  • Five Finger Death Punch Fans.....FEELIN' YOU!!! Tonight we're coming back to Five Finger Death Punch, with a song entitled "Wrong Side Of Heaven". FULL DISCLOSURE: I have heard this song before, I am very familiar with the studio recording of it. However, the requesters wanted to see me react to the official music video (oh boy). How's this one gonna go? Only one way to find out...

    I'm a Vietnam War Veteran, and I've seen this video about 50 times. I've cried each time! Most people these days don't want to be bothered with veterans and the problems they face every day. A wise man once said that there are no unwounded veterans of war - some wounds can be seen, but most can't be seen. I am so thankful for Five Finger Death Punch and Sabaton. They're the only bands I know of who tell the stories of warriors and veterans. Thank you for doing this video David; I know that it was a hard one to watch, but the truth needs to be told. Regarding the statistics.... The numbers are higher now than they were at the time this video was made. Things are getting worse, not better. Peace, my friend!

      Sometimes music is able to rub our face into something we try to ignore, or make us awere of something we should know.
      I'm from Italy and I'm not familiar with your military system so I can't make any judgments.
      But you don't need to be an expert to figure out that if you have a suicide every 2 hours (or more) in a specific group, there is something to be done.

      I want to personally thank you for your service. My late husband, who passed away 4 years ago was a Vietnam Vet. We were married for 48 years when he passed. He didn't have PTSD, but his memories weren't good. Agent Orange did contribute to his death. In more ways than just the physical ones. Luckily we had a great group of volunteers that help vets get the help they need. They file all the documents and send you to the right Drs. My husband was declared 100% disabled in July of the year he died. He died in Sept. But thankfully I now draw VA benefits. And let me tell you, it helps. Social Security is not that much. The VA pays my real estate taxes and the tag on one car. There is help out there. If any vet lives in Oklahoma and needs help just let me know and I will give you the name of the group that helps.

    Thank you David, for your honest and real reaction to this video and its topic. You did not edit out your emotional reaction, you wanted it seen and I applaud you for that. I am a 100 percent disabled veteran. I have watched this video at least 50 times or more and it NEVER fails to stir up emotions and I have shed tears watching it more times than I care to think about. Even though you are not a veteran yourself, you recognize the travesty of what our veterans go through and you see the unfathomable injustice in how they are treated, as a disabled vet I cannot thank you enough for showing this video and doing your part to spread this message and for not being afraid to show your emotions and display your gratitude to every veteran who has ever put on the uniform in the service of our country. I may not be able to speak for all of us, but I know I speak for many when I say THANK YOU....even knowing how it would turn out in the end...I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. To all my brothers and sisters who are out there, and the ones who have commented below I say Thank you family! Your sacrifices have not been in vain, and you will always be remembered in prayer, thought, and deed.

I might have seen this video a thousand times without exaggerating and it hits me every time. As you said towards the end. These are no longer soldiers. They are human beings. This is done to human beings. A total catastrophy that must stop. But I guess it will continue until people stop seeing dollar bills and weighing money over all, and this means it probably will be like this forever. It said right in the beginning "these numbers are rising" and they have. I am fortunate enough to be eligible for and receive VA assistance, but not all of my brothers and sisters are.

This video should be played on TV regularly to bring the issue into every home in the USA. The greatest Democracy in the world could and should do more for those who defend it. You don't have to react to it but should definitely check out on your own time the video 'Memorial Day 2021 Jocko Willink'. It is a powerful 5 minute tribute to veterans and service members and important message to Americans unfamiliar with such sacrifices they go through. Here is a small part of it;
    Jocko Willink "Ideas are not protected by words. Paper and ink may outline the foundation and principles of this nation, but it is blood, only blood that protects it. In that dusty compound a man you have never met gave everything he had so that you have the freedom to think, speak, and act however you choose. He went there for all of us whether you loved or hated what he stood for. He went there to preserve the opportunity and privilege to believe, to be, and to become what we want."

    As soon as I saw the title of the song/video… I just thought, Oh, God. I’ve seen numerous reactions to it, so I’m well aware of just how emotionally intense it is. But of course I didn’t know you have family in the armed forces. I had grandfathers who served in WWII. One of them was a fighter pilot and had a lifelong interest in aviation. Whenever any type of program involving aircraft or flight comes up I think of him. Well, my own personal policy is to support soldiers much more than any war or armed conflict. In my view they do all of the true work, shedding all of the blood, sweat and tears. While a lot of politicians kick back in Washington to count their profits and ratings. But it’s the soldiers who actually get their hands dirty, and that’s a huge credit to their own character, to give so selflessly. I often wish there was much more selflessness in the world. And every soldier who ever served, always very bravely put others before themselves.

    I am neither an American nor a veteran, nor have I ever "served my country". Nevertheless, this concerns me very much. I am more than content with what I see as the "simple" things in life. And yet, for so many others, these "simple" things are a luxury. I am grateful for this life of mine, but I hate that it is a privilege.
    This video shouldn't even have to exist, nor should veterans. "Serving one's country" should mean harvesting vegetables, working as a doctor, nurse, mechanic, logistician, and so on. "Serving one's country" should mean "serving one's people". And one's people are all people, from any country. If this were achieved, "one" would turn to "we", "one's" to "our". We'd serve our planet. We'd serve us.
    Sadly, this will always be written in this form: full of "should" and "if" and "would". When even the "service for one's country" isn't served back in any way that matters, how can one not feel that there's so much wrong? How can't one feel?
    Thank you for once again showing a reason why I am in the right place here with you.

    I suffer from PTSD as well. My life has never been the same since.
    Carry on brothers and sisters. Let's always keep an open heart, an open hand, and open arms. Good folks like you give me reason to see one more day.

