- This was inevitable, I was always going to get a win on 'Zwift Power' first. I couldn't pass over this race without making a video about it... On the Leg-snapping Innsbruck Ring course too!!

Here is that EPIC RACE video from last week.. Check it out - czcams.com/video/JpWAsVpV-EQ/video.htmlsi=H7PZvSrWgKb0IShE
The leg snapper is no joke. Zwiftpower removes anyone who is riding unrealistically so celebrate it, you deserve this win. You have gone so far in your journey, keep it up. Congratulations !!!
Thanks my friend. I appreciate that. 🙌
My new favourite Zwift video on CZcams. Not because of the great editing and superb storytelling, but because of how Mark represents what Kaboom is all about. I'm not going to describe it in words as this video says it all. Thank you for sharing your journey and thanks for including Kaboom. Special shout out to Mark and also to Rob for joining the call just to share some good news! Ride on!
Couldn't have said it better myself. Great stuff guys!
HEY ARCTIC Z! You're absolutely right about Team Kaboom and Rob. Epic support from all you guys. Fantastic team spirit but most importantly, fantastic support. Great bunch.
Mark was another level. He is an inspiration.
Thanks for the comment.
DG!!! Let's Go! Privileged to have you watch. 🙌
@@RyanCondon great stuff big fella. Keep pushing (with race craft 😀) and you’ll get that elusive in game win soon… then there flood gates will open. 💪👍.
Great ride and great video Ryan
Only a matter of time before you can celebrate by being first on the road too. 💪
I think you should race each other!! 💪💪
Benji vs Ryan, you heard it here first.
Ah Ryan well done made us proud 👍. One thing I’ve noticed is on the hills cadence drops way down (49) but on the flats you are at 85. You may have already done this but something to try is riding a higher cadence on the hills see if that helps with fatigue. But a great result 🥇
Thanks Alan. I'm slowly trying to pay back everyone's generosity by mentioning them in my vids. 🤣
You're right about my cadence. It's appalling on hills. I grind when I'm tired.
You'll like next weeks vid I think. 😉
great ride mate 🤙🏼. gotta love that feeling of hitting above max heart rate 🥵and not ending up in an ambulance, makes crossing that line soooo much sweeter🎉👍. Agree with Alan drop to next easier gear and will help with that flow. took me ages to get out of the saddle. Thanks for the laugh
all the best bro
I watch a lot of Zwift races on here and yours are some of the best to watch.
🙏 Thank you.
Have you considered joining a team on Zwift? Maybe the only thing more addictive than a Zwift race is doing it with 6-8 other folks suffering together with you and all cheering each other on. Congratulations on the win. Your videos are great. Ride on!
Cheers Doug. I havent joined a team and don't plan on it but I have enjoyed a team event as you described it. Check out my Epic Race vid. 😉 czcams.com/video/JpWAsVpV-EQ/video.htmlsi=hlZg7SwzL2eiw89m
"normally on races I start too hard off the start, forget PUs or use them in the wrong place, don't recover when I can and push when I don't need to" ✊ .. I never realised I was in such esteemed company 😄
Well done Ryan
Lol thanks SpecialBlorb and cheers for watching the vid. 👍😎
Congratulations Ryan. As I’ve said before it took me years to do that. One thing I’ve noticed about your style of riding I would change. It’s not a criticism as everyone is different. All I ask is try it. On some of your climbs your cadence is as low as 48. If I were you, try increasing it to around 80 and see how you get on. I did it in climbing and sprinting and it works for me. Good luck with your first win over the line. Loving the content at the moment. Keep it up.
Thanks! I dont see it as criticism. I know my cadence is poor and it is something I'm working on, in fact its the reason for my video next week. Cheers for watching.
Yeah once the big climbs start I'm immediately looking for shorter gears so I can keep my cadence up. I'm more of a spinner than a grinder.
“My hearts about to explode…. This was supposed to be an easy ride” I felt that comment!! Great work!!
