  • we installed campervan 240v electrics into our self built campervan. installed an induction hob and plug sockets along with a few other fiddly bits and bobs to make our home on wheels alot more usable.
    next job is plumbing!
I have since found out the reason why I need a consumer unit so while I'm off grid it'll be okay but soon I'll need to add one before I electric hook up instal on the vw crafter van conversion.
Thanks for checking out our vanlife uk channel here on youtube where we self convert vans for full time van life in the UK.

Hi, looking good. One thing, on most sink drains the rubber washer fits on the underside of the sink and the thin white washer fits on the inside.

The rubber washer goes on the underside of the sink. Take the old one off and use the new one. Use sanitary sealant under the chrome part of the waste that sits on the top of the sink. I’m a plumber. Trust the process 👍🏻

Just be careful with the electrics. When I hear you say things like “the plug has a fuse so it’s ok” it makes me worry. You should fuse all connections according to the amp rating of the cable. What you don’t want is the whole van burning down, your insurance catches wind that you had electrics that weren’t compliant for a dwelling, and you lose it all. All for the sake of a fuse costing pennies.

Nout wrong with how you wired in the socket mate..essentially a house is a giant extension lead. How you done it is correct ☺️

I didn't know if I needed a consumer unit between inverter and plug

    • @karlossmith3714
      @karlossmith3714 Před 2 měsíci

@@iNDI_VAN_A_JONES consumer unit is used between the hook up on side of van and then any sockets..but that’s because there isn’t a fuse anywhere. As you got fused plug and fused inverter that how a lot of conversion places do it 👍🏻

Tidy job but just beware of electric regs.
I wouldn’t bother charging anything off the usb in the socket.
You don’t want to be using the inverter for that when you have a perfectly good 12v supply already.
You are going from dc to ac to go back to dc.

looking great but get yourself a consumer unit the breaker on them operates in milliseconds if theres a problem a fuse is nowhere near as fast in case of a problem without it someone could in theory be killed whilst we do use fused extension leads in our houses theres always a consumer unit first ,having lost an uncle to an electrical accident and seeing the devastation that followed as he left behind two young girls who had to go through child hood with out a father ,stay safe my freind your build is excellent but for a few pounds more theres just no point in taking risk to you or your loved ones

    Not looking bad ricardo ...
Pereonally (personally)id have made a hard board template ,and used a palm router ,for the cut outs (watched plenty of JSK koubou vids 😂)
Only thing that would niggle me ,is on the info panel for soalr (solar)and battery capacity ... that little mark ,in the top right corner ,would iritate me .
    But rhe (the)apprentice sid(did) alright ..
Just a small tip for them ,to help gain confidence .. try out task on scrap wood first , then go for it.
Youll do fine !! Keep it up.
P.s. watch a dew(few) of JSL koubou videos , you may pick up helpful tios ,to boost you more . !!!
    All the best guys .
And im at it again with my large thumb syndrome ,smelling mistakes
Just thought of another channel for the apprentice , stumpy nubs .
Both these are wood working channels , one even builds their own tools and jigs !
Anyhow ,if that whute mark was a mistake , could always get some of that wax stick ,like a large crayon ,colour matched to blend that area . !
