  • In this video, I show you how I paint realistic cat eyes in acrylic. The tutorial includes two different cats that featured in the same painting. I take you through the steps I go through from mapping in the basic shapes and colours to applying the details and the final catchlights. Full timelapse of this painting will be uploaded in due time...
Thank you for watching and for any support you can give so that I can improve this channel and my content.

Lovely to see your channel growing! Well done! I think the second cat was hypnotizing me...! Love the split screen using actual reference photo. I sometimes have difficulty seeing the 'underlayers' and tend to paint what I see on top. But I'm here to learn!

This is super helpful! I don't paint or draw many cats. But this will help me improve no matter what medium I end up doing as the tips translate across mediums. Fab video!

Hello there, greetings from Northern Ireland. I mostly use charcoal myself, was never very good at painting, even in art college. Very nice work.

Hi can I ask a question please? I know you use fabriano paper do you prep it in any way (gesso) before adding paint ??? also do you air brush your back ground and if so can you recommend any paint brand .. oh also do you varnish your work. Thank you for your videos your work is amazing you feel that you can stroke the animals as they look so real. thank you

I do not prep the fabriano. I used gesso for a time and just found it a mess about, very hard to get totally smooth and didn't really help anything as the paper handles the acrylic fine without it...so I stopped.
I just use my usual paints in my airbrush and water it down. Takes a bit of practice..I don't buy specific airbrush stuff. I also do not varnish lol. My work goes behind glass when framed so it doesn't need it. These are all personal preference things though so other people may do things differently.
