- In this NorthStar Pro. Short film (Mountain Muley), the NorthStar crew heads to Arizona for a first attempt at the over-the-counter, public land Mule deer hunt. This hunt was challenging, but we gave Arizona all we had to give as we chased Mountain Muleys for a week. We hope you enjoy watching this hunt as much as we enjoyed doing it!

Az archery mule deer hunts are the best! We've bagged some massive ones on the Navajo reservation.
I have a mule deer hunt in a couple of weeks and this vid has me stoked, love the content
Awesome job on the video and doing your homework. Its not easy going in blind in a unknown area/state. Keep up the good work and the awesome videos!
Thank you, much appreciated!
Looked like a lot of fun!
It was! Thanks for watching.
Good job on the stalk!🔥
Great video. You will get them next time. Archery is very tough especially in wide open areas such as where you were. Beautiful cinematography.
Thank you! It was a challenging hunt and a great learning experience. We’re excited about another try at Arizona. It's always great to hear that people appreciate the film work; it's a passion of ours.
@@northstarpro.2730 I recently turned 16 and am thinking about trying to film some of my hunts this year. The idea of filming and editing it is a little daunting. All I would have to film is my phone and then a heavy dslr with a heavy zoom lens which is a pain to take backpacking especially when combined with all of the extra gear for hunting. I would use my phone and a phone skope but I do not have a spotting scope and I would want a way to get good footage of the animal during the shot. It is very impressive with what you guys manage to do filming your hunts.
My best advice would be to get out and do it. You don't need the newest, most expensive camera, just take what you have and learn the techniques. That's much more valuable than having fancy gear.
I’ve been chasing desert deer with my bow for many years in Arizona. It’s never easy. Great job though guys. Next time you’re planning a trip down here let me know. I have some areas that hold more deer and opportunities. Good luck!
Thanks you, we’ll do!
New to bow hunting myself..I'm on 3rd day javalina hunt in az with 2 failed stalks so far..its a humbling experience for sure lol great vid
Humbling indeed. Thank you, and good luck!
Tip keep your voices to a whisper as soon as your out of the truck. Use hand signals while on the glass
I bought my license right behind you gentleman! Small world.....let me know you want to find some more bucks down this way! I will send you to some spots that have splenty for all 3 of you
Thanks for the offer, we’ll keep it in mind. 👍
I’m from Tucson, AZ. Hit me up 🤙🏽 next time I’ll share some insightful tips in the southern units
Sounds good, we’ll do that.
I think I recognize a cuple landmarks;: were you on the bloody basin road, past horseshoe ranch, or anywhere close?
Other parts looked like table mesa rd, east side of freeway. LOTS OF LIONS in both areas. Good luck, guys! I bowhunted central Az for 40+ yrs. Ain't nothing else like it on the planet!!
Horseshoe Ranch sounds right, we hit a few different places, but we were in that area. Thanks, we appreciate it!
Ground squril holes . Snakes can't dig hole . No hands or paws . Those are gourds you smashed open. And the plant is a yucca not palm. I live in the town of the walmart you got your tags at. Looks like yall had some good times.
Thanks for the answers, next time around we'll be all the more educated. 👍
Prairie dog holes.
@@craiglugojr.7949 I’m just guessing they were in or around my home unit in south eastern AZ. So I was thinking more along the lines of the round tailed ground squirrel. They look a lot like prairie dogs bug smaller. They do and act just the same.
Where was this, i was down in the Buenos Ares Wildlife Refuge down by sasabe around the same time.
Great job first time out.
Great video, if you guys come back out, hit one of us up, like others have mentioned.
We can put you in better areas with lots of bucks.
What unit?
Those holes look like it’s probably a coyote den.
Thank you much, we were thoroughly confused.
Tell me what lessons you learned?
Patience and persistence, they’re invaluable traits when you’re bow hunting.
@@northstarpro.2730 most definitely! What else?
Doing all that to chase a couple spikes around…. We really need some point restrictions in AZ
We are already restricted with the current harvest limits. I really don't think we need to start restricting on points. We need to give the option for doe. But as anything everyone is open to opinion.
Prairie dog holes🤦🏻♂️
IT'S OVER!
NO MORE O.T.C. DEER HUNTS IN JANUARY. Every good thing always comes to an end.
WHAT?!? That would be wild. When was that announced?
Assuming everything will be closed?
They are just limiting the out of state archery tags. It is first come first serve. Get on tha AGFD website and see if any are left. Also the units are on a quota system now, so check the website to make sure the unit you want to hunt hasn't closed yet.
Instead of calling out someone else’s “embarrassing stalking ability” Why not highlight what you think he could have done better? We’re you willing to politely educate him on Instead of coming to someone else’s state, shaming a potentially new hunter? I’m not a new hunter, but I understand what it’s like to be a new hunter. Come to a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu mat and I’ll make you feel embarrassed and pathetic guaranteed. The difference is no one is going to call you out on it because we aren’t pretentious.
New subscriber here. Love your video! We have a similar CZcams channel if you want to check it out, "Hunt and Gather with the Chatters". Keep up the good work!
