The Common Projects Achilles Low have become a staple in my wardrobe. They seem to be a controversial piece in men's fashion as many people debate that plain, leather sneakers are not worth a price tag this high.
The Common Projects feature their signature gold stamping with the first four digits being the model number, the next two being the size, and the last four being the color code. With their soft yet durable Italian leather upper and vulcanized, hand stitched, Margom cup soles, these sneakers are not only elegant but ready to take a beating. The suede lining the inside of the heel helps prevent heel slippage and is a welcome feature with no-show socks. The sleek silhouette and narrow toe cap are something that have tried to be replicated by competitors many times but have proven unsuccessful.

@@asim i know man, its crazy how I'm somehow okay with buying a 3-400 dollar pair of shoes just because they are a tiny bit more streamlined and have gold numbers haha. A younger version of myself wouldn't consider it but I'm dreaming about the CP. Quality of the video is sooo good man!

It’s a watch from a company called Undone. It’s a vintage looking watch but without the vintage maintenance. Nothing too fancy but I love it!

The chinos are the new 250 Chinos from J Crew. I have larger legs but they fit really well on the thighs and tapered off nicely towards the ankles. My favorite fit they make at the moment.

Hi, you should definitely make more youtube videos! I just bought my first pair of Common Projects. Whats your opinion on the black/white (7547) pair?
The black and white is super nice but I just can’t seem to get myself to wear a black pair of sneakers over white. Completely personal preference so I don’t want to deter you from the purchase as they’re a super clean pair that will go with everything!
The 7547 pair is also versatile and looks good with the black upper and white sole as compared to the complete black model.

Umm I would say so! It’s been a nice alternative to the white ones but I definitely wear the whites more. If you have a white pair, opt for the slightly darker grey color so you get more difference.

We returned them and got her a EU 36 and they should be a perfect fit after a few wears. Let me know if you need anymore help.

What is the meaning of minimal sneakers? How they are different from normal sneakers. Can you tell??
Minimal sneakers are ones that have very little branding and paneling. They focus on the silhouette and the quality of the materials. Think these Common Projects versus a white Nike Air Force 1. Hope that helps!

How comfy are they for the gym? My go to shoes for the gym and just anywhere are stan smiths or converse. Looking to see if these are an upgrade or not.
You can’t really beat a pair of athletics shoes for the gym like Nike or Adidas. These get the job done if you’re in a pinch but probably not recommended for strictly gym use
I'm buying nicer shoe trees for my new pair and old pairs. The ikea ones are alright but yours look really well preserved.
Grab the ones at Nordstrom rack, I think they’re made from woodlore too just a touch cheaper. I’d also sand them once the smell wears off to get it going again

Just a awesome video for presenting a sneaker. We both have exact the same size. I‘m wearing a 9.5 US also. In the video you said, that you bought the grey ones in 41 but they cost you a while to break in. The other pair is in 42. My question: Would you prefer a 41 or a 42 if you buy the next pairs? I‘m a little bit afraid that they get too loose over time. Thx! Keep up the good work!
Appreciate it! I would def go with the 42. They have stretched but not so much so that they fall off. I can easily tie the laces a bit tighter to get them right where i want them!

Hey, did you get blisters on your heel when you first started wearing them? I figure it can just be not breaking in but I thought it could it be slightly too big since I'm usually a 9.5 in Nike and I got a EU 42 for the CP.
I think I did on the size 41s I had but none in the size 42. Sizing up might be a good move!

How on earth did you keep the grey and tan to crease free and clean
Honestly, shoe trees right after I’m done wearing them. The grey seem to hide creases and scuffs well. The tan pair was fairly new then and have creased more now. The leather is very soft on that pair so it was expected.

The heels weren’t so bad but I got awful foot pain with the 41s and trying to break it in. That’s partly my fault since the 42 was perfect right out of the box and required very minimal break in.

I see that you have a pair of 42 and 41. Which one fits better? I tried both, the 41 is too small, but the 42 is a bit big. Do you think the 41 will break in and eventually fit?
The 41 is really tight on the sides, while the 42 is a perfect on the sides, but just a bit loose
I had the same issue. The 41 was too small and the 42 was slightly big. The 41s were fine after a few months of wear and shoe trees to stretch them out. They’re wearable but they still get uncomfortable if you have to walk a lot. If I were to do it again I’d just go with the 42 to avoid the pain all together. They’re comfortable right out of the box!
@@jackyliu1496 I've had exact the same issue. I went with the 42. My advice: Take a pair of shoes that fits very well and walk ca. 3km in the afternoon or evening. Then put on the CP. THis will simplify your decision.
I have multiple pairs of cp and they are fantastic, very high quality shoes. However i bought almost all of them through discounts/ poshmark / ebay etc for much lower prices. The current prices are too steep

It seems you have some space on the 42 on the back of your heel right? Or fit they better than 41?
Maybe like 1cm but an easy sacrifice compared to the pain of having to break in the 41s

I wear a 9.5 in most sizes as well but have average feet and a size 42 fits me perfectly. The leather will stretch with wear and shoe trees. See if you can try on a pair in person, if not order it from a place with a good exchange policy!
I just asked a friend who has wider feet and he also wears a 42 so you should be fine. Might take a few wears to break in though.

Not sure if this was just for me but the break in period for these was PAINFUL lol. Lots of blood sweat and tears but it’s worth it once they’re finally worn in. The Koio’s are extremely similar and the break in period is much much more painless. Just something to consider gents 👌🏻
I had the same issue with the 41 size I had but the 42s were much more manageable to break in. My KOIOs were much easier!

I said they were worth it at a price with a 2 in front ($200-299) as they frequently go on sale for that much. I’d draw the line at $300 though.

Are you a 9.5 in Nike’s only airforce one in a 9 right ? You have the same problem as I am 42 is a little bit big on me though 😅
With these I would rather slightly big than slightly big that too tight. The 41s were a pain for so long
I'm US 11, so size 44. But the 44s are too long.. And the 43s are a slightly tight on the sides.
These tend to run narrow and long. I speak with experience when I say you’d rather them too long than too tight. Painful experience haha
@@asim yeah that's what's making it confusing for me. The 43 is not right enough that it's "Painful" but I can feel some tightness. If the 44s weren't so long I might just get them.
If they aren’t uncomfortable but slightly tight then stick with those. They will stretch overtime and fit perfectly. I recommend some shoe trees as well
Cheaper alternatives that use the same sole, near quality leather for 40% less than CPs, although if you can get these a little North of $200 then definitely a good deal.

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t spend $300+ on the considering how frequently they’re available in the $200s.

Koio is a better brand. I have both, and I keep reaching for the Koio a lot more, plus it doesn’t have that ugly gold foil.