Amazing!!! So pleased for you mate. That is a brilliant watch, loved it. 🙂 Keep it going, there's always another target to get excited about.
Thanks Richard. 🙏🙌
Stonking riding, Ryan. And you weren't planning to go too hard, but still pulled out all the stops and bagged a win on a very tough course. Super cool. It is nice to win on the line, and that day is 100% coming very soon, but, in an event like this with sandbaggers, the ZP win is just as cool.
Mark is such a top bloke. He's an excellent racer, super strong, and I don't know if you could have a better person helping you out. You both worked excellently together, too. Alright, apart from the first few minutes when you didn't realise you were on his wheel lol
LEE!!! Thanks for watching my friend.
Mark was awesome. His calm instructions really helped.
I was cracking up when I realised it was Mark at the start I was trying really hard to stay with... I was all proud of myself keeping up with this B only to then realise it was Mark coasting to help me. 😅
Great race Ryan, amazing effort! Hopefully I can get in on the next race you announce !
"My heart's about to explode"
- "No worries". 🤣
Mark is brutal. 🤣
"My heart's about to explode!" ..."no worries"
😂😂
🤣
Congrats Ryan on your first Zwift Power win. I have just started in with some racing on Zwift from the inspiration of watching your videos. I have made podium 2 times but only to 3rd place. Looking forward to my progress and my first win. Good luck on many more wins!
3rd is amazing. Welldone. 🙌
Nice one Ryan. Well deserved mate! You have been working hard for that! 🎉🎉🎉
Cheers Tim 👌
Wow! Just Wow! You buried yourself in that race Ryan. What an inspiring journey to follow for those of us who are also looking to improve in Cat D. The quality of the videos and your narrative is also first class - love the authenticity.
Thanks Steve. That means alot. 🙌 Keep pushing. 💪
Congrats on the W! I like the gaps between the categories at the start. It means if you can sprint up to the As/Bs/Cs you are more likely to drop your competition - if they can’t bridge the gap.
I agree, you're probably right. I must work harder. 😅
Yeeeees! Great race and a great win Ryan! Just remember… in Zwift, it’s always a race 🎉🚀💥
Always 🙌
@ryan we gotta get you sprint training. The kind of efforts you put in the zwift starts to 700+ watts need to be repeatable in training. This way, you still have a sprint saved up for the banner. You should look into getting into the Snow Sprints series, or any group rides where they go for sprint segments. You've gotta pull up with your hamstrings and hip flexors to generate more power. Better yet, take a dip into the tiny races on Saturdays.
Well done fella 🥇🏆
Reference to comments pre-race about category enforcement (As disguised as Ds etc), a diplomatic video on the subject might go a long way. As a fellow D rider, I've worked my backside off to become competitive (FTP now 2.49 wpkg). It's unreal how many higher categories ruin a D race with their presence. It's not just that they are able to win at the end, it's that they elevate the average pace, meaning the majority are dropped early, while the rest have nothing in the tank to make any tactical moves; i.e. it just becomes a time trial.
#SodTheSandBaggers
Enjoy your videos and well done again 🍻
Excuse my foul language effing good job you freaking rock! Now I need to find somebody like you to help me improve on Swift. Congratulations. Damn good job. You deserve a pattern your back with your teammates bravo
Thanks Michael. 😅
You don't need anyone to help. You've got you. 😎 Ride on my friend. 🙌
I think I just shed a tear mate! Lol I’m glad I gave you Ride On 👍🏼 on this ride.
Yep..over the line pending🙏🏼💥💥
🙌
Congratulations on the first win. Well deserved.
Thank you sir! 🙌
Congrats mang! You deserved that win. Great videos too! Been watching for quite a while now.
