Btw IMO Clone Wars doesnt get as good as people think until season 3 and there still some bad episodes in that season, its from season 4 and onwards where there are no bad episodes and a greater number of truly great episodes, I found the series is a lot like the prequel trilogy, like half of it is bad or meh, while the other half is good or great.

I feel like there are points in this series where Grievous comes close to his 2003 depiction. A few examples come up in later seasons, but here in season 1, the episode in his lair is pretty good imo. They literally tie him down and cut off his legs, and he still manages to put up a fight and overpower everyone around him, even killing some of them in his escape.

I disagree with your point on Anakin's characterization being vastdifferent. I find it consistent as to how Anakin would normally act as presented in the films. The way Anakin and Obi-Wan talk on Coursant (particularly in the elevator) tells me Anakin's behavior was abnormal and him acting out of defiance and disrespect was mainly due to the circumstances. Think about it: For the past 10 years you've been trying to surpass emptional connections only for your first (and likely only) crush to renter your life and she's grown up nicely. Wouldn't your hormones drive you crazy? And in Revenge of the Sith his main motivation for joining the Dark Side was to save Padme.
Compare how he acts in AotC to the first act of Revenge of the Sith. He shows sincere respect and admiration to Obi-Wan, cares deeply for his friends, makes quips, and enjoys battle perhaps a bit too much. If you don't believe me here are some lines from Revenge of the Sith's first half-hour or so.
Palpatine: Anakin, there is no time. We must get off the ship before it's too late.
Anakin: [Obi-Wan] seems to be all right. No broken bones, breathing's all right.
Palpatine: Leave him, or we'll never make it.
Anakin: His fate will be the same as ours.
ANAKIN: (to Obi-Wan) Are you coming, Master?
OBI-WAN: Oh no. I'm not brave enough for politics. I have to report to the Council. Besides, someone needs to be the poster boy.
ANAKIN: Hold on, this whole operation was your idea. You planned it. You led the rescue operation. You have to be the one to take the bows this time.
OBI-WAN: Sorry, old friend. Let us not forget that you rescued me from the Buzz Droids. And you killed Count Dooku. And you rescued the Chancellor, carrying me unconscious on your back, and you managed to land that bucket of bolts safely . . .
ANAKIN: All because of your training, Master. You deserve all those speeches of your greatness.
OBI-WAN: . . . the endless speeches . . . Anakin, let's be fair. Today, you are the hero and you deserve your glorious day with the politicians.
ANAKIN: All right. But you owe me . . . and not for saving your skin for the tenth time . . .
OBI-WAN: Ninth time . . . that business on Cato Nemoidia doesn't count. I'll see you at the briefing.
Anakin: Master, I've disappointed you. I have not been very appreciative of your training . . . I have been arrogant and I apologize . . . I've just been so frustrated with the Council. Your friendship means everything to me.
Obi-Wan: You are strong and wise, Anakin, and I am very proud of you. I have trained you since you were a small boy. I have taught you everything I know. And you have become a far greater Jedi than I could ever hope to be, and you have saved my life more times than I can remember. But be patient, Anakin. It won't be long before the Council makes you a Jedi Master
GENERAL GRIEVOUS: Anakin Skywalker ... I was expecting someone with your reputation to be a little older.
ANAKIN: General Grievous . . . Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies. You're shorter than I expected.
(Fun fact: In Order to preserve continuity with this line Anakin and Grevious never encounter each other face to face in the entire show)
Basically what we saw in the films was how he acted under severe emotional turmoil with some of the bad acting perhaps intentional. Given he's trying and failing to suppress his emotions. With The Clone Wars and RotS prologue being how he acts in a (relatively) more relaxed environment

@@kylecampbell565 you are on the right path, Jedi gets toddlers and Anakin was too old. Now he has to live a monk lifestyle and not have attachments and realizes the jedi aren't 100% heroes he thought of as a slave.
If he doesn't flirt but then sees his crush that he has been thinking off, of course he won't be smooth.
He becomes a jedi but couldn't save his mother, and see same visions about Padme. Meanwhile the jedi council so blinded by not facing the dark side didn't want to belive in Maul and could never see Palatine right in front of them.

The First three seasons of The Clone Wars suffered from being too "safe", and it doesn't get much better until the latter half of Season 3. This is especially bad in the very first season (which is why I'm commenting here and not a later vid) since I think they were still thinking this would be a wholly a kid's show. Rebels suffered from this too. Fortunately they shake this off eventually, and the product as a whole is better when viewed as a completed product.
As for Anakin being a different character? This will eventually show just how Anakin became Vader. However given the nuances, it feels like Vader himself is different from his movie portrayal (He shows up in Rebels).

I much rather prefer their portrayal in Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Clone Wars 2003, and even the original 2005 Battlefront 2. And this issue isn’t just with the regular B1 models, but also the B2 Super Battledroids. I don’t like the extremely top-heavy, easy-to-topple-over design the Supers have, where they lumber about to walk. Not only does it take away their intimidating approach from Attack of the Clones, but also in that movie, and CW ‘03 and Battlefront ‘05, they’ve been clearly capable of sprinting

I never actually saw the movie and I guess I should be happy about it. Sorry to hear it made you avoid the series.
And yea, the chronological order is a good choice. You seem to be well aware of the fan opinion, so I got nothing more to offer there.
Jumping the gun a bit here:
I would probably just not bother with Rebels or Resistance.
Rebels was pretty bad through out, mostly. Resistance at least got steadily better as it progressed tho.
There were some great episodes in Rebels, the ones without Ezra, the main character. Or ones with a big shot villain like Tarkin, Vader or Thrawn themselves.
P.S. Look up the Darth Jar Jar theory and he becomes marginally more bearable. Even if it's just a fan theory.

@Tom Ffrench it has a lot of good stuff going for it. The main drawback is the main character and how insufferable he is.
Might even compete with Jar Jar for the top spot.

The clone wars is just much worse than star wars clone wars they just should have kept clone wars canon and not have replaced it with the clone wars

Ok, serious question... why do people like this show? I'm part-way through Season 1 and I'm really struggling to keep any motivation to keep watching. It's like watching war propaganda, but it just never ends. None of the characters are even remotely realistic in their motivations, actions, thought patterns..... nothing.

Season 1 is rough to get through, but the show gets better and better as it goes along. Season 3 through Season 5 have some of my favorite episodes in the whole show
