The name of the island is Anglicized to "Iceland", but in their own language, it is spelled Island. As in island, land surrounded by ocean. The name has nothing to do with our English word for ice.

open air lava lakes are exceedingly rare. I thin there are only five in the world
Please be careful of how you say things. Your first statements made it sound like the city of Reykjavik was being evacuated and that isn’t true. Grindavík is the town that was evacuated which has already been in an evacuation zone since last year.
Trigger happy statements like this that aren’t fully describing what’s happening is causing panic.

Iceland air is super affordable, not to mention iceland mostly has small hotels that are very affordable@@artenman
Iceland is still very much safe, as this is just a very small eruption. Not even affecting flights other than just giving the passengers coming in a grand spectacle.
On top of all that, this eruption will end in the next 24 hours. With another super small, 18 - 48 hour long eruptiin in about a month

Its amazing how wrong the news can be. Its not near Reijkavik, its near Grindavik. Everyone was already evacuated......only the Svartsengi power plant staff needed to be evacuated.
The Watchman River channel’s newest vid brought me here. I pray not just for the physical and mental well being of the people in Iceland, but also for their salvation(s)too.