Thanks Mud. 💪
Cracking video Ryan and amazing performance in that race. Not being able to see you whilst I was speaking to you, I didn't realise quite how hard you were working. Amazing effort mate and congrats again on the win. I didn't realise when you arranged the ride with Darren that it was a planned social ride 🤣 👊💪💪💪
Lol I'm starting to realise that you guys do not know the meaning of the word "social". 😅
Great riding with you and more importantly learning from you. Thank you again. 👌
@@RyanCondon My pleasure mate. I love helping out fellow Zwifters, it's more fun than racing! Looking forward to our next Big Ring outing with RT!
Congrats on the result, another great step of progress for you! That first win across the line will come soon enough, your improvement has been impressive. I got my first Cat D win across the line this week on the Muckle Yin in the ZRacing series this week, and I'm pretty sure I scared my neighbors when I was celebrating by how loud I was yelling, I envision you doing the same when you finally achieve it. Hope one day to see you in the virtual world, good luck and ride on.
Congrats on your win! Being told off for screaming is a badge of honour to be worn proudly. :)
Thanks for watching.
This was awesome to watch. Congrats on youre first win! Hope to become like you and race in the future, still sticking to the workouts so far. 😊 Have a nice weekend!
Thanks! Keep up the workouts my friend. 💪
It's always better with friends!. Great result Ryan , and to think it took a trip to innsbruck and the legsnapper to get that elusive first win. Huge tip of the hat to MarkyMark for showing you a good time, and Zwifty chiming in with the added motivation. Someone will have to invest in a trophy cabinet soon.
My next vid is going to blow your mind! SPOILERS!
I think possibly one take away from this was that a) your heart rate went higher than you thought it could, and that b) maybe you shouldn't look at your heart rate. I never pay attention to HR during a race. I find it's mostly useful for monitoring fatigue post-race.
Thanks for watching Jesikat. I have to watch my HR, if I go into the red for too long then I burn out and need to recover. If I'm dying but not at max HR then I know I can keep pushing a little longer. ❤️🔥
Good Stuff! The Leg Snapper is tough. Only second to the Libby Hill Reverse climb in Richmond in my opinion. Congrats on the ZP win! It is a bit of a let down when you don't get across the line 1st for the win but it is a win. The line 1st will come soon. It will be even sweeter because then you actually get a 2 for 1 once that happens!
You're right. First across the line is next. 🙌
Epic congrats Ryan. Really enjoying your Zwift journey. 🎉
Thank you. 🙌
Epic Ryan 👏Big kudos to Mark for the instruction, very helpful for the next time I go racing.
I hated this route too when the TDZ had it for Stage 5. Perhaps with the knowledge from Mark I could improve my 1:39 PB up the Leg Snapper. Might give it a go next time I'm not doing a training ride.
At this rate Ryan I'll be seeing you in the Cat C's 👍
A PB on the Legsnapper during the TDZ is awesome mate. Bring on another attempt. 💪
Great effort Ryan well done, I am a 61 year old 88kg cyclist that uses zwift as my training tool and your videos motivate me to train harder and use my training plan session on a Cat D race, keep them coming
Thanks Darrell. That puts a smile on my face. Ride on my friend! 💪
Congratulations on your huge effort and the many months of hard work you put in to get there.🎉
Thanks, the story isnt over yet. :)
Congratulations!
Congratulations 🎉🎉
Congratulations! You did awesome, and your friend gave you good advice!
You're right about losing weight. It is the easiest way to get faster. Add it to the hard work on the bike, and you will be C category before too long.
I enjoy this type of start as a D or C, and trying to hang on longer than the others in my class. It's a lot more tricky this way, you have to choose when to back off before you self destruct, and then usually have to solo it, or get lucky and have a rider or two, while the pack is at your heels. In a category enforced D only race, you can sit in the pack and plot the best places on the course for your efforts. Usually climbs. But you can do other things. Like if your sprint is a work in progress, you can try longer efforts near the end, or try to break away if there is a hill near the end. On this course you could hit the gas on the last legsnapper, dropping riders and thinning it out (dropping sprinters hopefully :P ) and you'd have a smaller group to contend with near the end.
