I have seen reactors say that they have punk, jazz, metal, prog rock, 70s and 80s rock and more, and I just type "that's Band-Maid having fun".
Akane and Liliac's Abagail are tied for the worlds most happiest drummer ! both of their smiles just light up the stage and are totally infectious!
BAND MAID is doing BAND MAID. You're right. They don't care about genres such as rock and metal. The latest album is beginning to have a progressive side and a jazz side. The violent movement and static changes add a unique flavor to their songs. They improve their playing ability and only want the coolness they think.

'Never the same song twice'! That is part of why we love them. There are good bands today, but none of the others have more than four songs once you listen to them, most only have two.
And I agree; you can watch them as they grow and push themselves to be better. In their latest (that I have heard) all five members are doing something that they have never done in performance before.

I finally worked it out, after many years of listening to them.....
They have killer Vocals ....Saiki
A gorilla for a drummer (their words, not mine) ....Akane
A true lead guitarist.... always twiddling with something..... and a great songwriter .... Kanami
.....now comes the revelation....
A bass player who thinks that she is co-lead guitarist .....MISA
and a Rhythm guitarist who also does the job of the bassist.. in that she plays the "Glue" of the song. Miku's playing allows MISA to do what she does. .... and then we have Miku's lyrics....
They are just a great band.

This live version is fairly close to the original recording. The performance really shows how good they are at playing it live. Sometimes they sound even better live.

One thing I did like better in the MV: in the second part of the "Don't hide your emotions" chorus, Saiki's voice seems sharper and more piercing (in a good way), while still sounding gentle and melodic (don't ask me how that happened, as it seems impossible and an oxymoron, but it did); no knock on the live, it's just EXTREMELY difficult to pull that tone off anyway, and much harder in a live setting.

This ladies are so talented since i hook in2015 i was amaze by the traNsition.... the mix of genres in a son plus riff i just listen while jaw drop... i never heard such composition ...this ladies deserve in a hall of fame.... come on people pay attention music structure of each song

The May 10 concert at a live music venue was abruptly changed to an online concert with no audience.
This disappointed many of the "otaku" in Japan who had won tickets in the lottery.
As MAIDIACS around the world know, the band's studio recordings are only samples, and the best performances are always found in the latest live concerts.
And the overwhelmingly loud and seismic sea of bass that is live music can only be experienced at a concert venue.
The ticket prices for their concerts are not cheap, but I have never found them to be expensive.
If I were asked to pay 30,000 yen ($300) to see a concert in the front row, I would buy a ticket.
This video was made online as a replacement for the cancelled Budokan concert in February, and it shows just how good the band is at playing live.
I hope the day will come soon when fans all over the world can enjoy the concert in real life and not online.

MISA said that when she receives a demo from KANAMI, she first creates some baselines. First, choose the one that matches the song, and second, choose the most difficult line. She said she never chooses the easy way. And AKANE said. '' When KANAMI asked me what the fastest tempo you could hit and I answered ''180 tempo max''. The next day, I got a 190 tempo demo from KANAMI !!
They '' Always Challenging'' to next level. That's why I love BAND-MAID.
Let's just call it "Maid Metal" and let them grow and amaze us.
Saiki's voice has to me a little more grittiness to it than the album.

I think this was written as the intro music for a Japanese action tv show. It was adapted by Kanami from something she already had on her computer! What goes on in that young woman's mind I dare not think.
No smoke and mirrors here, just Band Maid doing Band Maid things! The new label is putting lyrics in English on the new videos. New online concert coming on May 10th! We need live music back, especially from Band Maid! Band Maid is their own genre!

This is certainly a band where "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts: which is quite the statement since each part is such an incredible talent. And then you have the live version. Akane is certainly having the time of her life in this video.

About the meaning of the song: Compare the subtitles and this performance with the official original video with the piles of symbolism in it.
They speak of how they felt under previous tightly controlled conditions versus their individuality and ambitions. "Please save me." But they had to save themselves. Hard nosing the negotiating table. Little pigeon is a lot tougher than first appearance.
They now have a proven track record of gaining popularity and sales, and much more autonomy. The video of Thrill online and the reaction of music fans kicked that off.
In the official video, big expensive but AGING MODELS OF US and UK luxury cars (Cadillac and Jaguar) are in a race. For a time, Band-Maid is precariously on that ride. But they do get off it, and the cars (music industry mega powers) ultimately crash and burn.
These are the old models of the music business, at least in Japan: based on outdated US/UK examples, and heavily authoritarian/controlling. Korean music is much the same or more so.
But check the lyrics. Applause - the reaction of the audience - should drive decisions, and it is the artists themselves who are there relating with the audience who understand that.
They know what works musically and artistically. They know what their fans like. They don't need arbitrary direction from some business major in an office.
Old models are big, expensive, authoritarian, and suffocating to true artists.
The new models are agile, use modern tools to get around the need for large facilities most of the time, and use social media and other Internet resources to get a response from the music buying public and do streaming concerts and build their own home studios when they can (Kanami is doing this) and a host of other things the suits with mahogany desks never dreamed of. On a budget.
Creating their own options. Allowing the artistic expression of their own feelings. Hence the Warning. Learn from and respect the true artists, or crash and burn. Your choice.
(After Life also has similar ideas embedded in it. Their frustration with where they found themselves, compared with their eventual After Life as more independent artists.)

