If you're speaking purely on fighting capabilities, yes she is, if we are talking on her impact on the sport? She is underrated, without Ronda there wouldn't be woman mma in the UFC, her popularity was absolutely insane, just compare her to Nunes, Nunes is a vastly superior fighter and doesn't sell/appeal 10% of what Ronda was

Ronda was not overrated. She completely dominated everybody she ever fought until she lost twice. And if she would've kept relying on her grappling and just implemented striking where she could she might've kept going. She was incredibly overrated because her first fight was for teh vacant and new UFC women's 135 belt and they literally only signed people who they knew she would be able to beat and that's why she was so dominant. When she actually had to fight legit top fighters she didn't just get exposed, she got badly exposed! And that's the issue with pushing these fighters and giving them favourable match ups because the people who don't get that will always be better!
She also ducked and has protected from what would of been the biggest fights ever because she and the UFC knew she would lose. It was a marketing push! She wasn't one of the best fighters, not even close and that was proven!

Gracie's done the first UFC to advertise BJJ to the world and they wasn't going to do that with him losing. Ronda was the advertisment of woman's fighting on a mainstream scale and they wasn't going to do that by giving her tough fights. That's why she has no legit wins. But to be a d*ck and say she’s overrated is a crime. Especially since that division was SMACK brand new and of course the talent wasn’t the greatest. Just like when the UFC first started. If you say you are a true MMA fan/historian you MUST give Ronda hell that whole women’s division back in 12’-15’ credit for holding something that wasn’t certain up for years.

How can a fighter be overrated when the only losses she has is to a former boxing champion and two time(I believe) UFC champion and to a woman who is largely considered to be the female GOAT of MMA? She didn't get beat by scrubs she got beat by fellow champions and hall of famers. And let's be honest, part of the reason she lost is because of the subpar coaching she was receiving. Ronda was Ronda largely because of her Judo. If Ronda had a better coach who knows if she would've ever loss. But Ronda is loyal and stuck with him even when she probably should've moved on. And each new generation that comes out is far more technical and advanced than the previous one. There is only a very few fighters that were around prior to UFC 100 that can still hold their own with the new blood. Jon Jones is the only one that comes to mind ( steroids or not). He debuted in 2008 and I think UFC 100 was like 2009 or 2010. I low-key knew Ronda was all hype just like I knew Conor McGregor was mostly hype. There was a reason Dana was keeping Ronda from cyborg. Anybody with any ounce of common sense could see that Ronda would get wrecked if she fought cyborg. When I saw highlights of Holly Holmes before she fought Rousey. I said to myself. Ronda is in trouble. It's no different than with Conor. I wish I had screen shot my comment when Nate called out Conor. Because I broke that fight down damn near perfect. I said Nate had the chin to overcome Conor's onslaught. I knew this because Nate beat Melvin Gullard (who also had insane ko power) the same way he beat Conor years prior. Conor dominated 145 because he was bigger than everybody else in the division. When he went to light and welterweight He got exposed. Eddie Alvarez was the perfect opponent for Conor. But even if he defended the title. Conor was ultimately going to lose it. Even khamzat chimaev, who I'm actually big on, got exposed a tad bit. Most of these hyped fighters get exposed one way or another. It's almost like hype stocks. When people are hyping up a stock. I tend to short it..

      I agree.
Khabib is way more skilled than Rousey is. I'm not claiming in the slightest that their on the same skill level. My point is on the "one trick pony" statement where people choose to diss her coz she won mostly with an armbar but rarely diss khabib winning with mostly takedowns.
Ronda was clearly not really the best in her division (holly and Nunez). Unlike Khabib who cleared out his division. But how many champions have cleared out their division and do we get to say they aren't deserving to be called the best, at least for the time being because they haven't cleared out the division? - I get there's extra credit that goes with clearing out a division, bit if you make it to being a champ and stay there while having remarkable wins can we at least say you're good?
Or maybe you can discredit that by saying "that division was new" or "that roster was less talented" and "she couldn't possibly hang these days". Fair statement, but hoist Gracie and Randy couture were having success at a time were MMA was "new", hoist btw was a "one trick pony" and you can confidently say about both men that "they couldn't possibly hang today". The loss destroyed her as a fighter and she never recovered mentally until she took on the fight with Nunes where she got retired.
