    Hey John,
Thank you so much for your videos! I am actually doing the same puzzle right now, also with all bags mixed. I am working on it mostly on my own and on an on-and-off basis since around 3 years. Since last week I only have greenery and blue sky left. I don't have much space, so everything is stored on 14 big cardboards with around halve a section on them each, which fit perfectly under the couch.
It is so fun seeing you go through the same process. I find interesting which categories you use for sorting, mine were quite similar. I also recognise the constant "cardboard logistics", haha.
I really like this puzzle and the picture is so fun to put together. My guess is that you will be done by 1st of June. I just found your videos and I look forward to see you progress even further. Happy puzzeling!

@cyberfox5159 Hi and thanks so much for watching. That's great!!! I was going to do mine that way also, that way I would be downstairs in the heat and air conditioning, but thought it would be easier to do where I could get to all of it, especially with multiple people working on it. And yes, it seems like we are always moving cardboards around. I thought we would have less as we went but it doesn't seem to work that way. This is a fun image to put together. I think you saved the hardest parts for last, the greens and sky. I'll put your guess in the book, and keep me updated on your progress. john

@pamelaholdsworth5866 Yes Wyoming is so beautiful. In Wyoming we rode Beartooth Pass, did the full loop in Yellowstone, saw old faithful, among other things, stayed overnight in Cody, then rode through Wind River Canyon. On a previous trip we saw Devils Tower and rode all through the Black Hills. So many things to see and such amazing scenery.

Have fun on your trip, be safe. Great progress on the puzzle. I bet a lot of people including myself would love to hear your plans for the finished puzzle? I woild love to do a bigger puzzle and hang it at the school I work at, and at my other job where I take care of people that had traumatic brain injury. The one place I worked at we all did puzzles and framed them to display around the place. I love helping people. I love your commentary you do and your videos. I look forward to them when they get posted. May we all find what we are looking for, one piece at a time.

@whypostit Hi and thanks for watching, When I'm done with the puzzle I plan to separate it in small enough sections to get it back in the box on stiff paper and not tape the back of the puzzle so that it can be taken apart and put together again or I can put the sections together again if I want to display it somewhere. Hanging puzzles where you work sounds like a fun idea. Thanks for helping people, the world needs more of that.

@maartenstorms3262 Hi, That's great!!! please keep me updated on your progress and if you can make youtube videos, let me know your channel name. I'd love to hear your thought process on how you plan to do it. For me, good sorting really helped, and I started with the border and buildings. That made the most sense to me but that might not be the best way. Remember that some days you'll get a lot done and some days not so much, so don't get discouraged. Greetings from Pennsylvania.

Sorry for the late reply but i’ve been really concentrated working on the puzzle. I first went through the pile just sorting by shape because I didn’t want to sort by colors or textures. When that was done, I made the border first. Which went pretty fast. Except for the top border with all the sky. But using the repeating pattern (every 37 pieces) it was doable. So that’s 1194 pieces done! I’ve also put together the 84 ‘double’ pieces that hold together the 84 ‘half’ pieces. So I now have 42 clusters of 4 pieces. One for each repeating pattern (42 times 1000 pieces). What I’m doing now is putting all the remaining pieces on boards. Per shape, neatly arranged. I have about 4 more days to go, and then I’ll have about 50 boards (60x60cm) filled with pieces. It takes me about 30-40 minutes per board. And then I can begin. I’m not going to do any more sorting, I’ll just pick what I need from the boards and start. We’ll see how it goes… I can always change tactics if needed. I do not have a youtube channel but I will be posting my progress on Flickr. There’s a group called ‘the big jigsaw puzzle collection’. Check it out some time.

There was another piece that I thought could be wrong too but I couldn't find one in another section to switch it with, so I left it there. I can't believe that you could see that on the video. You and @tony--james must both have a trained puzzlers eye for subtle color differences, something I don't have yet.

While I don't know how y'all are puzzling, let me give these suggestions:
1 - If you know those sky pieces are wrong, TAKE THEM OUT so you won't accidentally forget they're there & spend more time trying to figure out where they are later on.
2 - Try having everybody focus on 1 thing to get it done. Since the sky is, mostly, blue...whoever is tackling that is doing a lot of work. Maybe divide it up like "Bob, you & Mary take the orange bits. Tom & Suzie - the purple. Everybody else do the blue." Since it's, basically, edge to edge, that is a big project. Also, it'll free up cardboards for other things. & it'll help you with the skyline for buildings/statues etc..
3 - Do the puzzle in sections (maybe 2-3 feet big). Don't move on until that's done. The more eyes in 1 area increase the time of solving it & quickly seeing mistakes others might make.
4 - You might want to check the cardboards on the table. I saw a water piece in with the solid blues. Also, some of that orange sky might go at that orange spot on the end by the window.
5 - Not to repeat what I said at the start, but sorting by color has probably made people check the same pieces multiple times & putting it back down because it wasn't the 1 they were needing. Maybe change it up & say "This week, we're only focusing on the color ____." Start off easy with colors you know aren't to take long: pink, purple, orange, neon colors, etc. Then work up to more common colors: white, blue, green, brown, etc.. or tackle patterns: clouds, flowers, grass, mountains.
So, to sum it up, I'm thinking you have multiple people each focusing on 1 small segment. Change it up & have everybody focusing on 1 area. Some could be pulling & sorting pieces while others put them together. Then flip jobs so the sorters now are the solvers. This gives fresh eyes on the task & people aren't bogged down. If you do only 1 color at a time, you may have a bunch of small sections, but they'll quickly combine to make the bigger picture.
    Good luck!

    • @puzzlemethis.
      @puzzlemethis.  Před 10 měsíci

@waynebennett745 we have tried some of that. We found that to many people working together on one thing was harder because we would look for a piece and it wouldn't be where we put it down. We do work on each others areas to see if fresh eyes help. We do however spend a lot of time looking through cardboards, but that should get better as we get fewer pieces.
