CC 07 he didnt council member wasnt a rank. He is still a knight council memebers were just highly respected masters of the order. But no one agreed to put anakin in the council so he didnt have the respect of the masters.

@@cc0767 Yeah they all agreed to have him there but they didn't respected him as their equal. They probably would just allow him to hear the meetings and speak some of his thoughts but he was far inexperienced and emotionally unstable to actually have some power in the decisions of the council.

After the clone wars Anakin was the most experienced Jedi in the order, with the most experience in actually engaging real Sith and also the only one in thousands of years to defeat one. The council was just fucking jealous and inable to guide him at all.
@@cc0767 I probably wouldn't say that they were jealous of Anakin but that their views were different. I believe that the council required that to be master you should most of all be in the "status quo" of the order. He was far from that. He had a wife, was really emotionally instable, was inpulsive and all other sort of things that wasn't the jedi way. He proved to them that he wasn't ready to be one just through the way that he reacted when they rejected him as a master. Yeah he was a great fighter and was strong with the force but the council probably value more following their code to the heart and beeing one with the light side of the force. Anakin was just not that and he could never be too, he was the chosen one to bring balance to the force not to side with just one aspect of the force.

The whole "You're on the council but we don't grant you the rank of master" thing was pretty dumb, especially since council members outrank other master's.
I believe being a Council Member was more as a position (just like Battlemaster, Chief Librarian, etc.) than a rank. Only Masters were allowed to access the most restrictive holocrons and Anakin was outraged because he thought he would become a "Master" and be able to learn how to save Padme. If Council Member was a "rank", and higher than Master, he would be able to access them due to being higher in rank than a Master. Which he could not because it isn't actually a rank.
The guy had the mental stability of a 17 year old. You don´t see Yoda or Qui Gon acting like that, he wasn´t ready.

I'm still not 100% sure it was a "mistake" as Ahsoka originally put it. Pretty sure Yoda or Obi-Wan put Ahsoka in his hands.

Confide Bonafide Yeah! If you fail the knighting trials, and you don’t want to try again, you become “Jedi”. You can retake the trials later, but you can’t take apprentices or become a master. It’s kind of like a middle ground between Padawan and Knight!

There is another rank in EU that is exceptionally rare: the Barsen'thor, The Warden of the Jedi Order. Their duties were never precisely described, but based on the name, it can be assumed that their duties involve maintaining the well-being of the council, and the Jedi way of life as a whole. Only three jedi have been recorded as Barsen'thor.

A Padawan braid was a type of braid worn by Jedi Padawans who were of species that grew hair on their heads, although some hairless Padawans fashioned braids out of silka beads and other materials.

What about Jedi Temple Guards? Are they just Jedi Knights?
They’re more of like a class a Jedi. Like how most Jedi in the order are either a consular( a Jedi who heavily focuses their study on the force) or a Guardian( a Jedi who acts as a peace keeper and focuses on combat) the Temple guards were merely a class of their own and I imagine most were likely Jedi Knights and they likely had a master of their ranks. This is what I believe if I am wrong though let me know.

There was another way for jedi to reach the rank of master without having to train multiple padawans they took a more heavily modified version of the trials though very few went this route but if I'm not mistaken one jedi by the name das jennir did this and became a master sooner than most jedi knights normally would

Johann Guchte the article you’re referencing is discussing only Jedi council members thus it could be inferred that it’s talking about the most senior council member, though I take your point it could be interpreted either way
I have watched a few videos about Anakin not being given the rank of master and the main reason for him being pissed off is because he couldn't get acess to the secret archives. So my question is with him being a council member and a council member out ranking a master then why could he not get acess to the secret archives?
If I remember correctly palpatine was the one that forced the council to give anakin a seat so technically I don't believe the council really recognized him as being part of them

Never realized Grandmaster and Master of the Order are separate. I always thought they were different terms for the same position.
I could be wrong but I'm under the impression that they were separate in legends but they are one and the same in the new canon.
Then I guess my that logic Yoda would be Master of the Order, Mace is Grandmaster, Kenobi an others are Council Master members and Anakin is one the few Knights so high up there the only way he can any higher is to become a recognized Master.

You didn't explain that the initiates who don't become a padawan get sent to the other side of the Galaxy to live their days as a farmer and never get a real lightsaber and are left with only their practice one and the dream of what could have been.
Since all the jedi hopefuls are essentially adopted by this monk temple and then when they don't pan out they aren't sent to the family, they are instead sent to a farm to harvest crops forever and are essentially slaves without the bad stuff just kind of "forced" into this job and are left with no way to get back and are essentially banned from any jedi contact.
Look at it like this.
If the jedi are training like the marine corps and some people can't finish boot camp, whoever doesn't gets dropped off at a potato farm and is hired as a farmer.
At this farm in the middle of nowhere (off planet across the Galaxy), no money (because you've never needed it) all resources cut off and no home to go back to.
Meanwhile they set you up with a job on the place where they abandoned you that also provides lodging.
What are these poor kids supposed to do. The only option they are left with is to work and live there then get paid pennies over time. Also the only time people come to this planet is to pick up crops and drop off more failed jedi academy students.
And guess who takes out their frustration for being abandoned on this farm planet on theses newbs who haven't realized they're being kicked out yet.
The cycle continues. They can't afford to leave and no ships are providing public transportation.
How come no one ever talks about or makes videos covering this topic.
There needed to be a rank of Superior Jedi Nomad who no longer requires the orders structure and must go out unto the galaxy to protect innocents, proselytize the way of the jedi, and find the path to better connection with the force.

