- After driving the 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser, MotoMan drives the 2019 Lexus LX 570, and Toyota Land Cruiser by a different name. Yes, he does find some quantifiable differences between the Lexus LX570 and the Toyota Land Cruiser, but some of them are an improvement and some are not so much - even in a fancy Lexus. In a round of our famous #OptionsGame he learns something very odd about the Lexus LX570 . . .

The beeping was because it was telling you to shift transmission into neutral to engage 4lo.
It’d better be. Because IS the most anoying noise
Oh
Yes, same as my 2013. If it was beeping, it never actually made it to 4LO.
I envy whoever owns a LX 570
Lexus is never boring. Luxury and Reliable at its best.
I bought my 2013 Lexus lx 570 cause I wanted a practical and high price when I resell my car after 5 to 10 years. While at that time, I had another 3 to 4 options for other European cars. Also, another reason is that I travel every month 2 to 3 times back to my city where I was grown up which is 400 km away from my work. Another thing is that when I bought it, I was not convinced of it's looking and luxurious.
I wont say that lexus makes boring cars, they have the rcf, gsf, isf, lc
And LFA
Wow you skipped the LFA
Boring is personal opinion. Those buy lexus dont think their lexus is boring.
@@argentumboyle249 So true. Thoroughly enjoy my 2014 LS460L AWD that I bought used last year. Wish I was rich enough to buy one of these but not in the cards for now.
I commend Lexus for sticking to their core types of vehicle and not copying what people think is popular. My number one requirement for a car is reliability - no point in having a car, if it cant get you from A-B reliably, every time. Lexus proved that they can make exciting cars - LFA. They just choose not to. I just wish we got the LX in the UK.
Only dumb and ignorant auto journalists would say Lexus is boring luxury. Lexus IS more fun to drive than anything it compete against. The LFA, LC500, RC F Track Edition, the GS-F, IS-F, ES, LX570, GX, RX, NX, UX etc They are all very special and exiting to own and drive for decades to come. Lexus vehicles age like fine wine.
Other brands relationships end when leases expired.
For the Majority, Exactly
Nice vehicle. I've always wanted one. These last forever without issue and I like the in ya face styling.
Used ones are reasonable and will run forever still. I just picked up a 2013 for 34k with under 100k miles.
@@shaunr5450 I honestly want 2 of them. A used 2008 with less 150k miles and a 2018 with less than 10k miles. I will use the older as a beater and see how long I could go before breaking the 5.7L. Then use the newer one for stepping out in style.
@@entreptilesThe good thing is these hold up so well, you can do both with one LX. My 2013 is at 157,700 miles and still looks right at home at the valet at a fancy restaurant.
Great video!
Hello. Thanks for the video. What is that in 7.31 ?
Time to get your hands on the LX600! Def. Waiting for that one.
Dude shift it to 4lo. Car beeping at ya 😂
You know if this was a German vehicle, those options would cost 5-10 times more!!!!
Oh and break down too within 30k miles.
It is beeping at you because you need to be in neutral when shifting into or out of 4-lo.
I would think anyone buying the Lexus version instead of the Toyota Land Cruiser probably *wants* to be lulled into Grandpa Mode.
I think you’re spot on with with your talk at the end about $250k+ vehicles purchases. They’re textbook examples of conspicuous consumption. Will people know I’m showing off if what I buy has lots of utility? Better to go with something swoopy, with doors that make it impossible to park near other cars, and that require you to nearly sit on the ground to get into it: that will leave no doubt.
The only reason I would get the LX570 over the Land Cruiser is because they don't sell the Land Cruiser in Canada.
I think the case for a 250k+ suv makes sense when you consider it a replacement for the traditional ultra luxury sedan. Designers will be forced to get creative to make it look stylish but on the inside is the bigger selling point. SUVs generally are more spacious inside than a sedan and have a certain feeling or presence of, in a way, audaciousness. I saw the Lagonda concept for their new EV SUV, and I’d rather have that than the sedan because of the more spacious and authoritative feel. The extra cargo space is just a boon. I like to consider it like those old ornate chariots or wagons that are pulled with horses. Having to step down from those is a good feeling and I think SUVs slightly replicate that feeling
agree with your assessment on 250 k SUV s
You look like you should be in some comedy movie lol. Great review
Going into its 12th model year and 3rd facelift (2016), the LC200 and LX570 are making their way through the CZcams circuit like they were just released. Also, no info on a replacement yet, no spy shots, What gives?
