is the saddest Disney movie of all of them.
UP was and still something very special in many ppl heart, including me
I’ve never cried to this scene before so I don’t know why I’m crying now
The guy in blue looks like he gets it.
It was almost completely silent in a theater full of small children as this played on screen. The only sound was sniffling coming from moms and dads. You could hear a pin drop. Disney used to be magic. Now, not so much.
Never put your dreams off for too long
And THIS right there is a couple goal my dudes. Also, cried like a baby AGAIN.
Can you make a reaction mashup where Carl and Russell meets Kevin and Dug?
Imagine watch this movie with these people who keep talking for the entire movie...
the sad part didnt even come out yet but i already shedding tears :') (probably beacuse i've already knew what was gonna happen next)
Is the must sad scene of a Pixar movie 😢😢😢
Bing Bong's sacrifice 😭😭😭
Honestly this whole movie could be completely trash, still, those first minutes were so deep that that's all I would remember and think it was a good watch regardless...
Can we have some more scenes from this movie?
Remember when kids movies used to make you feel feelings
I never really cried at this bit (I was sad tho)....not until I applied it to my grandparents...😢
luv the octokrool guys
science experiment
Men’s reaction really genuine.
That last time she straightened his tie… waterworks
Hope you do Toy Story 3 ending :)
All the talking at once kind of kills it.
😥
:/
I love UP. It's a very sweet and emotional movie 😭can you do a reaction mashup to Just Around The Riverbend from Pocahontas?
Why can’t Pixar make movies like THIS anymore, nowadays they play it safe
Even Post Malone is watching
Do more how to train your dragon please 🥺 toothless safe hiccup 😢
The saddest part that Ellie passed away🥺😢
My stupid self watched this about 3 weeks after my husband died. I was a mess.
this was a great compilation video except for the four dudes across the top that looked like they were gonna make fun of me for crying. I'm surprised the british woman was the one mansplaining the plot to me
I cant watch the first 15 minutes. Its a heart breaker. And I'm a tough old bat.
I never continued.
why did u, delete clannad reaction?
because i started to focus on movie reaction instead of anime :/
A
if they would all just shut up!!!🙄
3:54 the silence is defeaning 😢
