These bedside tables took far too long to complete. I was struggling with the 40°C + summer temperatures in my workshop, then we went away for nearly a week on holiday, then it was Christmas and with the kids being on school holidays I've been busy and struggled to get them finished.
It's good to get them out of the way so I can get back to normal and start producing regular videos!
I mentioned the pine chipping in the video, it was reclaimed from old furniture and was extremely dry and brittle, not the easiest to work with.
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

I complimented you on your last video, and as I was watching this one I saw that the grain on the spline was oriented the wrong way, and I immediately thought, "Awe man, I'm going to have to chew him out a bit for that on this one." But then you caught it yourself, and came through like a champ.
I really love how you know what you're doing. Lots of people don't understand how wood expands and contracts, and they don't design to accommodate it. Many also don't know how to orient wood grain for maximum strength. And it's common to see people use their tools wrong, or just say all sorts of incorrect things. I can relax while watching your vids. Although you had me excited there for a minute on this one, you pulled back on the stick before piling in.
But most of all, I love that you are creative. That joint, for instance, is pure genius. It's strong, attractive, reasonably easy to make, and its self aligning. But mostly, it's different, and that's exciting.
These stands are well built, and attractive. I'm sure that your wife will be very pleased with them.
May I ask you, what was, or is, your main job?

I don't know about you, but I absolutely love the color the pine got after finishing. I find pine's natural color a bit boring, unless it has a highly visible pattern showing on the surface. My first thought, when I saw the color, was propolis - what bees produce and use to seal cracks and corners in beehives. Comb frames and the inside of beehives get a similar color naturally after some years of use. (I kept bees when I was younger.)

They are absolutely beautiful, the stain enhanced the contrast too. During the glue up, I thought you'd taken the term 'legs' rather seriously, they way you pinned them down to prevent them running away, but in fact it was a demonstration of how you'd planned the clamping angles to achieve all the neccessary pressure points. Great work, I hope the R & R was befitting of the work that earned it! If Mrs Pask Makes doesn't like them, please let me know the shipping costs to the UK... [For the tables not Mrs Pask!]

First video of yours if watched. Love all the self made jigs and tools. The floating tenon machine is by far the best self made one I have seen. Great skills.

You make it look effortless to make things with such precision. I'm jealous of the wood that you have at your disposal. Amazing tables
