- Augustgrad was defended by three strong-points preventing zerg forces from entering the city from the outside, although Sarah Kerrigan and her own zerg had already entered the city, along with the Hyperion and Raynor's Raiders. Powerful Dominion defenses such as Sky Fury Squadron, Pride of Augustgrad battlecruisers and the Odin, plus groups such as Alpha Squadron and Sons of Korhal marines were present to defend Mengsk's Palace from the zerg. Kerrigan's forces were able to destroy the three main Dominion entrenchments, which subsequently enabled Zagara, Dehaka, and Alexei Stukov to send their own troops into the city to reinforce Kerrigan. The joint zerg-Raider forces were able to fight their way to Mengsk's Palace where they shattered the palace gates. Kerrigan entered it alone to deal with Mengsk... Revenge is always worth every effort.
is kerrigan that green girl on the cover of the first game?
@@nunyabuziness1162 Yes
I loved how Raynor put down both his normal visor and the blast visor when Kerrigan got back up. He knew things were going to get messy.
Yeah lol. He does the same thing in the original Heroes of the Storm trailer, although he has an epic smirk when it he does it there.
I have to say, Raynor might just be my favorite VG character of all time. His voice acting was perfect. Just perfect.
oh wow, good eyes, never noticed that.
I love how Blizzard does such attention to detail for character things
legit went "NOPE" and covered his eyes lol
Thanks for this comment man. Never noticed that 'til I read this and went back and watched that. So good. XD
"Always was" -- i shed a tear.
Niño Paulo Reblando I did to... That moment where they both pretty much admited the love they have for, each other. But circumstance would not allow them to be together
Me too 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
"I go to face him, having renounced everything, my humanity, my identity, the man I loved, but I will not face this enemy alone. I am the SWARM"
That's bound to stir up some goosbumps
Just going to note: Imagine just how weird it'd be to be one of Raynor's people and have the swarm just running past you, the same one you've fought for years.
When the Queen of Blades turns from evil to good.
Tom Especially after they worked with the Zerg and got betrayed like twice.
Also weird when a baneling saved you from the Odin.
@Matthew Caughey yeah, it was when they got invaded by the zergs. Better fight together against a foe of both of you and later handle the war between them.
And then this Zergling followed me home as my pet. His name shall be Zergy. Who’s a good flesh eating guard zergling
23:13 lol Jim puts on the second visor because he knows things about go down down.
The look on Kerrigan's face after 23:30... the animation team's done a good job with her subtle facial expressions
I really like Zagara. She knew the best way to eventually get control of the swarm was by being the most loyal servant there is
It paid off too.
(Spoiler warning)
When Kerrigan became a Xel’naga and killed Amon, she named Zagara as her replacement.
I do not think she was THAT interested in power once she realized Kerrigan is a very strong leader, and what kind of shoes Zagara would have to fill if she took the reins. So, she 'evolved' into those by learning from Kerrigan.
Vision. She knew that the Swarm would be at its strongest as Kerrigan continued to build and unify it. She wanted to lead THAT swarm, the one Kerrigan had already unified and built into greatness, not some fragment that she would struggle to keep together. Until that happened the smartest thing Zagara could do is support her efforts to reunite the Swarm and wait for her turn.
Also Kerrigan spared her the first time because she was already impressed by Zagara's intelligence and lateral thinking in trying to talk Kerrigan out of killing her way back when. That was a step the Zerg had NEVER taken before. She was impressed that a natural born Zerg would decide to try to talk things out, even as a last resort, and decided that she wanted to encourage the Zerg to evolve in that direction.
Is she that one zerg who was tasked by kerrigan to attack a protoss ship?
@@aspopulvera9130 No, that one special brood mother was a plot point unacknowledged in LotV, which is a shame because now we don’t know what happened to that Protoss transport.

pretty sure she turned her appearance human again after she basically became a god.
ye, didnt her shadow & voice turn up in that bar Jim used to hold up in at the end?..
Yeah it did but it also showed red hair blowing in the wind when she walked in which leads me to believe she looks human again
aye, heh no spawning pool fun for Jim Raynor
I would let abathur turn me into an efficient zerg and be the king of the swarm and marry kerrigan.
she is a damn beautiful zerg
“Nice quote. I’ll engrave it on your tombstone.”
She recycled what she said to Fenix, and dumbed it down for Arcturus.
"Thank you Jim. For Everything."
"My Pleasure, darlin'. Always was."
AUGH, I TEARED UP. I ALWAYS DO. He loves her and wants to keep her with him, but he knows he can't. She knows she can't stay either.
Volant Caedis bawlz like a baby

The final cinematic, always affects me.

