Bit slow on this, but the reason you don't find 9mm allen keys often, is because, more commonly, they're called a 3/8" allen key, which is pretty standard. So maybe try an imperial allen key set.
Better late than never. I'm pinning this, I never really thought to look into Imperial since the sizing overlap diminishes more as the size increases.

@@bittech1 Interesting. I did the initial lookup using a conversion table. Just went out and measured my tools using a caliper. My 3/8" key comes in at 9.2mm, give or take, with my metric keys coming in at the usual 8mm & 10mm. I assume that the 3/8" is a bit too large, when you say it doesn't fit?

Hey, thank you for the Video,, i was looking at the EKWB stuff for a water cooling build. thank you for the break down of the stuff.
Have the D5 FLT 360, it looks excellent and easy to mount and use. The machining texture on the back does home on to some dirt a little so good to do regular maintenance on these but it's easy if you have the drain and fill top and bottom to refresh water quickly.

I would really love to see EKWB create a reservoir that can be mounted on a vertical GPU slot. I know it’s not a very good idea since not a huge amount of cases have vertical mounts, but it would be really cool to see it happen.

I have the 240 volume - and was puzzled about mounting - your suggestion to drill the included mounting brackets did the trick!

Great video. I have the 200mm Quantum Kinetic pump and res.
A fairly good effort from EK on these res units. Like you said it needs more ports on the back for use in upright front mount installs as having the res laying on its side is really wasting half of its volume. I have a custom made D5 CNC pump-res combo in my build (Radikult Customs) and it has 4 ports on the back for in and out plus a drains it has only one port on the front which I use for filling.
The D5 is a great pump so I'd go for that if your buying one of these and have the room for it. The only downfall of these type of units is they are a bit of pain when it comes to cleaning time. Tube res units come apart really easy. CNC res units mean there is a ton of screws to remove first and then you have to be very careful not to damage the O-ring when it goes back together.

I bought their distro for the 011 dynamic which is quite similar. I had to be a little creative with the plumbing because i'm using their thicc rads which isn't as they planned for the original o11 dynamic, but it works nicely.This one has ports on the back too but was only available with a DDC sadly. I#m still happy how my first hardline build worked out though :)
Add UV lighting and see that build really shine. Trust me you'll be taken back by his damn good it will look then!
Plus I also strongly agree on the back port option, that would really clean things up exceptionally well on top!
I also build a lot of custom cooling systems, but everything is torqued, I bought back then a Wiha VDE certified electric moment screwdriver to handle plexi, acetal and other materials. overtorqued bolds happens so fast, better safe than sorry. The first time, I learned that the hard way. Further, I like the video, it gives the possibility to being creative and make an own esthetic loop. I used a flat reservoir in front of my Lian Li 011 Dynamic Evo XL, but on the side I build 2 real TL black lights from 30cm each (don't try this if you aren't familiar with electrics and the working of the electronics behind the TL's). And used green UV liquid in the loop, and the DRGB from the reservoir in red, the contrast is amazing. Behind the UV tubes, I have 3 totally black fans, to exhaust the heat of the tubes. And as good as invisible to the eye. With creativity, the sky is the limit.

I'm thinking about using one of these in my Phanteks P500A. I have a motherboard monoblock and vertically mounted GPU block that are both simple acrylic and brushed nickel look, and something like this (originally looked at a distro plate but I have 2 rads) would really tie it all together. Gonna have to do some measuring but I think this would look good in replacing those ugly panels to the right of the motherboard in this case.
Then drill a fill and drain port holes in the case and make maintenance exponentially easier.
Going to need an extensive amount of measuring...

I have had the flt240 in my system for a few weeks and they look good but they missed the mark with the position of the ports. Having 5 at the bottom and only a fill port in the top is a mistake. I am limited because of this in my installation in the Lian li 011 . And the plastic 9mm breaks very easy and without much torque and when putting a D5 pump in you will have trouble fitting it....the actual pump will just fit but the wiring coming out the rear of the pump is a problem so I couldnt put it on flush with the lian li 011 dynamic ( ended up using the larger bracket as it was easier to get my fingers behind when mounting to the case directly. Still if they had one right on the top and on the right I could have positioned it where I wanted

I'm considering the FLT120 version to stuff into the empty 5.25" front drive bays in my Cooler Master HAF922 case for my next build. It lives under the desk, so it doesn't need to look pretty inside.
If you can locate the Wiha Tools 66998 L-key set, that includes a 9mm. Sadly this set may be discontinued and wiha's site doesn't seem to find anything really when you enter 9mm hex. The other route is to go with a socket, where you may have more luck finding one. If you want to keep the torque down, you can either use it without a handle, or use a circular style hand wrench.

