It takes like 3 days until you can put it back together without leaving finger prints.. looks good though! Nice to see people doing this the right way.
That looks awesome, I work in a body shop and going to do this on some take offs and get the look I want, my truck is velocity blue, Thanks for the video.
That look really great, I have a 2020 f250 can I do the same to the badges on mine of course in different colors. Or how do I know if my badges come apart like yours did.
@@ABrianLewisVlog No problem man. I put a Batman vinyl sticker over both front and back and black emblems on the wheels. I have the 2017 shadow black F 150 xlt. I call it The Bat Truck!
I think it's crazy for Ford to make an emblem this hard to snap off and on top of that make it that hard to take apart I mean it's an emblem not an engine, I would never try to do this on my own
Question, I have the same black and crystal clear you have in the video. The black looks awesome! Waited 12 hrs b4 I sprayed the crystal clear when I did within seconds the letters turned from smooth to wrinkly... did I do something wrong, not wait long enough or I shouldn't of put that clear on it since the black was an already enamel protective paint?
Sounds like you need to purchase a better quality clear. Maybe you’re clear is too old. The same thing happened to us when he did the fender badges. 2k clear is excellent. I would try that route.
Looks great but trying to color match with a rattle can is never the best option. If you are okay with it great but clearly the emblem in not even close to the body color!!! Doing a mat clear coat does helps
I'd like to try this on my '06 F150. The only thing I'd do different is use a better primer. Thanks for sharing. Where are you in KY? I'm near Louisville. Primer out of the can is hot garbage. I've had it lift on other parts after a few months of being in the sun. Is the oval the same over the generations or are there subtle dimension changes? I can't find a late model tailgate at any of my local salvage yards and don't feel like paying $120 for a new one without being 100% sure it will fit.
@@ABrianLewisVlog ive gone through a few different designs with paint and wrap and I think I decided to go matte black on the main, and gloss black on the lettering and lines with paint, I wanted to throw in orange cause I made an awesome looking under armour one but my girlfriend talked me out of it lol

If I could figure out how to send you a picture you would see it's just painted blue over the chrome from factory. It's just one piece with only 2 tabs a one plastic locator pin. No melted plastic rivets.
A Brian Lewis Vlog Yeh, it looks pretty good. I’ve got a Magentic Metallic truck I need to do this to, and Duplicolor doesn’t do magnetic metallic apparently.
I used the exact same paint and 220 grit sandpaper. All was done indoors at 65-70 degree temps. It all looked great! I waited 24 hours to clear and the black instantly “ crazed “ ? I guess that’s the word. I sanded again waited 24 hours, primed it and it did it again! Any tips on what to do now? Thanks guys!
@@ABrianLewisVlog it looked perfect until the clear coat hit it. Just the black Rust-Oleum did it, not the Magnetic gray Dupli Color. I am stumped. I am going to let it dry a few days, sand it and try it it’s Dupli color black. Too bad it was looking sick!

Why not base coat, glue back together, and then clear the finished product? Just wondering the thought process, I'm brand new to painting plastic

looks good wonder if a pro wrapper coulda did it with vinyl
Yes
Did the tabs on the inside of the tailgate need to be pressed in? Or was it more about just heating up the adhesive and prying carefully?
Zach Mateer tabs were the main concern need to be pressed in
Add the LED Ford emblem light on the front grill or door sill plates which are also LED’s!!
Looks amazing.

The silver probably dried quick because it's a lacquer. The black was definitely an enamel that would take awhile to cure out.