Love it how Jim puts the blast shield over his visor as Kerrigan goes to town, as if to say "yep, shit's about to get messy"
Blizzard always has some of the best cinematics.
Oh yeah! They take their time... Lots of it...
Not anymore mhaha 😈
21:58 When a macro zerg thinks he can rush a micro terran.
underrated comment x,D
The part where Jim steps in to save Sarah is awesome, but the best part is where you can see the seething hatred for Mengsk on her face as she gets up before she assaults him. Great cutscene.
Snake4175 ikr I been waiting kill Mengsk and see him died for a long long time after what he did to Jim and Sarah
Mengsk used to be an officer of Terran Confederacy and led Son's of Korhal. So he is expert at using CMC suit and Gauss Rifle. If he had CMC suit, he could've at least resist Raynor's attack. Of course, he never expected someone other than Kerrigan to barge into his office. Even if Kerrigan brought some Zergs with her, he could've finished them off with Xelnaga Artifact, but it was ineffective against humans.
the misty look they both had in their eyes... the i love u still look. even at the end " it was my pleasure... always was." i shed a tear the first time i saw it
"Always was."
Right in the feels
Even after all these years, the cut scenes (non cgi) still look great. Blizzard's art department did a great job
20:50 I can not shake the feeling that they cut out a Hero Mission right there.
LITERALLY IMAGINE IF THAT WAS A MISSION OMG
"Oh no! My arch nemesis appears to have an ace in their sleeve! Guess I`ll just stand perfectly still for solid 15 seconds"
Raynor and Kerrigan is one of the best love stories of all time. :(
It just really sucks that LOTV left us in the damn dark at the end.

This was truly an awesome final battle. A combination of all the Zerg forces fighting in one ultimate push.
Once all the different Zerg forces got into the Palace district, Mengsk was SO screwed.
23:20 - "You can never suffer enough for all the lives you ruined Arcturus"
The sheer and utterly delicious cynical hypocrisy .. how I absolutely love it. The brutal irony is definately not lost.
You're absolutely right!
Due mengsk ultimately being responsible for Kerrigan becoming the queen of blades. The blood of everyone she has ever killed is ultimately on his hands just as much as hers.
@@djcuevas1057 Technically Mengsk wanted the Zerg to basically kill her, but even he never suspected that they'd actually capture & infest her with the essence of zerg powers. It would've been more funny had she retained her rifle while keeping her blades.
Yvette Szentesi are you guys forgetting that she was literally being manipulated by Amon and had no control of her actions.
to be fair, she didn't say she was avenging those other lives, but merely mentioning that her own life was also screwed over by Mengsk. It's was purely revenge, hardly any avenging.
*_You made us all into monsters._* *E P I C*
Epic? More like cliche as fuck. Idk what happened to the writing team but SC2 Kerrigan is so generic it hurts.
What pep talk does Rayner give his troops when telling them to kill terrans in order to cover his zerg girlfriend's invasion?
I doubt his resistance troop need any more pep talk. They must have kill thousands of Mensk troops by then. This is like the thing they have been fighting for all this time, Mensk downfall.
have you ever looked into the world? humans kill each other for less...
Probably the same one as when he murdered thousands of Terrans back when he teamed up with the protos and the zerg in brood wars, man thinking back I don't even know if we play as the "good guys"
The same pep talk that Winston Churchill gave when he said "If Hitler invaded Hell, I would make at least a favourable reference to the devil in the House of Commons."
Basically, Mengsk was hated above ALL villains to where Raynor's Raiders would rather Zerg eat him and his followers alive than keep him on his throne.
They must've also concluded that the idea of living under Kerrigan's potential terror the 2nd time around won't be as bad.
Well, being Jim Raynor I'm sure it was a really good one.
god damn those eyes that she look at Raynor when she said " thank you Jim , for everything "... those are human eyes.. ... holy fuck blizzard ...
Oh my Raynor comin to save me

This is what happens when you do weird voice acting
Snowdrop - hello fellow human Even without the weird accent it would probably say that. Auto transcription doesn’t simply translate word for word (it’s too difficult for a computer), but rather looks at how the word is used in the sentence. “Essence” doesn’t usually fall the the very end of a sentence, so it looked for a word with similar sound patterns that does.
AWriterWandering the e does sound quite a bit like a though so i believe the voice acting had a big part

[Kerrigan enters Mengsk's inner office in his palace on Korhal; he has a cigar in his teeth and what looks like a lighter in his hand as he turns and stands to face her.]
Arcturus Mengsk: "Hello, Kerrigan. I've been waiting for you."
Sarah Kerrigan: [smirking] "I'm surprised you haven't tried to escape."
Arcturus Mengsk: "Escape?" [chuckles evilly] "My dear, I'm afraid you've got it all wrong."
[Mengsk reveals the "lighter" to be a control switch, as the Xel'Naga artifact raises from a compartment in the floor; he presses the control, blasting Kerrigan with energy, which causes her to writhe and scream in pain and agony.]
Arcturus Mengsk: "Really. Did you think I'd keep an animal like you close to me without some kind of insurance policy?" [gives Kerrigan another painful jolt] "Clearly, you are my greatest failure. Now, at long last... you will die!"
[Mengsk is suddenly grabbed from behind by a power-armored Jim Raynor, the switch in his hand crushed as he's lifted off the floor.]
Jim Raynor: [raising his visor] "Change of plans."
[Raynor angrily hurls Mengsk across the room and draws his pistol, but steps back as Kerrigan advances on the fallen emperor, impaling him against the wall with her draconic wing-spikes.]

