Today, at Quanta Laser Labs, we’re going to talk about the 1064 Nd YAG laser for laser hair removal. The 1064 Nd YAG laser is an incredibly versatile laser wavelength and you can do a lot of different treatments with it. We are going to focus on laser hair removal on darker skin types.

We talked in our earlier series about how the 755 is the ideal wavelength for lighter skin patients. The 1064 is the perfect complement to the 755 Alexandrite because you can treat darker patients, which is really the skin types four through six, which are going to include Asians, Hispanic and Latinos, African Americans, Pacific Islanders, and really any person who’s going to have a darker skin type, including Caucasian skin that’s been tanned in the summertime.

When you are looking at adding hair removal to your practice, the 1064 wavelength is an incredibly key piece to be able to treat patients year-round and be able to treat all sorts of patients. Like I said, the 1064 is incredibly versatile as well. You can do wrinkle treatments, you can do face and leg vein treatments and we’ll talk about some of these other application for the 1064 in our other series. But, understand that as you’re looking at adding a hair removal device to your aesthetic center, you really ought to consider a 1064 to be able to treat all skin types.
