- Several people have asked us to do a video on how we set up an ARB style awning by yourself. Here is how I do it. A little practice and modification of my process and you can do it easily by yourself as well!
I also included tips on securing in high winds.

Ordered my cam jams, thanks for the video ,I don't use my ARB since people think I've been drinking every time I try to set it up or take it down.
OMG! That's too funny! It just takes a little practice. I've got the benefit of setting up rooms and awnings over and over again. But I still continue to refine the process. Just learned a new shortcut today!

Give me Rocky clay soil anyway! It might take a couple tries to get a stake down in Maine's Rocky soil but after you get the pins down you can go get Lobstah rolls for lunch!

I leave 4 cam jams on the hook loops in the bed of my truck. Use them to tie down paddle boards and keep stuff from shifting around. Thanks for the great recommendation for the extra support arms when using the cabin. Added that to my to-do list.

Thank you for watching and commenting. A lot of factors go into that like how protected is the campsite, weather forecast, and the area we are in. Always better safer than sorry.

I have a question about mounting the ARB awning. More on placement really. Right now I've got mine (6 footer) mounted To my roof rack at two points with an equal amount both forward and aft of those mounting points, about 20". I'm going to need to change that to probably 6" from the mount point forward and 34" from the mount point aft. This is so the trailer side opening of the ARB room will fit around the fender of the teardrop and fit flush to the side of the trailer. I know ARB suggests not more than about 24 inches out beyond the mount point. Do you think l might run into problems having too much overhang out from the mount point aft?
I don't think you will have an issue, especially being aft of the rear mount. We just did the ARB annex room mod on a 6.5ft ARB annex room. We had to slide it forward to get clear of the zipper on the front edge of the door. Then I sewed through the zipper in the fender area to lock it in place. Was the first one I had done on the 6½ ft awning but it turned out really nice.
