    7:40 Yes, it's in the book. If I recall correctly, it was Beverly's idea to "bond" with them one at a time, for reasons. The idea was to bring them closer together because their bond makes them strong(?). One of the boys is uncomfortable with the idea and Beverly convinces/encourages them to "bond" with her in order to be powerful(?) enough to find their way out of the sewers.

    To be fair, Pennywise seasoning with fear is obvious just by watching the movie and PW does mention it with the line "Tasty, tasty, beautiful fear." while drooling like a dog. Did anyone really need that explained to them?

    • @matrixdukenukem000
      @matrixdukenukem000 Před 7 měsíci +4

      Yes, because he doesn't do that with the first kid in iconic yellow raincoat. When you introduce your character like that and then show him toying around, that requires explanation. It just sounds like horror movie trope where main characters don't get hurt until 3rd act.

    • @synical13
      @synical13 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@matrixdukenukem000 I figured it out just fine. He killed Georgie to bait his brother and as a snack keeping him going while he terrorized the main characters for a substantial meal before hibernation. Who in the movie could have explained what they didn't even know yet? Once they figured it out, so did the audience (assuming they hadn't already). Maybe people have gotten so used to explanations that they don't recognize show-don't-tell anymore. If you can get everything out of a movie just by listening to it then it might as well be an audiobook.

    in the remake the clown is meant to be scary all the time, which makes no sense. in the original movie it was a normal-looking clown......at least until it lured the kids in....and then he seasoned them with fear before eating them.

  • @raziberry1595

    • @cervanntes
      @cervanntes Před 7 měsíci +2

      This is precisely why I liked the Tim Curry version of Pennywise better. No argument that Skarsgard's version of Pennywise the Clown is far more terrifying, but it kind of misses the entire point of the clown form. Curry had this uncanny knack for being completely charming with utterly malicious undertones.

    To be fair, I understood what King was going for with "that" scene, but the ick factor was as high as he was when he wrote it. He definitely needed someone to tell him "no" sometimes. (Just like Taika Waititi on Thor Love and Thunder.)

    • @silentassason

      I mean it's still people who judge him that way...like if you read the book he has really written it well enough that you know it isn't pervert but just symbolic in accordance with story. But unfortunately it's us who have biased mindset to judge everything. And also it's really sad that Ryan did half baked research on it and just took out the line from his interview that he wanted and used it. Even though King explains more in it

    • @JakkFrost1
      @JakkFrost1 Před měsícem +3

      @@anonymous891 yeah, I've read the book, and like I said, I understood what he was _going_ for, but he was a little too descriptive about some of the details, like the fact that Ben had already hit puberty "down there", if you know what I mean, which hurt Beverly a little more at first.

      @anonymous891 Před měsícem +2

      @@JakkFrost1 certainly yes...i agree with you and i don't have issue with a constructive critisicm like you did now or a joke that he was high on drugs but it is the fact that many people are calling him pervert or that something was wrong with him. I feel like sometimes people just fix some things as gross and then stand by tha bias. @Lusciouslysorry Před 7 měsíci

      Why? The pitch meeting is exactly the same. Are you saying a first timer shouldn't watch the introduction and/or the explanation at the end? At worst they wont understand certain references-which has no affect on their viewing either way, as they'd have to watch several videos to learn the patterns and running gags anyway-and at best it will help pique their interest a little more.

    • @VykeKing
      @VykeKing Před 7 měsíci +1

      @Lusciouslysorry Yes its the same but it requires explaining, where a normal pitch meeting is self explanatory. Even Achara had to pause twice to explain something. Revisted versions are for people who already understand the concept and watched the original version but just want abit of bonus content on that specific episode.

    • @Lusciouslysorry
      @Lusciouslysorry Před 7 měsíci

      @@VykeKing but George explains in the introduction that this is the revisiting an older video, that he will play the older video, and then afterwords there will be an additional part. And her pausing the video to explain would have happened regardless because she chose to explain things. She could've paused the video to explain things to him even if it was the original video. For example, she paused to explain the "super easy..." part. If they had watvhed the original, she would've still paused there because it had nothing to do with any of the added content. It wasn't like they watched a redo or an edited version of the original.

      @@brandonshealy not to be a poser but I haven’t finished it yet either, I know it’s lame but I had to read the ending first, I grew up w/ a similar scar having watched the miniseries in tv growing up, Tim Curry & the series overall was freaky but the ending was whack, I didn’t really care for the remake part 2 final battle either so w/ all the years of “the book is better” I had to dive in. It’s a huge book like I said. I first read the ending when they confront it as adults, then went back & started at the beginning. It’s so detailed & vivid it activates your imagination better than maybe film could achieve. It’s etched in my mind when they descend down a dark wet tunnel that seams to be alive itself, they’re in the dead lights space or something, & they can see hell or some image through gaps & cracks in the tunnel. It has them in a trance I remember. & the way they actual kill it is gruesome, tearing it open, pushing through guts & ripping it’s giant black heart out & stabbing/squishing it. In the book it’s final form is a giant hideous spider like thing, King goes on to explain that it’s not actually a spider but our eyes can’t perceive it’s true form & that’s the closest our little minds could get to seeing. It has a nemesis too, the cosmic Turtle. It represents good, creation, life…it has the earth in its back. Pennywise represents the opposite, however there is mention of other evil beings out there, where It originated from. Hinted at anyway I think. I have to go back again, it’s a LONG book (like this response) & I have CRS.
