    I cherish my old fenwick aetos 7'2" med/moderate. I've replaced every rod in my lineup, but until it breaks, it's the best squarebill rod ever made.

    I can’t rave enough about my P5 Madbull. I literally use it for almost every treble based bait in my arsenal. You can even Texas rig with in grass with the zoom ultra vibe speed worm. I’m tempted to drop shot with it for a day just for laughs! Lol

    I wish Megabass would update their Tomahawk line with some new offerings,1 of which would be for their Big M baits and others in the 1.5oz+ baits like 6,8,10 xds etc.

    Man, I've been dying to get on the water since it warmed up, but I've had equipment issues, truck issues, weather issues- you name it. Plus, everything around me is flooded and muddy as hell- if there's current then it's ripping like a torrent. But- I finally found a little lake that's spring fed so- not that muddy- and it's up but not extremely flooded. Planned a trip for today, got everything loaded, drove to the lake- and this is a tiny lake mind you- only 20 acres, it's like a big pond. But they had 3 shock boats on it today- I couldn't believe it. I swear something doesn't want me to go fishing this year- I just went back home. The lake is too small for 3 shock boats to be working away and you expect to catch anything. They were working the banks so- even if you found a bite, they would've been there soon enough to shut it down. And tomorrow the storms start again- oh joy. Every spring man, without fail...

    Stupid question guys but I'm new to this bait. What side is the top on the bull flat ( since one side is kinda rounded(assuming the flat side) ?? Thinking this might be nice on the free rig.

    Mind if I ask...why wouldn't you take the z-crank elsei instead of the madbull? Seems like a more natural progression. How does the z-crank compare with the fss? thanks

    What are your guys thoughts on the P5 Z Crank? Where does that one fit?

    • @danejohnson3995
      @danejohnson3995 Před 2 lety +1

      I wasn’t wild about it last year throwing Super Z-1’s and 2’s and set it aside fairly early. It’s not like it’s a bad rod-it is still a P5-but I thought it was a little too stiff to really throw small squarebills adequately, even the LBOs. It would still be good for something, but I haven’t experimented much with it. Smaller lipless cranks perhaps, or smaller bladed baits, or topwater. I’m going to give it another chance and work with it more this season and try to figure out what I want to do with it. I would definitely be interested in what others think of this rod, though.

    • @thehookuptackle_usa
      @thehookuptackle_usa  Před 2 lety +4

      That rod is amazing at the small cranks and Shad’s once they’re in the water / but casting them is not easy on that rod. It’s perfectly at home with the Z3, blitz DR, and more 3/8oz stuff

    • @danejohnson3995
      @danejohnson3995 Před 2 lety

      After seeing the Hookup’s repose, I should clarify that yes, my problem with the Z-Crank is strictly casting distance with those 1/4 oz baits.

    • @tylermims
      @tylermims Před 2 lety

      I’m glad this was asked. I picked up an Orochi XXX Rattle Viper to throw the smaller stuff. It feels like a very similar action to the Seth Feider Tatula Elite Topwater/Jerkbait rod. Haven’t had a chance to fish it yet though. Was curious how the Z-Crank would compare.

    • @willembry5469
      @willembry5469 Před 2 lety

      @Dane Johnson Try a Daiwa Tatula SV on your Elseil. Makes a world of difference. I can send a Z-3 as far as a 6XD on a 7’6” rod