The point was that they had both served at one time in the same unit... and I have seen cops do that for vets getting arrested on drunken disorderly... they talk with them connect with them then show them some respect most of the time in those cases they don't even get charged they just put them in the drunk tank over night to sober up and release them in the morning

    I so appreciate your response to this video. I have two brothers who served in Vietnam. Thankfully they both came home, though they were fundamentally changed. We lost a nephew during the first Desert Storm, have another who after his Marine service began working for Wounded Warrior Project. I married a Vietnam Vet, our youngest son served in the Army, though thankfully never deployed. (Though he very much wanted to). So the message this song delivered hit me soooo hard. I’m grateful for the sacrifices all vets have made, and it’s time to put our money where our mouths are. Help is desperately needed!

    Well, I guess you know why everyone wanted you to watch the video, it gives the song so much more context. The video wasn't an afterthought, they it released at the same time as the song. The stats are much higher now. You need to watch FFDP "Gone Away" official video. It was the same two from the video. The black dude was saying, "Bill, Bill, it's me Jacoby. You saved my life Brother." I am a Viet Nam vet, and we were treated like shit when we came home. So many of my brothers died over there, and so many of us never really came home. So many of us came back and turned to drugs or ate the barrel of a gun. I attempted suicide twice but was lucky enough to get a good doctor at the VA who helped me cope. I still have insomnia and depression, but I take it day to day. To all my Nam brothers, you aren't alone. I've got your 6. You might also want to watch the official FFDP video "Coming Down" which is about another subject that is often glossed over.

    Thank you David for doing this. As a vet who is dealing with the VA myself over medical benefits, having issues finding and keeping jobs, and I myself have spent time in a homeless shelter. it's complete bullshit, and these numbers are enraging. We have 100's of thousands of vets homeless on the streets, yet our government can fork out millions to house illegal immigrants without a second thought.

    • @joshbull623
      @joshbull623 Před rokem +2

      It isn't just housing too, its an entire program. It features housing, education including college, Child Tax Credit(10.5 Billion-2021) and medical care. Then you look at other stuff like we just gave $40 Billion in aid to Ukraine, $12 billion to the U.N. budget, more than $50 billion in aid to support NATO. We however cannot find anywhere in the budget a meager few million for vets in need, even just the homeless ones.

  • @poesenpai6475
    @poesenpai6475 Před rokem +4

    My dad is a Vietnam vet, 80 years old this past September. He had a heart surgery a few years ago and they had to literally tie him down in bed because the pain medicines made him have flashbacks. When he came home from the hospital my mom heard him shout, he'd thrown himself out of bed and was on the floor. She said, 'What happened?' He said "I thought I was in an attack...I...sorry, honey," and she helped him get back into the bed. He only ever tells us the funny stories about his service, never the serious stuff, but from those events I know he went through some major stuff he just doesn't want to share with family.

    I lost one friend in Afghanistan, one came home with severe PTSD.

    Now I have some weird sort of survivors guilt.

    First of all, thank you to your brother brother for his service. This was probably the best yet hardest reaction to watch. I myself am not a veteran nor do I have PTSD, but my Dad is a Vietnam vet. Fortunately my Dad wasn't hit hard like others, though there is stuff my Dad never talks about and I never push him on the matter. I do see the toll it takes on Veterans whenever I go with my Dad to his appointments at the V.A. especially see the homeless hanging around the West L.A. VA hospital. Just there to be somewhere other that the streets.......I don't know what to say instead that just totally agreeing with what all you said.
    Take care, stay safe.
    P.S. another good one to check out is Metallica's "Confusion" off of the "Hardwired" album. It's a song about PTSD. The video also focuses on that, nothing like what FFDP did here, but still powerful.

    you always hear about all the benefits we get lol I finished 21 years as a combat medic with multiple deployments, I retired after losing part of a lung, 5 shoulder surgeries, metal plates in my face and so on. I am listed at 100% disabled and I continue to work full time, all these "benefits" don't cover the Dr. Bills for my family because in our entire valley there are about 2 Dr.'s that accept the coverage we are "given" by the government and the 2 that accept it are full, not able to take anymore Veterans, I have paid a few thousand dollars over the past 2 years for healthcare. I dont care about me but I pushed through injuries' to last until retirement because "family members will be covered" but if i would have known how little is covered I would have left right after the injury and found a career path that would have taken care of them better. oh well, ty for the great reaction Sir.

    Sadly, the number of veteran suicide is much higher now. It's known as "22 A Day." That's where the phrase "22 A Day is 22 too many" comes from. 8,030 veterans per year seems so insane but it's true!

    I always liked the song, but the video makes it hit so much different. To the point that I ...I love the video. The video is necessary. But I almost don't want to watch it due to how powerfully it affects me. I don't know how someone watches that and doesn't come away pissed off, sad, and frustrated. And I was never military. My dad, grandfather, uncle, and cousin all were. After Vietnam, my dad didn't want me in the military. His experience as disillusioning, and he is a disabled vet. The main reason I watched this time is because you did it. I wanted to hear your thoughts. And you didn't disappoint. I am glad we're of similar opinons here. You look at this, then the fight that has to happen to get funding....that PACT act stuff. I don't get it. This type of help should be part of the Pentagon's budget, wouldn't you think? I don't know...I am just some guy. But I appreciated you doing this, David, and putting the numbers in the description was good.

    PTSD is a complicated issue... A friend of mine served in the French Foreign Legion and had to shoot child soldiers in Africa. Something like that will probably accompany you even in your next life, especially if you're smart enough to know that it's not the childrens fault. We can train soldiers to look a person in the face and shoot him. But we can't prepare their psyche for the consequences of that...