Thanks for the tips. You're right about a breakaway. I'm gonna try this again soon. 💪
Congratulations on your first win! Super impressive effort!
Thank you 👌
Great result too! Congratulations!!
Thanks 🙌
Smashed it! Well done on the win!!
Cheers 🙌
Congratz! Lovely vid. You made me laugh several times. Very entertaining! Good luck on your next races, mate! Ride on!
That's great to hear. I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Thanks. 👌
Awesome!! Nice teamwork, you did it! Congratulations!
Thanks Bart. 🙌
Well done on your first win
You have made me a little more brave to enter a race.
I'm 57 years old and 57kg and are rated Cat A .But I can't put out mega watts and only do ok on the Climbs.
Still with a nervous twitch I might try a race.
Smashing Video as usual 👍👍
Good luck. Doesn't matter if you come last. It's all fun. 💪
Congrats, Ryan. ZP is the standard for what counts as a win. Well done, and what a joy that you got to fight so hard for it. Makes it feel extra special 🎉💪
Thanks Thomas. I really appreciate that. Mark was instrumental, calm patient support speaks volumes about him. Robs half time pep talk also helped. 😅
We’ve all been waiting for this. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Me too 😅
Great job, killer effort. The leg snapper is such a soul sucking short climb. Feels way harder than 8%. Knowing the courses makes a huge difference. As you do more you’ll learn where to use your power ups and where you can rest.
I look forward to racing you in cat C one day.
Thanks Brian. Good to see your name pop up.
I actually really enjoyed that course. Might give it another pop at some point.
Hopefully see you in CAT C this year at some point. 🙌
@@RyanCondon if you haven’t tried the new Castle Crit course yet give it a go. It’s got a climb but not as steep. You also get a downhill to recover on right before the climb so it works for us big guys. For me 3 laps on it is my sweet spot. More than that and I’m gassed.
@@BLachance75 great call. I'll try it. Thanks. 💪
Well done Ryan! 👏💪👍😊
I can’t believe 7 riders got disqualified for sandbagging… 🤦♂️
Mark sounds like a top bloke. 👍
I know! There was a literal B racing as a D. They must have been so bored.
Mark is brilliant. Great support and very patient.
Congrats Ryan! Well deserved mate😍
Cheers 🙌💪
Congratulations! You deserved the win. You are a positive example for never give up!!!!
Relentless forward progress. 💪
Cheers my friend. 🙌
100% effort.. EPIC..Compulsive viewing! Brilliant mate! Love it!
Thank you. I'm pleased you liked the vid. 💪
Well done Ryan what an effort I’m sure it feels great❤.
Awesome job Ryan, so pleased for you - such an inspiration!
Cheers David. Pleased you enjoyed the vid. 🙌
I’m blown away. Honestly so pleased for you I really mean that you deserve it.
I’ve been on Zwift for more than two years. It’s been a game changer for me and my health but I’ve been watching people at say cat B and above and I can’t relate to those People.
Watching your videos is a real inspiration, both the exercise, commitment and putting yourself out there on youtube.
Please don’t stop epic channel you popped up in my feed as you started Zwifting I reckon yours is the best Zwifting channel out there by far!
You’ve inspired me to try and record a bit as well. Won’t be as good as yours but it’s a good laugh and keeps me pedalling.
On another note did you sort a bike for your sportive coming up?
If you ever organise a IRL group ride would love to join happy to travel dude. Maybe share a bit about how we safely draft each other etc IRL. Could be laugh 😂
Thank you for the comment Gareth! 👌
I'm pleased you enjoy the vids. I enjoy making them and as long as I do, ill keep making them.
Good luck with your videos. Are they live now? I'll check them out.
