From Jack Evans the sound lliterally crackled in you're ears and I had to cover my ears, still the loudest thing I have ever heard in my life.
I think this was from when Amberley Air Force took delivery of new super hornets. I lived close to the base at the time. Sixteen of them flew in formation over my house. It was so loud lol.

The fly by happened (back in the early days when they could get away with this) The pilot was RIGHT there waving at us, we then ran/tripped to the other balcony to see him complete his turn around the building and in between other high rises. EPIC sound and sight, we cacked ourselves. Great time, great drinking, great people.

PipSaSqeak it’s because of the annual “river fire” event which goes on at Brisbane ( very close to the Gold Coast ). You get to see a c-17 globemaster, fa-18 superhornets and later that evening a large firework display.
a couple years after this, the whole of 6 sqn flew their 12 super hornets up the coast as a last flight before they were moved to 1 sqn. after that 6 sqn took delivery of the growlers. bloody good fly by
The FA18’s have practice bombing runs at the range at Evens Head , once they have completed there task try return to Amberley by either medium level further off the coast or they can return via the coast line at 500” if the Gold Coast airport is not busy. Via the coast low level is a good “White pointer” route, nice views sometimes lol.
My guess is heading from RAAF Williamtown to RAAF Amberley. Possibly due to reallocation of fighter craft cause the new F-35s we're delivered to RAAF Williamtown

Australia does not have any carriers, all our fighters are land based. These were likely from Amberley.