Nice review. I think the LX 570 is an excellent SUV but 100k is expensive but that’s what all the big luxury SUV’s (GLS, G Wagon, Escalade, Navigator, Cheyanne costs these days.
I agree with you. I think 250k+ luxury SUVs will all wear out in sales
issue: no aftermarket mods for this Lexus unlike the Landcruiser
I have 2 of these, these are one of the best subs ever made, one has almost 100k , zero isues
They're still boring. Good cars though
Lexus to me is the BEST auto maker.
Your Aunt's Cadillac from the Boogie Down Bronx! LOL I grew up in The Bronx too! :D
Almost identical to this one. Her's had a saddle interior. We used to cruise down the Henry Hudson Parkway - an incredibly happy place with a great woman . . . Gonna get me one.
Nice memories. I on the other hand always wanted an 1984-85 Oldsmobile 98 Regency. Even though I was only about 14yrs old back then. My Dad had an 1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88, Blue / Lt. Blue int., which we'd take upstate to go apple picking, or I-95 N to Boston. The main reason that I like driving to this day!
Presenting to. You the first view
My gs350 is Def not quiet and the 2021 nx I drove for a few days was Def not quiet
I think it's time to stop call Lexus boring ... Rcf lc500 new design ... Etc... They may be too top Dogg but not boring anymore lol
Lexus gets the reputation of being boring because most of the Lexus cars that most people can actually buy(and thus are the best sellers) are the most boring their segments: IS(non-F), ES, RX, NX, and UX. 99% of people walking into a Lexus dealership are not driving off the lot in an RCF, GSF, or LC500.
I know that’s what I said this guy isn’t even good about reviewing cars and Lexus IS cool
@@panzer_TZ but tbh even tho models have a flare to them that the older lexuses didn't have ... Including the es rx ... And driving dynamics are way beyond they were b4 all models ....
Jermaine Crump I just made a comment on that its old news and not the case anymore
At least in Europe BMW sells mostly 2-litre diesels without M package. Very few buy the fancy M cars or giant engines. Because most are bought as company cars. Same with Audi and S/RS-cars and Mercedes and AMG. I think Lexus has a much larger percentage of private buyers than the Big Three. Who's the booring one then? :P At least Lexus is a active choice, not something one buys as a habit :P
very well done
Best suv ever made
In the case of Lexus LX570, I think it competes with Mercedes G class. both prices are almost the same, also have equal lux & off road capabilities.
The Benz will always look nicer, drive nicer.
I think I see Micah hovering here.😊
Yea, if i had the money for the Rolls i would buy the Lexus truck.
You can buy four more too
Amen. this dude said no driving dynamics but also said it's like a rolls Royce. Lol I'll take this all day too.
motoman, one of the best car reviewers on CZcams
I would really love to see a self described Lotus guy drive the new Evora GT
Turn on the MTV and check how some define status and style ;)
Dream Car
I think you need to try stopping again, but this time try to trigger the ABS. You can do that by braking over uneven surface and tell me if you think the LX570 has good brakes afterwards. Hopefully you can get one to test quickly and i will await your answer.
Needs a update
Yes like we could drive in our houses
Hate reviews that start off with Lexus being boring that was over a decade ago things has changed 🙄
He's a typical whole dude who would not accept that being white is so out of trend.
Well, it really doesn't do like a German car.
Motoman, how _are_ you son?
ALEX W. HAS WON THE SP MEGA JACKPOT AND THE SUPERGRAND IT IS SO 77...
The thing is about the unrelated VW group cars is that they can actually do something. They have performance, handling and respectable MPG figures ... if you believe the press ..... the Land Cruiser variant doesn't have any of those abilities. You would think they would do something to address that, but Toyota/Lexus have just sat on their hands. Just like going to BMW to build a car and slapping a Supra badge on it, this is pure laziness on the part of Toyota/Lexus!
I see Micah Muzio flying that helicopter like a boss! #micahflies
Was that Micah Muzio in the helicopter footage?
Good eye! Micah Muzio indeed!
@@MotoManTV You have excellent taste in automotive friends good Sir!
@@muttmitchell4675 I roped him into filming this . . . instagram.com/p/Bz6M72hl0q1/
@@MotoManTV Holy Ned!! That is quite a scene. It's nice to see your fleet being put to great usage. Is that Manhattan Beach down below?
@@muttmitchell4675 In that video we are circling over both Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. The Church itself is in Redondo so we did three low passes over the church while Micah literally hovered in the center of us.
