You were hoping for 20 kits and you got 3, still the elastic band was pretty good.
I ordered one of these myself - I went for the £23 Aircraft bundle. Like you I'm a Club member, but they ran a double-discount promotion a few days after this video so I got 20% off! Something like £18.39 for the £23 bundle, and free postage.
I got three 1/72 kits:
A55331 McDonnell Douglas F-15A Eagle Large Starter Set £21.99
A02069 Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.1 £10.99
A01004 North American P-51D Mustang £8.25
So that's £41.23, and I saved roughly £23 with my bundle. I actually wanted the Defiant, so I feel I did well on that alone. The Eagle is not a particularly good kit but it's better than some I've seen, and I think it'd serve as good practice more than anything.
Thats a great package.. to me it was like christmas.. which ever model I got I was happy with as its something to build innit :) Let me know how you got on with the F-15A..

Hi, I've bought a few of these bundles. They don't vary them much but still great value. I've bought three of the 1/35 tank sets (one for another guy as I'm a club member) and for £60, after a 20%discount, I got a Tiger 1 (late version), a "Priest", a GMC "Tank Destroyer" and a Sherman. I think that's what you'd get if you bought them now. The Tiger retails at £46.25, The Priest at £40.75, The Tank Destroyer is £37.39 and the Sherman is £32.99 making a total of £157.38. You really can't go wrong. They're all made using old Academy molds which I think are pretty good.
I have a friend who just does tanks and he said the were academy.. and worth building

Saw some in Aldi the other day and grabbed a couple as a gift for my brother, spitfire, FW-190, Hurricane and bf-109 for £5 each, 1:72 usually set you back £10-15 each so not bad, keep an eye out
I saw them and bought the range too.. Lidl did them last year but had a mustang in the mix..

I had the Hurricane - mine was Ian Gleed’s, the alternative I think was Peter Townsend’s. Fabulous and huge! Never got the little motor, though. That would be Christmas 1975 so dad made it. I made a complete hash of the Storch as a spotty teenager and never finished it. That’s a decent haul. Noticed the warm jacket - is it cold in the workshop or were you in a rush to open the box? 😁
I saw a spitfire built with that battery motor in a show and the motors were 20 quid.. original airfix..
Yes the attic is cold.. and noisy.. it will be sprayed with a foam next year to seal it.. believe it or not but i put (paid extra for) a raidiator up there but the heat just goes out of the roof.. lol..
@@MOS6510Models I spent a tidy sum on loft roof insulation - hasn’t made the slightest difference. The floor is carpeted though, so it’s nice to walk about!
@@jefthing I have spent 4K on the attic.. insulation then the floor on top of that.. so all above me is felt and tile.. so a company is coming in to spray a foamin between the rafters and that should keep it warm and quiet lol

Love the Storch! Sure, the Academy and Heller kits are more detailed, but I still love the Airfix one (half-a-officer and all) :-)

The most issue with airfix was their enamel paints they becoming crusty on the top, needs so many amounts of thinner for keeping the brushes clean.

I guess I’d hope they’d send you a box of kits that were all the same scale, though I suppose you always swap or resell anything you don’t fancy.
Personally I’d prefer the 20 smaller kits you were hoping for if I built military or aircraft.
yes,, i just wasnt expecting a 1/24 scale monster.. was my hopes raised? well yes but was i disappointed i didnt get 20 kits.. nope.. im very impressed with what i got in the box

i dont know if this help but at little fairs and circuses a wagon with pipe organs is referred to as a cal-i-o-pe so maybe they are adapting the term since it has many pipes or tubes just a thought

Nice deal ! Never built 1/48 scale before I'm abit of a sticker on 1/72.Aldi are doing some models £4.99 each just a small range though and you have to look deep in the containers to spot.

I bought the ships bundle. Like this one it had three kits, the Golden Hind (£36.00), HMS Hood (£18.75) and Bismark (£18.75). I also purchased the tanks bundle. 4 x 1/35 scale models. M4A3 Sherman, M7 Priest, GMC Tank Destroyer and the Late Tiger 1. This bundle saved me around £82 on current prices.
The M7 priest is an academy tank i think? unless someone else knows different :)
@@MOS6510Models I believe the Tiger is also a reboxed model. Says on underside of tank and on a couple of sprues "Tiger I early". Yet Box art states Tiger I Late Version.

@@MOS6510Models I've lost the link. Another video on utube, chap building the "Early" version. Stated not to use certain parts. I noted them on the parts I had. Question are these both the same kit?. The late version I have does contain (?) the parts to also build the early version.
That Hurricane is about £50 from other sellers. Wouldn't buy it from Airfix for £65 that's for sure. I wonder if I was to order the same thing, would I get the same kits? Knowing my luck, I would end up with 3 of the crappy Vintage Classic airliners or something lol.

Everyone gets the same kits.
They have now sold out of the Vintage Classics mystery box. They still have the Aircraft, Tanks and Ships boxes.

In Germnan 'ie' is usually pronounced 'ee', so it's FEEZLER Storch (stork). 'Ei' is pronounced 'I', as in Reich...

Good luck with that 1/24th scale Hurricane I built that when it was first released back in the day and I remember a lot of fit issues, but to be fair all of the early Airfix 1/24th scale models had fit issues. Best wishes Vic.

the T34 Calliope, which was named after the musical instrument and is correctly pronounced "cal-ee-ope" as that's a common pronunciation for the instrument in America. Outside of those usages, it should be pronounced "cal-i-oh-pee".

I think pronunciation is a minefield. Calliope is pronounced Kalee-oh-pea, and Storch is Stork (IIRC the CH is pronounced K in German).

I know!! the problem is if i build it i dont have anywhere of storing it.. SWMBO is sick of the ones around the telly now lol
@@MOS6510Models I only have one 1/24 kit that’s the typhoon it’s my dream build I think a 1/24 kit is like an equivalent to 5 1/72 kits I find them special. I have seen a video of the hurricane it’s not too bad for a vintage kit the engine is really good
