Man that 2009 team was stacked, FTS! Peterson, Favre, Berrian, Rice, Harvin, Shiancoe... SHEESH.
Now Cousins, Hockeson, Cook, Jefferson and Thielen.
His 99 yard TD catch and his huge day in Arizona will always be favorite memories of mine. People talk about Bernard Berrian today like he was a joke of a wide receiver, Chicago fans and Viking fans alike will joke, “remember when Bernard Berrian was our number 1 wideout?”
Yes, yes I do remember and he deserved that status. Guy single handedly won the saints game in 2008, and was criminally underutilized in the NFC championship against the same team in 2009.
He’s not my favorite player, I know he’ll never be in the Hall of Fame, or even the Ring of Honor, but he deserves to be remembered as something other than FA bust like a lot of my friends and family remember him as.
Seems u just have fondness of him. He most definitely wasn’t worth his contract, and certainly didn’t put up the production of a good WR1.
While he didn't live up to his potential (or his contract), he certainly gets more hate than he should. I think one of the biggest issues was that after having four 100-yard games his first year here in 2008, the only time he would do it again in the next three seasons would be in the Saints NFC Champ game. It seems he had too many Sundays where he just wouldn't show up.
I loved watching Berrian, didn't he have like 19 YPC one season?! Thank you Bears!