I'd choose the Land Cruiser, because it will do what it's built for and will last. It'll wear a few ding and dent with pride. No one these days drives a G-wagon, this lexus, a cayenne, or similar show wagon to take off road. They're to demonstrate success.
ktpinnacle that’s not true check out ih8mud, people are modifying and taking off road.
Yes - like I said. Among these vehicles Land Cruisers are more often used for offroad.
ktpinnacle perhaps I miss read your comment, thought you said no one drives the Lexus off-road. While the LC is the most used and supported, people are taking the Lexus off-road and more support for mods seems to be coming online which will further help.
No - I'm surprised! The older models have to shorter overhangs that they shared with the Toyotas, but the current version with the jutting spindle grill - I can't see it. Plus, people buy those new and shiny instead of the Toyota for a reason I suppose. To keep them new and shiny.
I hope that Toyota doesn't kill off the LC. Just improve it in light of current fuel costs and use it as a flagship for their truck/SUV lines.
Review that c-type in the background, please.
Hey motoman what happened to the Tech Reviews??
Great question, Bernard! Short answer: CZcams doesn’t work. Long answer: Like most channels, 3 years ago we were hit with the ‘Notifications’ change. Overnight, it effectively threw out the subscriber base of older channels like ours and along with it came an instantaneous almost 50% drop in views (July 31, 2016). This is why you see so manny creators begging for viewers to ‘click subscribe & notifications’. What they are not telling you is that the average of subscribers that opt in for notifications on any given channel, whether it be me or Casey Neistat is 7-12%. That means take anyone’s stated subscriber count and the real number of folks that are watching & interacting with that channel is 7-12%. In our case, that number is 5%. So 5% of 198,000 subs, or 9,900 are being notified of new episodes & only a percentage of those actually watch. I see many of our viewer comments of 'I don't understand why this channel has so few subs and/or views'. Well, this is one of the big reasons. As you can imagine, we never fully recovered from what the CZcams community collectively refers to as the ‘bell’ because this change handicaps older channels more as the bulk of their subs came before notifications. It is nearly impossible to move that older base to switch on 'notifications'. How do I know? You may remember from back then when I asked the viewer base in many episodes ‘Unsubscribe, resubscribe & click notifications’. Even made a joke about it. Well, made zero difference. So as the source of 50% of our traffic evaporated overnight we tried *many* times to get help from various groups at CZcams but those efforts fell on deaf ears. This is when we went about looking inward and innovating our production, post, the show and other internal processes for growth. Expanded distribution to Amazon & others, improved the FIRST DRIVE REVIEWS & more. Even with that, CZcams continues to bury our show. We know it is a quality show that people want to watch. How? Our audience retention is off the charts. Meaning the percentage of people that watch all the way through is higher than most shows no matter the genre (50-70% depending on car)- VERY hard to do on a platform where 25% of audience retention is considered good. Yet, even though CZcams claims this is an important metric that drives views, we still languish. We grew from 10k - 160K subs in 14 months and after the bell, from 160K to 198K in THREE YEARS. As you can imagine, got tired of CZcams’s predatory tactics against the work I am so passionate about yet refuse to change to the low quality, monotone, many times list driven, disingenuous format that is popular on the platform. Furthermore, we just got hit with another huge algorithm shift - have a look at the views of our recent Cadillac (czcams.com/video/RKxlRn2tb04/video.html) & Porsche (czcams.com/video/X-pFF2qmkzw/video.html) episodes. While those are bad, these two episodes, our 10th Anniversary episode (czcams.com/video/VNq820peQ8U/video.html) and our Morgan episode (czcams.com/video/jINI2Y8ytJc/video.html) are projects we put unusual amounts of work in due to how special they are yet even with higher than our noramlly high audience retention they are both at appallingly low view counts. But what does all this have to do with no TECH REVIEWS? We had to make some hard changes. Some you have already seen. First, increased production quality and dropped down to once a week. Second, as much as I personally loved shooting the TECH REVIEWS, we had to integrate them into our weekly episodes with some graphics as the platform punishes us if we put the same brand of car within a couple of weeks of each other. Third, we changed up the variety of cars. Coming in September, you will see another big change, one I am very excited about. There are others beyond that but long and short of the story, on all of our other platforms the story is far different - we are growing. CZcams is the only one at which we are struggling. Yes, it would be great if more folks - old and new subs - would opt in for notifications and watch every episode. It would be great if folks hit the like button and shared the episodes on Reddit, Twitter, IG or other platforms. It would also be great if the algorithm worked as CZcams claims and presented our episodes to more potential viewers based on our crazy high watch times. That would help us experiment with more new and unique cars, people, features and technologies but the minute we step away from a Crossover or SUV that has high search volume, we are buried. Badly. None of this we can control. As such, we are choosing to work on the items we can control. For 10 years now, I have proven we can create car lifestyle entertainment that people want to watch. Now the task is working to put it in the right place as CZcams may no longer be one of those platforms.