I have the 360 version with a d5 pump. Goes really well in my O11 XL.
You will get micro bubbles on the wall of the res but give it time and they will go away.
Awesome, i just redid my loop last night and added the FLT360 D5 and have static micro bubbles currently. The RGB looks really good in the dark
Update: 1 day later, almost all of the micro bubbles are gone

Alex, How would you go about removing the machining path pattern in the bottom surface of these blocks if you wanted them to be crystal clear? What tool would you use, and speed/feed?
there is more then one way to polish acrylic, sure they couldn't do direct machine polishing, and buffing would be another chore, but they could do vapor polishing, or flame polishing if they wanted to; the reason they didn't make it look clear is for one reason: cost. the bottom line is the fact they have to compete not in looks, but mainly in function, and they have to meet a certain price point to do that; and the longer it's on a machine, or the more steps in the manufacturing line, the more their margin either shrinks, or the endpoint price goes up which limits their growth or consumer base [if not both].

ngl, what you did is best but you can use those sticky command pad things to get the reservoir to hold on the bottom and the fitting's do a good job for support as well.
You're likely not going to be moving around looped system anyways unless it's empty, so if anyone doesn't have tools to bore screw holes into the mount - there's always that as a cheap alternative that isn't compromising.
9mm allen key is quite hard to find (aside from the EKWB shop). I only saw it included in a very large set of allen keys at a local hardware store, but it DOES exist.

P.S. I asked you about a custo. Resiviour awhile ago with a corsair logo in the top piece. Was wondering should I leave it at the 5mm height or bring it below that.
Still trying to map out my lines fpr hard tube and possibly make a distro block for the back side of my 500D. Either above the mobo or just behind the resivour in the front.
Looks nice. I'm stuck on this one or a glacier one. Look proper nice in an itx case. Not into led even though I've got it on everything I own lol. Turned off. Except my ram. this and the ram would be more than enough led for me lol.
Coming in late as well, but you inspired me to do my first custom loop. I currently am building it, and have EK products, like the video. I have the 360 RES set the same way as the video, and a 240 res verticle on the front RAD. The goal is double RES, independently for the GPU and CPU.
Would you share how you set the drain for this run? Thank you in advance and also for the inspiration!
I honestly can't decide if I want to get one of these pump/res combos, I like the way they look, but at the same time, I don't like a multitude of things, starting with the stated fact that there are no ports on the back, where there is some amount of clearance, as well as the fact that the output generates bubbles since it isn't below the waterline (I guess it could be oriented differently, or filled to the max with great care), and if used in a horizontal configuration, only like 50% of the coolant is being effectively used.