Arcturus Mengsk: [hatefully spatting at her through clenched teeth] "I made you into a monster, Kerrigan!"

In the book the relationship between the characters is so strong and well depicted.
Especially this between Raynor and Kerighan

Someday in a future StarCraft (if there's a future StarCraft) we're gonna encounter a machine intelligence that'd make the zerg look like a bundle of plushies. I can imagine a massive wave of nano machines just flowing across a planet. Dismantling it and all things on it to the atomic scale, so machine could repurpose the material to its needs.
This mission is wholesome. Vengeance is sweet.
Who would watch the entire movie? .... if it was made :). Anyway, this has got to be one of the most heartbreaking love stories of all times and yet ... somehow ... it´s just how it has to be.
I don't think you could squeeze this into a 90 minute movie. This is miniseries material.
@@hagamapama Judging from the recent Halo tv show which I actually find decent there is one problem, costs. Sci Fi is extremely expensive to make, Starcraft would be a step up from Halo in terms of costs.

Valerian then becomes Emperor.
Yeah, try telling the population that a person which invaded their homeland ALLIED WITH A ZERG INVASION FORCE is their emperor.
I don't think that could realistically be a stable or popular government.

Everyone hated Arcturus, and the zerg came, killed him then immediately left. That would come off as more of an oddity than an outrage.
@@howlingdin9332 They came, massacred thousands of soldiers... hardly "everyone hated arcturus", this guy made a high tech power from the few backwater colonies that were the Confederation in Starcraft in only 4 years. "just stay out of my way" most use catchphrase of the year
Wait... she could fly?! Why didn't she do that more often?
Not enough energy
Don't let her go
Don't ever...let her go...
She was kind of uncharacteristically slow to react there. I think she had plenty of time to run him through between the time he said "You've got it all wrong" and the time it took for him to click the button, the floor to open up, and the weapon to rise up out of it.
But, I suppose then we wouldn't get the awesome Raynor entrance. ;)
To be fair, I think it was just a momentary shock upon recognising the Keystone, the same artefact that bought her down on Char.
I want to point out that out of the 3 campaign missions of Starcraft II.
Raynor's last mission is the hardest because your expected to defend it alone, given the only help you have is the artifact that annihilates any zerg nearby. No help from any other Terran Commanders whatsoever...
In Kerrigan's mission, you have the help of your underlings, Stukov, Dehaka and Zagara plus Raynor to cover your left flank. ( I noticed that Raynor sends out a shit load of units later into the mission )
In Artanis' mission, you get to defend with the other Protoss Commanders, Karax, Alarak and Vorazun. Although they may be useful in holding off early without assistance, once their structures die out, they don't rebuild. I also haven't noticed if they rebuild their forces either but I know they use their abilities atleast.
Still a better love story than twilight
2:28 A Terran Battlecruiser is inbound on your location.
OP
"My pleasure darling. Always was."
That's a pretty epic closing line.
The final mission for zerg is total chaos and it gives the player a huge advantage over the terran by a long shot
Try it on Brutal. The Dominion never lets up the pressure on yours or Raynor's base, and running out of resources is a real possibility towards the end.
Jim is such a damn boss

Valerian and Matt were both like "Jimmy, we need to talk about your gf"
Even though this is starting to become an "oldish" game (Ps4 was 3 years from releasing in 2010), the visuals and voice acting are still absolutely top notch.
Also why didn't the xel'naga artifact turn kerrigan into a human again as it did in WOL
She was primal zerg. Also it did not discharge nearly as much energy as when Raynor used it.
The Xel-Naga artiact was basically plot device. In WOL worked only against zerg, killing them instantly, but deinfested Kerrigan(very convinient, because logically, without her zerg parts, she should die instantly too).
In HOTS, it served the same purpose the Kryptonite have for Superman.
In Legacy of the void, it suddenly became anti-terran weapon, working only agains terran, but convininelty, doesn't kill them, but only immobilize. Also, it became a key to location.
In the end, it became anti-khala weapon, so Protoss could liberate their Golden Armada from Amon.
And.. when the whole thing was over, the artifact, conviniently again, just decided to dissapear.
The entire idea bout it is pile of craps. SC1 is much more unplesant for me to play, but had way better story writers.
@@richardberner585 If a product happens to be a multipurpose device:
@@richardberner585 Nah. SC1 was full of plot conveniences and such too. And also, SC2 has like 20 times more story. Sure, some of it is lazy, but most of it is solid and delves much better into the world. And a few parts are gold.
Richard Berner I mean ofcourse it deinfested her, since it kills off zerg, and she was technically a zerg/terran hybrid.
In HOTS not nearly enough energy was used as in the final mission of WOL, and kerrigan was primal zerg, which is ofcourse a much stronger alternative to her former body, so it couldn’t have deinfested her.
In LOTV, it gets confusing as you mentioned, but moebius corps (and the hybrids) probably altered it, otherwise idk. LOTV seems to turn it into a 3 in 1 shampoo for evil stuff 🤷🏻♂️
I remember seeing the rough cut of the final scene and I wished that they had kept some more of the dialogue from it.