The rank and role of Master of the Order actually explains why Yoda seems to slightly defer to Mace Windu regarding Anakin being tested in Episode I. Remember that it is Yoda that looks to Mace Windu and it is Mace Windu who decides to allow Anakin to be brought before them to be tested.

I didn't know about the Master of the Order rank until today. Personally I'd want to be a Jedi Knight only because I consider myself a better learner and practitioner then teacher. While I could potentially teach a few Padawans, ultimately I know there'd be better and more accomplished teachers then me. Though it's quite impressive that the Jedi Order seems to value above all else, the ability to teach others about both the mysteries of The Force and the ways of the Jedi Order. The Order appears to consider teaching to be one of the greatest and most important skills a Jedi can possess. Teaching and training Initiates and Padawans is what allows you to become a Jedi Master and it's your only path if you want to someday sit on The Council.
It's both funny and ironic that it's the complete opposite with the Sith 😋
I never thought of council member as an actual rank.
I appreciate "The Stupendous Wave's" list for the different ranks in the Jedi, but are not there more...?? There are members who sit on the lower councils, the Battle Master, the Jedi service corps, Jedi Shadows, and probably several other odd jobs within the organization? Probably those ranks fall under these 7 ranks, I might surmise some person replying back to me on this question.
I think I'd like to be a Jedi Knight. I'd totally wait until i had some experience under my belt, before i could manage a padawan (like 20 years).
get myself a padawan . train my padawan . Keep on fighting battles.
Once my padawan is all grown up, I'd maybe do some more fighting, may be take on more dangerous missions. Do it until i get so banged up, that I have to leave the battlefield for good.
Then either have me made some kind of Jedi Poetry Professor. Or, if my brain is fried from all the fighting, put me in the Jedi Nursing Home. There I'll be happy as hell using the Force to move all the furniture out of the way so The Jedi Wheel Chair / Hospital Bed Jousting Tournament can begin !
Probably with light sabers and members of the all- Jawa nursing staff as shields.

Well if you mean canonically, it’s just master and apprentice. In The Old Republic era, however, based around the KOTOR games and the MMO, it goes like this: Acolyte-Apprentice-Lord-Darth-Dark Council Member (still referred to as Darth)-The Emperor
Keep in mind most sith if they are above acolyte are often referred to as “my lord,” which has no resemblance to rank, just a matter of respect and deference

In SWTOR, there is the rank of Jedi Battlemaster, the leading combat strategist and tactician of the Jedi Order. The Jedi Knight character achieves this rank after completing the Shadow of Revan story arc if I remember correctly.

@mikedabuc Actually Sentinel's are a rank as well because they work outside of the temple and learn other skills that normal Jedi do not such as slicing and engineering, temple guards are a rank and a position because their identity is completely secret so they would be referred to as a Temple Guard not a Jedi Knight

This video is contradictory,one of the things said here is that to be a Jedi Master someone had to train several apprentices but Obi wan Kenobi trained only Anakin and was considered and addressed as "Master Kenobi".
André D'Freitas - I think that was the general rule- however a Jedi knight could also be granted the title of master for extraordinary achievements and feats- Obi wan had many of those - including being the first jedi to defeat a sith in ages.

Great vid. Two rsnks mentioned in Legends but confirmed by cannon that you missed are Jedi Councilor and the Jedi Battle Master. The Councilors were the diplomatic branch of the Jedi and can be argued that is more of a role than a rank. Qui-Gon Jinn was the best example. These Jedi carry Green lighsabers and are powerful with the Force. Jedi Battle Master (Cin Dralig) was responsible for teaching all Jedi combat and lightsaber forms.
If all of the Jedi council needs to agree on someone becoming a Jedi master, how did Luke become a master?

@@jamesritter2383 Idk, I could very well be wrong, I'm kinda new to Star Wars, but As Yoda died he said that Luke's training was incomplete, so no way he was a master before Yoda died.
Yoda, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon probably just made Luke a master jedi as force spirits 🤷♂️

I can think of three more that this guy missed. There is one between initiate and padawan. initiates don't have light sabers, so when they get one, I imagine the rank up and then are allowed to be taken as an apprentice. Also there is the one of the temple guards, as they are also slightly force sensitive. And then there is one more, and that is a high-council member, which outranks regular council member.

That's not a rank though. That's a job/position. I would assume they are knights that take on a job close to home instead of out fighting (kinda like army/national guard maybe?) But ya while bad ass, it's not a rank
No Jedi temple guardians are a rank above all they are the most skilled and powerful because they guard sacred texts. You see anakin choking one and fighting another with one hand. They answer to only themselves that’s how strong they are.

There are three, the Master, the Apprentice and the Jar Jar.
KegorianRune Just some I know from memory could be Sith Apprentice, Sith Warrior, Sith Assassin, Sith Lord, and Sith Master. Sith Apprentice would be Starkiller or Savage, Sith Warrior would be Darth Malgus, Sith Assassin would be Ventress, Sith Lord would be Maul, Dooku, or Vader, and Sith Master would be Sidious.
Jedi councilman was not a a separate rank as that was more times than not a limited time position as only two seats that were lifetime positions. Case in point Dooku was once on the council but wasn't any longer around the of TPM

@@josephpa05 yes but Obi Wan wasn't a Master he was Only Knighted, plus Cannon is so more messed up than Legends because in Legends there were Multiple Knights that had far Greater Careers as a Jedi Knight or Padwans than Obi Wan had even taking on far more Sith and still weren't Masters in Legends it sometimes took some people Decades to be even Knighted the movies made it seem to easy
The only ranks here are initiate / padawan/ knight/ master/ grand master. The rest you listed are just jobs within the order.