I bought your pump reservoir. Didn't use the cheap thing built to light. I did use your brackets which are nice, The reservoir I can't not in good faith resale as it's a rip off and yes I tested it and it leaks, I used your brackets and ended up with what I wanted with EK FLT 240 and a D5 next and it turned out great with your brackets it was spendy with having to buy 2 to get 1, thanks to your brackets. It turned out better than I hoped. Use your brackets for the EK FLT reservoir you could sell a lot. I not angry about your reservoir! I kinda new it was built to light. Yes I lost money but I really don't care about money. and I poor but rich. I just telling you the brackets I got worked great with 240 FLT. I used your fan brackets in conjunction with your pump reservoir brackets. in the 011 case side mounted with the D5 next it looks stunning great with pump facing front window. Used the EK 3080 founders addition water block and you wouldn't believe how it all turned out. Best 011 looking/ to date I have ever seen, way better than using distro plates. I also in bottom of case I sealed the air flow with flex steel and I put a mirror on top of that to show off the fantastic GPU EK water block. It all fit perfectly and is stunning to look at. Its all side mounted to a x flow rad The tubing runs are the best I have ever seen and they are proper. My grandson when he seen I sealed off all air vents in bottom and back . Said all the other Hardware sites the more air you can get in the better, I told him your the smartest boy in science in our town as well as the other subjects. These hardware sites on utube are in it for the MONEY, They lie for money and most are not real smart. Remember your science. Air, water, electricity all take the path of least resistance. By sealing the case and great top air flow out and side intake . We have to use filters on both intake and exhaust. This case is differant than your case you have 011XL, Because of what I did by sealing this case I want negative air flow just a little your case I want positive air flow, Why? Path of least resistance in the smaller case being sealed. it forces air in the filter has to be in the side so there is pretty good flow resistance we have filters in both intake exhaust, we don't need filter in exhaust but for now it's a control on negative pressure . we will likely remove that. control to make more negative pressure, Flow is flow, With this case sealed and the filter on the side that creates resistance to flow all the air coming in has to go to the top rad buy removing the top filter its going to pull more air out of case. because we sealed the case it has to come from the side rad opening their is no other way for it to come in. So your actually pulling more air through the side mount because the top rad fans are creating negitive pressure they are helping the side mount fans overcome the side filter. Thats why science always comes first. Air like water and electricity. Will take path of least resistance the strong Noctua fans aid that process, With out sealing the little vents in case they become the path of least resistance, He looked at me and shook his head , Than he said I see clearly what your teaching me. I said you already new these things now learn how to apply them. After the pc was done I didn't have to pull top filter temps were good by removing them, It equaled the 011 XL build that uses bigger rads and dual loop. My builds never go up to 80c I don't care how ya test, Food for thought and thanks for the very nice brackets it was worth it. Way better looking than the XL setup which bottom top rad placement the side is the place I put 240 FLT and the 120 FLT. both those rads are X flow the 011 orginal has xflow side and dual pass top . I had to use dual pass to bring it all together and honestly that is the best looking 011 I have ever seen and I look at everything. The plumbing is unbelievable. I also re painted that was hard stripping the paint off the white case I powder coated both cases baked in oven and it turn out great, The small case how it ended up was thanks to your setup even though I used 240 FLT the brackets were key.

Been looking for parts to put into my Enthoo 719, there's a big gap below the motherboard to the bottom of the case, think i can fit a 360 quantum kinetic across there and put a 480 rad in the front and a 360 up top. Looks like EK sell brackets that let you change the orientation of the res.
I might be a bit late but I'm currently working on a build into the Enthoon 719. I put a 360mm on the top, 480mm in the front and a thick 360mm below the vertical mounted pump

Get a borosilicate glass tube reservoir. They work with any cooling fluid you choose. They do not discolour, craze (micro crack), or stain. Glass cleans easy, without as much worry about scratches. Plus, you can mount one almost anywhere and not block air flow. What, are you going to buy a computer case with beautiful tempered glass sides, just so you can show off a reservoir made of cheap acrylic plastic?

One question if I may, what caused the "bubble lines" across the inside of the distro plate? is it machine marks as it distracts from the overall clean aesthetic look of the build. Really cool video and I love your in depth review and build scenario of these products.
Andrew Bedford That’s from filling the case at an angle and not having enough time to disperse them all. If you fill it in a regular orientation they won’t be there 👍
bit-tech: Thank you so much for your reply, I don’t realise that just filling it normally could produce such a uniformity in bubbles forming on the inside, I mean they are perfectly straight hence why I thought they collected there because of possible machine marks. So I guess running the pump at 100% for say 10-15 minutes would remove them. Thanks again for reply I really appreciate it.
@@andydbedford running the pump for like .. 3 or 4 days :) the tiniest bubbles get absorbed more than they get pushed away. it takes time but they do go away

Nelson Lopez Main issue isn’t that space is currently multi-function. Perhaps in the future though there’ll be a dedicated zone in which we can go ham haha. I’ve certainly picked up a bunch of things over the years that would be fun back there, more so than the ol’ box wall that everybody has nowadays.
FYI, those M4 screw's head style isn't called "countersunk", they're technically called "flat sockethead cap screws", with "flat" being the head style and "Sockethead" being the drive type (which many people incorrectly call "Allen screws" or "hex screws")...just helping out anyone who might want to buy them so they can easily find them from an industrial supplier or at their local hardware store
FYI the terms also differ by location. I only buy my screws from Accu.co.uk, which is very much an engineering supplier, and these are the terms they use for their selections.
I'm distracted by how awesome your mustache is. Something about res from EK, what bothers me about those is why can't they make the pump cables all black?
