In my 26 years of life I’ve never experienced a feeling like the one 80s music gives me !! It is a cure for the souls !!! Bring the real music back !!!!!!!!!!
When artists of 80's went in to create music, it was a passionate affair. This was music you can feel! These days, you can tell the difference. Low vibrational, and full of garbage. Most! Not all.
Nard is a very important person in hip hop. He’s waaay more than this song. At 16 he was a jazz monster and played on hits. Then he played with Miles Davis at 19. Then decided to make some money song he wrote produced, arranged, and sang on out of his own pocket and came out with a number one song which is this album. Unfortunately he died at 50 this year. It het me really hard because I watched it all happen in real time. We were all part of the NY music scene. It’s weird to say but he was one of my peers and everyone knew he was different immediately.
RIP Mr. Wright 😞 This song instantly transmits me back to mid '80s summer. My childhood aches right now, but I'm so thankful for your contributions to the arts and our culture infinitely. 🙏❤❤
"For You, O LORD, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling" (Psalm 116:8). Stay humble, & be grateful to the Lord!
Bernard Wright when this jam came out, man this was really the shit! I still listen to it today and still jam off of it. So many good memories from back in the day. The 80's was the shit as far as I am concerned when it came to music. The best era ever. Very care free and everyone had such a good time and really enjoyed themselves, unlike in today's time if you try to go out now to a club and have a good time, you doing more ducking from bullets than you are dancing or enjoying yourself. I am glad I was born during the time and era I was cause I have no regrets at al when it came to our music and entertainment.
Sad this voice is now silenced forever but I sure didn't know he was Roberta Flack's godson. May he rest in peace and I love how LL Cool J sampled this song for Lounging.
I remember when I was like 8 I heard this song on the radio in the car with my dad. I got home and started playing the melody from memory on my keyboard. Tried to find the song for years and then I heard the LL and Total version. It sounded like it but something was different. Finally I’ve found the original song I heard on the radio that day and I feel like my life has come full circle. 🙏🏽
Love this BROTHER! He came to Dallas in the late 80's and stayed here for several years. He wrote and produced a couple of songs for our group( The Buster Brown Band) and played with us on numerous occasions. He also produced music for other groups such as THE MAC BAND. He's an awesome talent and extremely GIFTED!
I remember playing this song almost the day it came out on my College radio station in Albany New York, it was on GRP records which really surprised me because that's not really a black music label, this song flew high from the first day I played it, the phone rang off the hook with people wanting to know who it was, still sounds as good today as it did way back then!

@Yemi source? Or are you basing everything on your experience? There's a whole world outside so called culture on tv or people in the ghetto. For the bad ones should men take responsibility, or is it all on women? Men saying they want a project bitch are any better?
@Yemi apart of intelligent conversation is having evidence to back your claims. You are just generalizing. Proof is when you say plenty of women lack context. Do you generalize whenever someone doesnt agree with you? Or is it because you are the one lacking what is needed for an intelligent conversation? You said women stopped romance when they said they wanted rough necks. Where is your evidence to say that's what women want? I'm sure the vast majority dont want that. Should I say that men stopped romance when they said they wanted project bitches? Of course not because that is a generlization. There are numerous factors that go into a cultural change. The fact that you want to blame women for this shows you lack either knowledge on the subject or maturity. Site some sources if you wish to prove me wrong. Of course you will tap out because you clearly have no basis.
Hearing this song back in the day when I was in my early teens, I felt this was how it was when you fell in love, It carries so much emotion in the voices, it has never lost its warmth even years on!
