How to Design Blur Text Effect | Photoshop Tutorial

I'm super grateful that I could learn this amazing effect from Poster Grind. He's a professional poster designer for Hollywood and the guy got some mad skills. The tutorial is more elaborated but tried to keep it simple.

i'm not able to use the field blur option on the smart object. it's greyed out along with the iris blur and tilt-shift options. any way i could fix this?

I’m having issue when I apply the filter gallery the stamp stamp effect, when I apply the stamp my text disappear… what am I doing wrong?