I haven't yet bought a bike for the L2B bike ride. Avoiding it atm to be honest. 😅
Im so happy for you Ryan, congrats with your first 1 mate! :). Love the tactics with team Kaboom and one great Teammate Mark :)). You`ll never quit Zwift now mate :))
Cheers from Norway :)
Thanks Richard from Norway. I am really enjoying Zwift and hope to for a long time to come. Thanks for watching. 👌
You are right that you had to increase the participation within Zwift and if people watch you who do not use Zwift well I am sure they got motivated to join. I think what is most compelling is you are fairly new to cycling and a large guy all that make competing on bicycle very difficult. Although it seems in your most recent videos you are doing great at the weight loss. Despite all the reasons to hold back you jumped in with both feet. That is very inspirational. Perhaps time to throw in some videos on weight loss as you clearly know how to pull that off. Congrats on the win which was what I started this comment to do but honestly you are one of those posters that I never fast forward through. Oh and what is a power race. Is it where all categories are in the race? Seems to be a win equal to one with only D's although I guess it is more rewarding to win outright. In the Crits I did and I was in my 40s they grouped my age group with the young guys so same thing but on the road. If you can find some Crits that are on a good course you might have some fun. By good course some I have done only had a little bump in the course not huge hills. When you go against these guys that are 120 pound you just do not stand a chance on a long steep hill. But carry on, do not suspect you could ever get down to 120 as you look to be a big strong guy but as you drop weight you have the heart to do well.
Thanks for taking the time to write this comment Tony. I really really appreciate that.
I will make a vid about weightloss, probably the only thing I can talk confidently about.
I am going in the right direction with my cycling, next step is to venture out into the roads. 💪
Perfect 🔥. Fantastic Race
Thanks David 🙏🙌
Congratulations, Ryan! Well deserved! The internet is strange. Why am I so excited for someone I've never met?
In all seriousness, hell of a race, you've earned those good feelings.
Lol thanks Mike. Virtual high five. 🙌
Congrats Ryan. Delighted for you and great to see your fitness journey.
Cheers. 😉🙌
Well done!
You absolute champ Ryan! Killing it!🎉
Cheers Jason. 💪🙌
Booooom 💥
Well done Ryan. That 1st place feeling is awesome and addictive. Here's to more wins 🏆 🎉
Thanks Phil. 💪🙌
Congrats mate, great effort! Hard work pays off, what a journey 💪
It's great to see results after the thousands of hours. Thank you for watching. 💪
Well done! I made my Mrs watch this and she was delighted for you as well. Also if you're a person reading this who is a Cat A rider who rides in D, you are a Bellend.
Thanks Allen. Pleased you both enjoyed it.
Cracking win, Ryan! 🎉 Pleasure to join you on the journey and I am sure there is much to come! Super strong stuff! 💪 🚲
Thank you. 🙌
Great effort fella. I love the Kaboom selfless support. Proper stitch up from Darren though letting you go up the legsnapper alone 😂😂
Rob, Mark and the rest team Kaboom are awesome. Even Darren. 😅
Great effort, so fun to see this videos! Hope that I will be able to join some future ride! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Fredrik
Great Job!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! You would think that Zwift would somehow prevent that number of sandbaggers racing in a category that is too low.
They normally do but when you setup a race (like this one) the race organiser can turn off the 'Category Enforced' rule. I dont know why and from the looks of thing neither does anyone else.
Thanks for watching.
Congratulations! You did it! Great job.
And I didn't even realise. Gonna do it again. 💪
Wow!! Such an inspiration!!!!! Ryan you won man!!!
Thank you. 🙌
Now time for that first across the line win. 💪
Well done my good friend, love the vids, it’s helping me a lot as I’m new to the Zwift community. I think I’m in the wrong category, as you are well destroying me n the watts. Keep the running going as well as this will benefit you with your running.🏃🏻♂️🚴♂️
Thanks Geoff. You're not in the wrong Cat. Keep pushing, it's as much tactics as it is raw power. Don't worry, if I can do it then so can you. 💪
Incredible progress.
Chuffed for you 💪 It was only ever a matter of time 😀
I am definely entertained!
