I'm a Chelsea fan and Jorginho wasn't even among our top 5 players last season. Kante, Mount, Mendy, Silva and Rudiger were all far better than him. Donnaruma, Chiesa, Spinazzola and Bonucci were more important than him in the Italy team. He should be nowhere near the award. Its a joke. The guy is probably the most overrated player in the world right now. Imagine putting him above Lewandowski and Messi.

Honestly it's just Copa America. In club stats I doubt Messi even breaks into top 5, since Haaland, Mbappe, Benzema etc have been better this year for club. Lewandowski should be the sensible favourite for me, although little chance he wins it (it's a PR award after all)
Most goals, most G+A, more trophies than Messi, better record in big games as well. While Messi doesn't have much achievements other than a superb performance in copa America, he just hasn't been consistent throughout the year, after he has been awful for PSG. Lewy has started the new season superbly as well. He deserves it

According to Transfermarkt, so far for PSG Messi has played 2 matches as a SS and 3 matches as a RW.
We can see Messi hasn’t been playing as a midfielder based on his positioning as well.
For example, in the match against Lyon, Messi’s average position was more advanced and more central than the average position of the striker (Mbappé).
