May the spirits of yore bless Sir Tony for many more years to come!
Wonderful! NZ is quite a young land so I love the thought of 1000 year old churches and 5000 year old tracks.
every square cm dipped in blood n diseases!
you are a creepy one!
i like the non from and with men polluted aerea!
✌😁
After reading Michael Jecks’ medieval mysteries that take place in Exeter and on Dartmoor it was wonderful to actually see where these books took place. When I read the books again the scenes from this video will be in my mind. As always Sir Tony makes history come alive. He’s a national treasure.
I love these programs. I have to admit, seeing Tony stare at the bull, and the bull looking back at him made my day. Thank you for the excellent program.
I absolutely loved this! What a wonderful wander across the moor. Thank you for providing such a engaging program.
If that hound stood up he is taller than Tony! I love me some Tony though! :-) I have only been watching him since 1999 and I can still watch him here in America.
Thank you I love theses stories and the travels you take us on. Please keep them coming Good for you. Thank you.
I know that song about the old Lych way. My dad was Scottish and loved folk music and we had a folk trio here where I live in Portland Maine who did all of those old and newer songs. :-)
I never could have seen all of Dartmoor but it gave me a feeling of Wonder and of deep history of something deeper and a bit of creepiness. I would love to go back!
Thanks Tony really enjoyed this you need to do more of these beautiful country and animals
Thanks Tony, God chose this Solstice to take my beloved dog Yuki back, and this day I took Her down the old lych way, and laid her down, to lift Her up, In consecrated ground. I am moved at the seeming coincedence!
Beautifully done, Sir Anthony Robinson. Well Done.
Well, that was a relaxing break. The UK countryside is so breathtakingly beautiful and serene.
What a delightful video. Thank you.
I am not a religious man, but I do enjoy to travel, down the paths less traveled, for the serenity and countless minutes of thought. I just found this particular series and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Same here, not really a religious person me-self but I love hearing about the history of these areas, the stories, even if it does dive into religious aspects that happened etc..all of it,and i mean ALL OF IT, results in being history, which is very interesting!!🍻✌🍻🤘🍻👍🍻🤟
Thanks for another great story.
Great Documentary. Thank you oh so much. Watch & Enjoy.
Simply draws you in and I didn’t want the tales to end. The ole ways were in some sense a way to draw me in and keep me wanting more.
Absolutely love this

TONY ON CAMERA!!!
Just thank you!
im loving this series and it makes me wish we had things like this in north america
Not exactly the same, but the Native Americans had many roads that criss-crossed North America. The Blackfeet had the Old North Trail, parts of which can still be traversed in Glacier National Park--I think it took the Blackfeet over 4 years to walk the road end to end trading. Then there's the Natchez Trace or the Mojave Trail, roads used for hundreds of years. We have people in North America who had established religions, unique architecture, and cultural icons, too. I'm so proud of our people. The Hopewell Tradition is concurrent with Rome, as well as the Mayan late preclassical stage, and the Pre-Puebloan basketmakers in SW North America.
I mean, there are pyramids in Mexico. 🤷♂️
@@d.c.8828 ziggurats would be a more accurate term and that's generally considered central America if there was any ancient archeology in North America it has been for the most part destroyed by the last ice age. There is mounting evidence that people from the old world visited the new world in that time unfortunately the evidence is just gone. There are a few of the Inca on my roads left in South America and Central America there's certainly no 5,000 year old roads with such stories in North America
@@madam_mim parts is not mostly intact roads 5,000 plus years old. Not exactly the same as living in a land where you can just dig a hole in your garden and find things dating back to the Neolithic.
We have native history my friend too bad the Europeans had to destroy any and all trace of the enormous cities and holy sites used by the Aztec and myans and inca we have more history than anywhere its just coated with centuries of oppression
I'm from America but my family and ancestors watching your videos I feel my ancestors they say this is your home thanks Tony keep it up
But Tony, the stones do talk to us if we will only listen. Be safe on your journey my friend!
Thank you so much for letting us see these lovely places and their stories, Tony. My paternal Grandmother’s father’s people came from the area just a ways East of Wales in the farming area. The estate of Bostonian was the family seat. I would to see a show on this area and one on Wales in connection if possible? Just a little North West of this area’s show!
My dear, this show is almost 8 years old.
What is estate of Bostonian
@@johnboston5045 Whatever it was it was in the North West East! . South is obviously Right Out! Lol
Nice video about (the old lych way) from excellent historic channel and amazing explaining of historic events thanks for sending
I love “ Show of Hands”’s song Old Lych Way. They wrote it but it’s very evocative. All their music is amazing.
Some have been touted as traditional songs by some people but were in fact written by Steve Knightly and Phil Beers.
@@katmandudawn8417 okay ..as you like
I enjoy these treks & I'm NOT a real history buff, but this, timeline, & time team (also Tony Robinson). Engage me. ❤💯👍🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠
Can't believe how much energy he has
Merci à vous pour cette balade très bien commentée à travers un paysage féérique.
What a privilege it must be to be able to walk along roads and paths that are over a thousand years old. Where I live in Surrey BC Canada I live on Old Yale Road which is only over 100 years old. That's old for this area of the world.
Tony this place is beautiful in Whales UK wow nice cultural places to live with nature.
I think Tony is onto something here. What if the show combined history with archeology and rather than thinking about the past actually find the history of the people and the homes and communities that they lived in.
I love Dartmoor and now I am stuck back in America. I never should have left the UK. I was born in America but 20 years in the UK made it home.
So go back
Unless I am much mistaken, the monks of Buckfast are singing the plainsong of the tune used on Time Team for all things mediaeval
Please, can You point out the exact title of the first chorus?
Gotta look and see if there's another video about the ancient rights of way.
I always wondered if the hound of the Baskervilles was inspired by large Roman war dogs (or their descendants).
Re: the funerals. In my English family, it was unacceptable for a woman to attend a funeral until the 1970s. No idea where that came from. We came from rural North Somerset'
I knew an Australian who insisted you needed to turn your back if a funeral drove past. That or go inside and shut the door. I’m not sure if that was supposed to protect you or show some sort of respect.
Since I live between the local funeral home and the cemetery I don’t bother much.
I might stand respectfully if I’m doing something frivolous.
11:19 I'm sorry, the what??
Mmmmm... Buckfast Tonic Wine!
I have read the Abbott's way.
Is Tony a Hoibbit? He looks like he may be a Hobbit....
There are some things best not known.
I worked at Broadmoor prison.
Ah, the computer changed the name on me just as I clicked it! The place is “Bostock” They changed the family name on arriving in Connecticut in the 1640’s , or so, to “Bostwick” for an unknown reason. Several brothers then made their way to Southern California later on.
I love that there's a positive if not necessarily in--depth presentation of Catholic Christianity, the famous hymn Salve Regina, and a positive figure of a Catholic priest to start this off, and then a layman singing in Latin again about the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is our roots and it's beautiful.
Imperialist settler-colonial roots, but roots nonetheless. 🤷♂️
@@d.c.8828 England became a colonizing e.pire after it had stopped being Catholic, so I'm not sure what you're pinpointing.
I always wanted to marry a folk singer. One can but dream. :-)
👍👍👍✌
the story of how bullshit was used in the days of yore is hilarious!
Another beautiful program ruined by background noise! What a pity, need a pixie....
HOLY SHIT is this terrible. So many opportunities to education, lost to bad planing, writing, and ego. I've watched two odysseys and now know better to stop. Where can I get a refund of my time back?