I hope they keep releasing live performances of their new songs, particularly "No god", "I still seek revenge" and "Giovanni." And you can tell in the video that they miss playing in front of their fans.

I love this band and enjoy them all. The vocals on the recorded albums really showcase Saiki, but Akane live is god-tier.

You have hit the nail on the head--every song is different, and there are no duds. Best rock band since the Beatles. That sounds like a crazy thing to say, but I'll stand by it. There are individual musicians out there who are more technical, but that was also true of the Beatles--none of them were the best in the world at their instruments. But no one ever approached their creativity in songwriting or their ability to translate it perfectly. Band-Maid are getting close.

The 'Like' you have earned from me even before the actual reaction with the explanation for what you like and respect the ladies and their music! 🤘🏻 For me, these are exactly the same points for which I appreciate them so much and for which I have learned to love them, even before I actually realized it. I am also very curious where the journey of these girls will lead them, because I also have the feeling that they have not yet reached the end of their possibilities and creativity.
Somehow I am now thinking about what to call their music. 'Maid-Rock' or 'Maid-Metal' somehow doesn't sound suitable to my ears and would put them in one of the two categories again. Hmm... 🤔

small example of the way of thinking in this band: MISA said in an interview that she is working hard to improve her playing technique, she sees a lot of room for improvement ....... I say she is already on "Jedi" level I don't know how to continue with Band Maid, I think MIKU's dream will come true "World Domination ...... po .... !!!!"

The thing with "Thrill" is it wasn't one of their songs, yes they played it, but it was given to them and told to play it. It was back when they where controlled by the music label. Whereas this one it's all them. It's not really until the 4th album can you start to compare the song writing.
But yes you are correct they have matured more, also it was back when Miku was still really learning to play.
Although I was re-reading an interview and it seems like they had a surprising amount of input even on their pre-"Alone" tracks.
Them having input on the earlier songs and learning from professional song writers, I think is why all the songs old and new are Band Maid songs at heart.

This was the first song of a show that ran almost two hours. Band-Maid can jump out of the gate with this, so they're wonderful of course. As for the production, I think they chose better camera shots for this release compared to the live stream, and I'm pretty sure we can hear Kanami a little better, but the vocals do seem a little low to me.
You can tell with this song and with “about Us” that they’ve remixed the sound and changed up the camera edits. It’s all for the best - it would be unfair to charge Blu-ray prices for internet-stream quality sound.
@@SLKRR There was definitely some post-production done for the video. The first couple songs of the live were a bit out of mix. The sound engineers got it smoothed out by the third song.

Very entertaining reaction and so much on the point!
The pandemic actually meant more work, study and practice for Band Maid who had the immense merit to hold online concerts for the pleasure of their fans. Their ethics are the base of their constant progress, and if I may say so, they have barely reached adulthood (mind you they are all 30 now except for "young" Saiki!)!
Actually I remember my Judo teacher pointing out that in your 20's you should have fun, in your 30's you should study, and only in your 40's will you achieve your potential!
Well, you have been warned! LOL

You have reacted to the music video to this song and you have not mentioned it at all in your numerous ramblings. That speaks volumes about your 'love' of Band Maid.
Unfortunately, the sound engineer wasn't paying attention with the drums. The bass drum and the Toms have no punch at all and are too quiet.
They can actually do that better at live gigs.

So gotta point out this should be titled as review and react as this is a song you already reacted to when the MV was released.
There's something slightly off-putting about how the mix sounds, and I can't quite say what it is. The song "About us" from the same concert sounded great, but this one sounds different to me. Anyone else feel the same or am I crazy?
It was the first song of the live stream, maybe the the sound wasn't 100% dialed in yet. Also only their second live performance in months and first time preforming this song live, might of been a bit nervous. The still did amazing as usual though.

I thought is sounded nice and crunchy. Than again, I like their raw unprocessed live sound too.

How is it possible that reactor channels averaging 2-4K views per channel are reporting 30-plus K views for “Bandmaid”, a group of average-skilled musicians strumming along to recorded music during a live performance?
How is it possible that reactor channels averaging 50-80 comments are reporting 500 comments for Bandmaid, containing ridiculous claims for average musicians in maid costumes, who never improvise live and whom multiple eyewitnesses swear are not playing their instruments?

On a serious note: the people whose money you are taking, by lying to them, hire attorneys. (Attorneys are highly educated people who study criminal behavior.) They don’t think it’s right for people to lie.
Most of us shy away from dishonest behavior because it feels wrong, and we would not want anyone to do that to us.
