Mr. Joy, You are the Voice of NASCAR Cup as Walter Cronkite is to NASA. I got my Dad interested in the Moonshot as a 3 yearold in 1965 and he got me interested in NASCAR (with "The King") a couple of years later once it was shown on our B&W TV. He was an Oakland, CA Police Officer. The cars we owned: 1956 (210) 1963 (V8 can't remember what CI) 1967 Impala (327), 1977 Impala (305). I worked at the Ice Rink and drove the Zamboni until I joined the Navy, but I did save for a 1971 Nova(RS) with a bullet proof 307!
Last month my wife passed away so I went to clean out our storage building. In the very back I found a box full of my Nascar Yearbooks and preview books from the 90’s. They may not be worth a fortune, but they are part of my past and will go to my son when my time comes.
You're a living legend Mike, keep up the great work! Would love to see a "behind the scenes" of the FOX booth!
The Ford small block Dominated before restrictor plates
I Still Had NASCAR 86 Yearbook And Press Guide From The 80s
Thanks Mike ! Awesome collection! Last Petty would give you Jeff Gordon first .
Even though I have some programs from Southern California races like Fontana and even the Los Angeles Street Race, I don’t really think they are worth that much, but I do treasure them! Gives me something to read…
I wanted to be Mike Joy! I bought every Nascar Preview and Press guide they made. They used to make a Nascar history book of every race and stats since 1948. I studied these everyday. Texas Motor speedway used to have Nascar Fantasy Racing contest for $25,000 and I won it in 2011!!😎 All because I wanted to be like Mike Joy. My nickname was "The Nascarstatman" also thank you to Buz McKim for answering all my 100's of questions. Godspeed to Eddie Gossage. He gave me my first Cup race, my Dad's first Cup race, took us and Matt Kenseth to Dallas Mavericks game, after I picked him to win Daytona 500, met my wife because of TMS and saw Terry Labonte win in person. All because of Eddie Gossage and his love of Nascar. We will miss you Eddie ❤
I find these at estate sales between Statesville and Winston-Salem sometimes. I have several from the 1970s and even found a postcard picture of Dave Marcis that was autographed in ballpoint pen. Almost every one had the race day starting lineup included.
Got to wonder how much the programs are for say the last races of driver's careers that ended tragically. Like imagining going to the TranSouth 500 in 1993, unaware that it would be Alan Kulwicki's last race.
Sam Bass paintings added so much to NASCAR. I still have a few programs in storage. Who knows what the worth is these days. Thanks Mike!
This video is gold, thank you so much
Lime Rock.. Still going strong here in Connecticut
I have that hardcover, or one just like it. All the NASCAR memorabilia I have is in a box in the closet, and haven’t seen the light of day in 20 years.
I have every program from Daytona 1976 to 1993 both races. Not really worth much but great for my memories!
I would love to have some of these.
How about the program for the inaugural Daytona night race?
What about the Spiral bound press /Stat books, I have many ,with a lot of auto graphs.