@@MotoManTV Wow, just wow i did not realize youtube had so much power they can decide the content of the users, seems i am more naive than i Thought. Seems we will end up with slimy Shmee like carclips in the end, Oh No!! What draw me to your channel is the insider knowledge, the tech reviews ( love it!!), the interviews with automotive people that shape the industry, your detailed and straight forward opinions. And now you are telling me CZcams is forcing you to stop doing it in the way you prefer..... Sad day Motoman.
I realize it needs to make sense economically but how about a separate channel with all "nerdy"content and a channel with SUVś only? Your die hard fans will find you. Apart from CZcams what other platforms do you use to air your content? where can we find you??
Would you take this - or the Landcruiser - over a G-Wagen?
Tough call between the Lexus and the Toyota but would one of those . . . Could not live with the uncertainty of the lack of reliability in the G.
@@MotoManTV The G still has the cool factor going for it and the G 63 cannot be compared here, but I have to agree.
Totally agree, but you do know you are talking to a guy that leads a Dave Ramsey class at a church . . . so you can imagine what stands out to me:)
@@MotoManTV Haha, funny you would mention Dave Ramsey. You once told us about the "friction" method when buying cars and why you should never lease. You can only afford the car you can buy cash without hurting. I have made this my motto ever since. On the other hand, my collection is growing.... :-D

“ Lexus makes Quiet boring reliable cars “
Why is this statement still a thing ? How many fast car does Lexus need to make for some one to stop with this ignorant statement ? Lexus has a full high performance lineup of cars. The new LS500 is a fast twin turbo V6. The LC500 has a V8 exhaust note that’s incredible. Stop being a ignorant
Yes u are right
For me I think the Cayenne has more style out of all the SUVs, just personal taste
So far ,this, the ford Expedition ecoboost (which I will bolt on mod the shit out of to 500++ hp, down pipe, ect) and Denali 6.2
Is it me or I am really seeing arabic labels in the car 😱😄
Ontop the cooler box yes
They like that
I think the driving factor for that other market depends on the people the buyer is surrounded by. So if all of my friends think the RR SUV is dope, I will get a dopamine rush to buy it so we can all cruise Sunset Blvd and exert that Johnny Depp reprobate behavior all night long. Once I'm over it, I'll 2nd-hand sell it to the wanna-be rapper on Larrabee St. and get the Lexus LX570 so I have a reliable suv to get to my house on Piuma Rd. LOL
I would absolutely get a Rolls royce Cullinan if I had the money. But, I would settle for the X7. That's just me, though. Champagne taste on an Aquafina budget
LFA, Rcf, isf, gsf, lc500 v8, yeah... Very boring
BX!!!
Confession time, M, I like both the Rolls-Royce and the Lamborghini, and I still think that the Bentley is ugly.
I think these vehicles are useful for the rich folks with garage constraints, think New York, Hong Kong & so on ... These vehicles are all-rounders for that demographic. Ultra Luxury, utility and style, the Lamborghini goes the extra mile by throwing High Performance into the mix.
Anyway, you know me, M & you know how I feel about Lexus, but I have to tip my hat off to them for 2015(?) comprehensive facelift, some manufacturers ought to pay attention *cough*Cadillac*cough*.
I'm not particularly fond of the styling, but I have to say the Signature Edition with the sporty kit, different wheels and grille is more tolerable. I'm sure you've seen them in Dubai last year, they're very popular in our region.
The one with the 2-row seats is supposed to be the entry level or the value proposition if you may. That's why its option-less.
I rather fork out the extra 40k or so and get me a G63 .... Orrrr if 3-rows are necessary, the new X7 M50i with the 530hp V8.
As always, excellent work, M.
Good point about the design update but why am I not surprised by your choice:)
I've watched the video multiple time back and forth, and I didn't see any pornography, why did you lie??
Landcruiser is more beautiful than Lexus
Such a big car and backrest is still too short for years. What is wrong with ppl in Toyota?
Get a lx570 and rebadge it with toyota badges.
LINCOLN NAVIGATOR BLACK LABEL BLOWS THIS AWAY....SAME PRICE. NO THANKS LEXUS....

100K for an SUV and my mind automatically goes to the Mercedes G63 or the BMW X7.
