Project ENSIS | Building a Custom PC from SCRATCH for AORUS | 600 Hours in 30 Minutes

- Here it is folks, I condensed the whole build process into a 30 minute or so segment, so sit back, relax and enjoy the chips :)
Since everybody asked for it, I edited this one natively in 4K, even with youtube compression it should be extra crispy!
Thank you to everybody who followed the build! This one was probably my biggest challenge to date, there was so much involved in every single step and your support made it all the more worthwhile. Of course a huge thank you has to go out to Aorus and Intel for commissioning the rig and to Corsair for sponsoring the watercooling components.
Some fun stats for you:
- The build weighs 24.3kg (53.6lb)
- There are ~450 LEDs present in this rig.
- In total there's about 650GB of footage for this one project.
- Some parts needed to be remade up to 4 times before I was happy with the fit and finish.
- Glass blasting thin aluminium panels is a right pain.
- The motherboard tray uses 6 types of screws. I had to use 6/32 fillister screws in order to get the outer rim thin enough for the reservoir to function properly.
- The main Fusion 360 CAD model for Ensis is currently at version 187.
- I came down to my last 15cm of transparent sleeving. Cutting it close to the wire eh?..

My CNC router is a CNC Step S1000T w/ Mechatron 800W air cooled spindle. I use Datron tooling, primarily their 4-in-1 single flute wiper polished endmills.

This video deserves so much more attention. I can say that is the most beautiful pc I have ever payed my eyes on

You designed your own CPU cabin with minute details of holes and bolts to hold your graphics card, mother board etc and you insulated everything seperatedly with in the CPU based on it's work and heat generation & configuration, wiring,assembly of cooling fans, connecting coolent pipes what not. You designed even your CPU back side with leaving gaps for holes of USB & lan ports. Awesome craftmanship and passion to the core.
at this point, it's not just building a computer anymore. It's became art

I've just put this video on my TV in the background whilst our neighbours are round for a chat and a drink (she's a single parent and we're in a support bubble and have been since last March). About 10 minutes in, both my wife and our friend were mesmerised (CNC machines are really satisfying to watch). Neither of them like PC's or knew what the hell was going on, but at the end they were both incredibly impressed. "That's art, that's a work of art. That guy is amazing," said our friend. "Can you build me one like that? That's beautiful!" asked my wife.
And they're right, it is a work of art.

@@PoisionKevin Well, I don't have a CNC machine, a sand blaster, any engineering knowledge, any money or an awesome moustache, sooooooo the answer is going to be a no.
@@steveghawtin One case like that can cost few hundreds $ (i would say half grand, manufacturing + materials) if you took a guy (a shop or what else) that can build it one for you. :P

This is a visual representation of the ultimate harmony between man and machine; man imagines...machine executes to the micron. You, sir, are a true artist!
There are really a lot of videos of hilarious PC- builts- but this kind of work is unparalleled. Unbelievable, how much attention you pay to details (not to mention, how much effort is behind it). Your work is almost not a computer anymore, but pieces of art. I especially like how you milled the different parts (especially if you know the plastic cable combs...) I´m already looking forward to your next projects!
There's building a custom computer, then there's fabricating practically the entire thing from scratch. Truly a work of art.

as soon as I saw you work on those cables I just had to share it around. this is way beyond craftsmanship. this needs to be a mythic item in the real world.

@@gpapazac he’s probably right on the parts cost around $4000 the case if that’s what you wanna call it is what would make this build very expensive the guy can probably ask for outrageous amount of money and some rich twat would happily pay it

The cost would be cheaper if he made it himself which he did, but if he sold it most of it would come from time and precision. Not to mention voiding the motherboard warranty and the custom parts.

It's now possibly the only IO shield in the world that won't remove a finger every time you touch it.

Favourite bits:
1. The rear panel. The cutouts for the motherboard and GPU IO are gorgeous, everything about it is perfect.
2. The RGB in the distro plates and, especially, the res. The way you've got got them positioned inside the acrylic makes them flow beautifully.
3. The cable runs. Both the "interesting" routing around the side of the board, and the routing "through" the motherboard tray.
4. The motherboard. Specifically, stripping off all that black (not to mention the glass blasted finish you gave them). Take note, Gigabyte, this is how this board should ship ;-)
5. The GPU backplate. Again, I hope Gigabyte are taking notes here.
It's been a real treat following this build, it's an absolute work of art! :-D

It baffles me that you don’t have more than at least a million subscribers for this kind of work. Not just anyone could do this level of conceptualization, design, machining, and finishing. The production quality is marvelous as well. Absolutely stunning. Makes me wanna go back into machining

The cables are the simplest part about the whole thing.
Most people watching this don't know how much extra work it is to be filming along as your going along, then editing it to an abridged cohesive package.
"Perfect" is not enough to say how amazing it was ... watching this whole process was a real show! I’m really deeply moved, it’s like I’ve seen the montage of my dream computer ... just amazing!

Honestly, I've always found open cases far superior to closed for dust. Dust filters just feel like the biggest con to me, they just clog up and your system still ends up dusty as hell. With an open system it's very easy to lightly clean it every so often, the dust only really accumulates on the radiators. It's no different to the dust on the outside of a PC or on your desk/tv etc.
@@bittech1 you mean grab a brush and give it a wiggle one in a while to dust the board? I wouldn't want dust getting inbetween those cables and tubes. In my opinion closed cases are superior for usage.

Only real reason to run closed cases are to keep the internals out of harms way, and to reduce noise.

You are a craftsman and artist, of the highest order. This is the perfect example, of a project I wanted to do; for a bachelor technology advanced theme, small home build. I called it: The future is bright. You are the only person I can think of, that could pull it off. Amazing build!!

An ITX version could be sweet if the radiators are placed in their own enclosure. Those are the one bit that’s hard to shrink given the power requirements are largely the same :/
