Thats because (believe it or not) Vince was the one who was making the product so stale and boring. Because of his narcissistic personality disorder. Now that he is gone, it is going to be a much more interesting and better product.
The problem with overly scripting was mostly Vince. He hated anyone going off script including the announcers. Now that he’s finally gone for good, there’s more freedom.

That I disagree with to an extent. Has the PG Era run its course? Yeah it has, and it's well past time for a new era. However, it still served its purpose and some great stories did come from it. I don't think moments like the Yes Movement would have worked nearly as well in a non-PG setting. And also I do firmly believe that the Women's Revolution simply would never have really become a thing had things not gone tamer over the years. Because while the Men's Division during that time was absolutely the best period ever for the company... The Women's Division was legitimately the lowest point of WWE/WWF ever. But as I said before, we had those moments, and now a new understanding of what can make more mature storytelling work. And we also don't need to worry about Vince's ideas of a new Attitude Era. He would have brought that to the ground. If anyone can bring about a good modern Attitude Era, it's Triple H, and I'll be all for it.
The PG Era was atrocious at times. I logged off of wrestling in the early to mid 2000s. It's getting interesting again, but hopefully they push it all the way to TV-14.
Amen. Wrestling is fun to watch in the wwe, tag teams are being used, women are being used more, rivalries are more meaningful now. Before a PLE whatever matches are on it they will promote it or have segments for it to remind you that this match is happening no more throw away matches. Wwe is good again

Makes sense considering he and shawn formed the most unstable, uncensored and edgy factions WWE has or ever will see, he knows what brought in Money and hes bringing it back!
I believe that they are starting to make a transition, with the top stars doing stuff like this, it is a wonder if the other wrestlers will have the green light as well. Only time will tell.
Renaissance era is the perfect name for this, because under Triple H's rule, we've reverted back to basics. Long term storytelling, every match matter, results matter, little wasted moments, ect. That minimalist stage for RAW this week is the biggest sign of the times. WWE is beyond hot and very firmly in a boom period. How long will it last, no clue, but let's enjoy this while it's happening.
I wouldn't say the PG era is dead until we see more of what happened this past Monday night on RAW with Rock's beatdown on Cody Rhodes. They also have to allow more swearing and stop censoring the talent and the crowd.
I hope it's over. I won't miss an episode if they go PG-13. They're professional wrestlers not someone proper like a doctor or teacher. Pro wrestling should be gritty 🙏
This era of professional wrestling once it's said and done is going to go down as the best ever. Between quality matches, long-term storytelling, segments, great balance of heels/faces + the influx of talent down in NXT, WWE is headed in the right direction. Not to mention the Netflix deal and multiple PLE's happening outside of the US.

I haven't watched WWE in many years because of how dumb it had become when the pg Era hit. I just been watching wrestling news channels for updates cause I could NOT sit through any more. It felt like my brain cells were dying off one by one every minute. But if these changes as of late stay in place, I'll for sure come back. I'd like to have fun watching again, like I did as a kid in the attitude Era. That's what kept me watching, that's what will bring me back.

I mean, even with WWE going full PG, it's still violent TV. There were occasional bouts of blood, as well as Extreme Rules matches. Mattel was still manufacturing toys based on wrestlers fighting one another while putting themselves through tables and such. A quick Google Search shows a steel cage made by Mattel.

If WWE goes to TV-14, Mattel and other advertisers will walk out. Netflix ain't going to change squat. WWE will not willingly give up the Mattel partnership. PG is going to remain. People need to get this through their thick skulls.

1. Mattel won't stop making toys for wwe. They'd be giving up money. 2. Kids won't atop buying wrestling toys because generally what kids think is cool is what the older kids thinks is cool. I grew up with the additude era when I was a child and it was great. Bring that intensity back.
I don't care what the rating is. I just want the wrestling or fighting to have freedom to tell a better story which may include blood or hardcore antics and dialogue where they actually talk like real humans instead of corny comic book charecters
I think this is a preview of whats to come with the netflix switch. WWE can get away with it now and demonstrate it because their viewership is through the roof, we are a week out of wrestlemania basically. Dont be surprised to see a more dumbed down product again through the rest of the year.

@MotherHen2012 Get off it, the adults are the demographics, not the kids plus merchandise and toys aren't their main priority it's ratings and if we went back to a more edgy product and had wrestlers that had a personality then WWE may be mainstream again.
When i was a kid it was hulk hogan and vitamins, which parents could get in on, but hogan was still battling villains who were making him bleed or smashing his rib cage. It was violent.

They should make TV-14 on all 3 shows Raw, Smacksown, and NXT. I think the PG Era should be done and it should be. If they could make TV-14, It would help the ratings a lot.

I grew up with the additude era when I was a child and it was great. Bring that intensity back.

Nah it'll be the renaissance era cause attitude era is in the past. This one is a new era.
I think this is a preview of whats to come with the netflix switch. WWE can get away with it now and demonstrate it because their viewership is through the roof, we are a week out of wrestlemania basically. Dont be surprised to see a more dumbed down product again through the rest of the year.
remember what bischoff said back in the day? "controversy creates cash" (and ratings of course). we need more conroversial storylines like in the good ol days. wwe is back on track, now it's important that hey make the best out of it. the new wwe year starts right after wrestlemania and for the first time in over 15 years i'm looking forward to it.
I stopped watching wrestling like around 2012- and now started watching during wrestlemania 39 because peacock was streaming it so now ive been paying attention to wwe again
It's about time wwe stopped catering to little squeakers and started giving us longtime fans some actual good entertainment
The kids and the families bring more cash in. TKO are a business and that's all they will care about.

@MotherHen2012 Get off it, the adults are the demographics, not the kids plus merchandise and toys aren't their main priority it's ratings and if we went back to a more edgy product and had wrestlers that had a personality then WWE may be mainstream again.

When i was a kid it was hulk hogan and vitamins, which parents could get in on, but hogan was still battling villains who were making him bleed or smashing his rib cage. It was violent.

Remember in 2020 when they had women dancing on Raw Underground, and they scrapped that idea after only one week because people complained? Loosening the rules for a few weeks before WM doesn’t mean much. Don’t hold your breath.
Same month (I think) that they pussied out of having Alexa Bliss tied up in any way, despite her being sat in the ring wearing the same clothes what was said to be a week apart, despite showing no ill effects of where she was meant to have been; same reason Malakai/Aleister Black's pitch of an angle where he kidnapped Aalyah and Dom when he would have feuded with Rey Mysterio was rejected, could have been really cool, dark angles...

I hope they bring back the gritty edgy brutality old WWF/WWE had. The Rick Flair blood promos and the Steve Austin “bang” revolver sounds are just a few I have remembered over the years

They should make TV-14 on all 3 shows Raw, Smacksown, and NXT. I think the PG Era should be done and it should be. If they could make TV-14, It would help the ratings a lot.
