- In this video, I will show you the full process of creating this painting of a full litter of Border Collie puppies in acrylic. First, I draw the puppies on separate cheap paper anmd go over the outlines in marker so that you cans ee them easily once you turn the paper over and can go over the outline on the back in charcoal pencil. This way, once the background is ready for the outlines on the final painting, it is easy to transfer them on by attaching the drawing to the painting and going over each outline on the front so that the charcoal on the back then transfers onto the painting to leave the outlines. I apply a first layer to all the puppies in case the charcoal rubs off a little whilst working on other pups and the outline is lost. I then work back over the puppies building up layers and adding detail. I may go back and forth a bit when using up surplus paint quickly after a session and also tidying puppies up a little before going back to a previous one to add the detail. Once the puppies are complete, i move onto the grass for them to sit on. I add different types of foliage mixed in among the grass to look more interesting and authentic. I then apply the airbrush jst to soften the edges of the grass against the background colour and then the painting is done once it is signed.
Meanwhile, i talk about the process but also other things like setting up my patreon which will be launched soon for those interested. If the patreon starts to do well, i will be able to invest more time into it and this means producing content that is not made from paid commissions and so myself and also patrons get to choose subject matter as well as focusing more on better content for people wanting to learn.
Thanks for watching...and especially until the end!!

Thank you....:)
Amazing ❤
Thank you...x
absolutely adorable! Great job!! Seven is so much work to paint, but you did great!!
Thank you....:)
Brilliant as always ❤️ I can’t believe people have been complaining about FREE content because it didn’t quite fit with what they wanted! How rude and entitled!
Looking forward to the Patreon ☺️ in regards for tutorials from this one - would you consider doing a tutorial for white hair?
Hi yes I shall look into the white hair and thank you....x
Incredible ❤
I apologise if you have answered this question already, ive watched several of your video's but wondered do you use flow improver or retarder to stop your paint drying up to quickly on the pallet 🤔x
I do use a flow improver but not on the pallete. I don't always use it anyway for the whole painting as it can make things rather sticky too. I just put very small amounts of paint on the pallete so they aren't having chance to dry out too fast....
@@TmHudsonArt oh I see thank you for your quick response it's much appreciated 😃
You know people who make nasty comments……can you imagine how unhappy and miserable they are In real life! YUK! Also the number of amazing comments are 100 to 1 of those nasty comments. Hard to do but ignore them!😊
Thanks...I'm pretty thick skinned so i don't really get offended by them but i just don't see the point in it. It's annoying how brave they feel behind a screen is all...
Patreon - if you do start one for Pets in Acrylic .... I would sign up for a year subscription! .... I hate monthly withdrawals - a yearly sub means I don't have to budget each month - instead, a yearly is a "one and done" peace of mind !! ❤😊❤ ...... I signed up for your newsletter, so hopefully will hear when your Patreon is up!! ❤😊❤ ...... LOVE your work !!! ❤😊❤ ......... About myself, and why keenly wish ypur Patreon & yearly - I am 61, retiring end if this year. In 2 years, we sell our ranch (in Colorado, US), get an RV (or called a caravan, in Europe-ese? 😊) - and enjoy our retirement, traveling the US. I am practicing acrylics and watercolors as pet portraits, as a part time income AND to keep my mind active in retirement. This is why I am most eager to learn from you, when your Patreon goes live! ❤❤❤ Sher Olson
Thanks...just figuring it all out. Do you know if you can do yearly or monthly as an option for people so they can choose?
@@TmHudsonArt - Absolutely yearly! 🙂👍👍
@@highprairiepals6527 Ok I haven't looked at that yet so will have to figure it out...
@@highprairiepals6527 Looking up, it isn't something i'd be allowed to do immediately and would also depend on earnings I make in the beginning. You have to hit certain requirements to be eligible..