ZP are the only results that matter anyway
I'm pleased you're entertained. That's the main thing. 😉💪
Great work!!!!
Cheers. 🙌
Way to go Ryan! Great job. Keep up the good work.
Cheers Bill. 💪
That sir is an amazing effort! Killer course for racing on and you smashed it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’ve been bumped up to Cat C so hopefully see you there soon! 👍🏻
Congratulations on your promo. Good for you. 🙌💪
@@RyanCondon well it’s back up after being demoted but I’ll take it. Cat C is a big level up
Really happy for you Ryan, well done, your so inspiring!
Thanks John. I was over the moon. Thanks for watching. 👌
@@RyanCondon i could tell. Made me smile big time. Love your content and enthusiasm. I'll try join in on one of your races you advertise. I'll be riding as a domestique for you 😎

LEEEETS GOOOO!
Awesome win🎉😂
Yessssssir!!!! 🍾🍾🍾 Let’s run it back and DO IT AGAIN!
Hey Erik. Now time for that first across the line win. 😉 SOOOON!
Pen assignments are randomly selected by Zwift HQ. Nobody knows which cat starts in which pen.
Awesome Ryan. What an inspiring journey you are on.
Thank you. Pleased you enjoyed the vid.
183 BPM, I thought you was going to die...Excellent job.
So did I! 💓
Well done. One tip increase your cadence your grinding at low rpm too much you will find higher rpm easier
Great win on a brutal course, mate! Well done!
Thanks Robert. 👌
@@RyanCondon Looking out for your next cat E race to hopefully jump in and give you a race on 😎💪🏻
See you at the DGDC ride next Saturday, Ryan. It should be a great ride and get spicy up volcano 😎
Fantastic, well done 👏
Thanks Lisa. You're gonna like next weeks vid. 😉
Awesome job mate!
Thanks. 👍
Big inspiration and great CZcams material!
A suggestion? You talk about winning a D race, (hope i dont sound rude) but a win where you dont draf a higher rider (as a goal) or in a D-team
I'd say that's more of a question than a suggestion but happy to answer as I expected there to be some questions over my recent videos involving help from better Zwifters.
I've only drafted a better rider or a team, like in the Epic Race video I made, three times in races. Mainly to have them teach me race craft which has been invaluable.
You have to remember two things, I never setout for this race and video to be a winning race, I had accepted an invite to join two other riders who wanted to ride with me. I made it clear that I didn't think I had a win in me. That was evident.
The second is that people race and collaborate all the time. I see it in races, friends drafting each other to the end and then sprinting for the win.
Id also say that anyone could latch on to me and draft aswell like in the race last week, loads used me and the Kaboom team to their advantage.
I also raced the Big Ring last week with an A+ Zwifter coaching me the whole way, he also helped two other D's and a C who latched on. Because he helped draft them the same as me that other D went onto win which I have no problem with....
... However to answer your question. 99.9% of my races are solo efforts like the Muckle Yin one and my amibitions dont involve winning with help. It's just a welcome break from fumbling along in the dark.
Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
Congratulations Ryan.
Thank you. 👍
Great job!!!🎉
Thank you Debbie. 👌
Well done 👏👏👏👏
Thank you Franny. 🙌
Well done on the 1st place Ryan
Thanks
Brill!
Wow, congrats mate. Zwift power should just be integrated into Zwift.
It really should. This would fix the issue overnight. Thanks for watching. 🙌
Great Ride Ryan 🎉
Cheers James.
I’ll try and join you for your next race when you go for the win and try and help you out! Keep being you Ryan! Bloody legend!!
Thank you sir. 🙌
Well done with a win although i understand it doesn't feel like a proper win as you didn't cross the line first. However it shows how great your progress has been since your first race (it could be your new favourite route, as no one likes the leg snapper haha)
Its grown on me. Lol 💪
It’s a new Video day!!!! Love it!!
🤣
