J. Mason, I towed you up to Ryan at the start. We both got dropped by the mega start sprint. I felt a bit concerned (for Ryan) towing a D up. You stuck to me like glue though. Great effort.
I leaned a lot about Zwift racing by watching the race. Thanks to everyone involved.
First comment from someone who actually watched the video first 😜...........What about hiring the "A" team to get you a win in a "D" race, comms open, sprint start. If anyone holds on group comms sprint again later to drop them and then pulled in like Pogacar in the Tour for the glory.........then go for a solo win another time 😂

L.Williams checking in! I kept up for a while but also went too hard at the start, then got dropped and ended up going 2/3rds of the race completely on my own, just behind your group and ahead of the next group.
I didn't realise it was a mass start until too late when I'd already been trying to keep up with the As for a couple of minutes...DOH!

sorry for stealing the comment here, I enjoyed Ryans videos so much I got a Zwift subscription :) but I have a big problem that I am desperate to get help with. My trainer (Elite Direto) works great when I do like a FTP test, resistance goes up and down as it should, but when I do a group ride, and it says "pedal assist will end in 1 sec" and so on, I can not go any faster? I just put out like 80watt no matter how much I pedal. Is there some button I need to press to go faster? I can not find any info in the menus or anything lol. Or Do I need to get the $99 controller to be able to shift in the game or something?. Sorry for derailing :(
@@AndrewTSq possibly erg mode is still on? Don't know how. Reach out to zwift forums. Smart Zwift staff there and others can help.
@@AndrewTSq it's ok Andrew. Sounds like you've got the trainer left in ERG mode maybe. I'm not a expert.
I'd 100% recommend joining the Zwifties Discord and asking this question in their "Nerd" section. They will know how to help you.

As a very keen Zwifter (been doing it for a few years now) and recently found your channel I was amazed by your story. I have been playing catch up on your videos and watched in amazement on how you have been progressing...And then this! .....I'm sixty six and thought I was reasonably fit for my age but you damn near gave me a heart attack watching this!!! You can't leave it like it is you have to carry on and win...You've inspired this old geezer to take part in your next adventure and least do my own PB.

This was so so good to watch, what a fantastic bunch of people. I’ve got anxiety with meeting groups of people and joining a cycling club gives me further anxiety as I always feel like “oh my I’ll be found out I’m the slowest of the bunch, il get dropped blah blah blah”. This has actually put my mind at ease somewhat as it looks like that doesn’t matter, the group is there for everyone. Love it!

Great effort! This is what I love about Zwift; The teamwork on WTRL is incredible and keeps me coming back for more. Not sure about the ‘stop pedalling’ advice though, better to spin lightly to help flush lactic acid build-up. Look forward to more vids. 👍

Was a pleasure to give you a draft :) I’m RMeigh. I also managed to bridge to the very front of the field. The front group has 3 or so Ds, who all got dropped on the aqueduct. You would have been reeling them in very quickly.

It was a pleasure to ride/race with you Ryan. I lost you at the start (I ended up ahead with a fast Cat C group) but ultimately the Ryan train stormed passed me the last 2km and you finished a few places ahead of me. Your train was an awesome sight of strength and teamwork!!

Very nice to see you try the tactic i mentioned before and seeing you give it a go! For me this was the way to win. Another thing that was in my advantage was more climb meters eventhough i am an TT rider. Just by bluffing uphill i managed to break my biggest competitors. Anyways great video once again.

@@RyanCondon Cheers mate, mine ended up getting removed from Zwift Power for putting out to many watts per kilo through the race. Zwift still recommends Cat D but next time I think I’ll have to go the Cat C. But mate, you got all those riders together for that race and it was an absolute blinder. Can’t wait for next time!
Great ride! Boy did they have you working! I reckon a bit easier off the start would leave more in the tank for later. You got too gassed of the start. And there were a couple of times you got isolated with no draft. With these changes, you have every opportunity to podium.
They were relentless but awesome all at the same time. 🤣

Hey Ryan, love your channel, and this one was EPIC! I'm sure that someone told you about the Companion App rignt? You can activate the power upps with it, give it a try :) I would love to participade in the race but i can't be competetive even in the Cat D, I would need a lower one ;), looking foward for the next video. One thing I will say , is if you look at the power band for each group , CATD has the widest spread compared to A B C .
You finished several minutes ahead of me and I don’t think I should be int he same cat at you . I should be in cat E and there should be a cat F . The spread is far too wide . Cat D is a hard cat to win
D is hard to win, you're right but I disagree you're not able to keep up with me. I'm just getting better at drafting and I get dropped on hills as still too heavy.

Did you use your powerup before the banner at about 26:30? Another thing which will make you faster is bike and wheel choice as you level up. Really happy you have caught the bug!

I think how I record is pretty standard. Would it be beneficial to share do you think!?
@@RyanCondon I think so. I did one but had tech issues. Tried another earlier this week and it went a bit wrong but I’ve worked out a reliable way. So I’m using Apple TV and MacBook. I’ve now worked out MacBook playing game recording screen stops for some odd reason. However recording the Apple TV using Macbook using QuickTime seems to work. Only downside is the graphics aren’t as detailed but guess it may be ok. Are you using a PC?

@@garethbutton I switched over to recording on main PC and Zwift app for this exact reason. You should join the Zwifties Discord and ask the guys on there how they record. They're streaming experts.

I think I prefer watching Ryan on Zwift than I do watching pro cycling... That said, I'm glad you didn't get the win... Sitting in the draft of an organised team of superior riders to beat solo riders isn't cricket.
That said, amazing effort getting everybody in the race and behind you.
But, as I said, for me it's got to be off your own bat. Getting your Dad to do your homework doesn't help you.
What if your friends could also get your Dad to do their homework too?
Everything I did could and was done by anyone else racing. Any of the other D's could have sprinted hard off the start (and many did) and any of them could have latched on with me (like a few) did.
I'm pleased you enjoyed it though, good thing I'm not a pro and it's all in the spirit of having fun and keeping fit.

Absolutely Ryan. I'm a fan. But for me Zwift is a physical challenge, not a " how many mates can I make on Social media challenge". That said, building a community as you have done, is someone to be admired as is clearly beneficial to your physical and mental health, which is a win. But for me, that's different from a race win. But perhaps ultimately it's the former win and not the latter that you're really seeking..... And who can criticise that?
