      Agree 110%
      In Scotland I passed an unmarked police car over 100 in a 50mph.
      By the time they caught up they clocked me at 84 in the 50.
      He asked me to sit in the car and had shown me the video. They did say I can contest it at court.
      I said no point I was an idiot and you caught me. The policeman smiled and said we will say it had been dry conditions, minimum traffic (it wasn't) and I had control of my bike.
      Fact was they could have taken my license and didn't even at 84mph I should have lost my license.
      Point of the story is shut up and take what they say and they are decent.
      I had been 40 at the time. Since then I ride safely. I'm happy to sit in traffic while it's flowing. I filter if the traffic is slower and I ride just a little faster on the outside.
      I know someone who run under a heavy goods vehicle trailor, they found his head in his helmet. A family friend died after a woman cut in front while he filtered at speed. Two younger riders have died locally on straight roads.
      Simply no point in riding like an arse on public roads.
      I'd point out our police use what looks like a boy racers car, one you wouldn't look twice at.
      They were driving a blacked out Audi S3 black alloys and looked lowered, thought this car is trying to catch up until I seen the lights 😁
      Love the channel Dan.
      Do you ship the first aid kit to Scotland at all

    Cop is absolutely spot on, just look over the pond, getting a motorcycle licence has got increasingly difficult over the years in attempt to reduce the number of fatalities involving bikes. I did my test in the UK in the 80's - just as easy to get a car licence as a bike licence, I did both a day apart.

    • @V4demon_
      @V4demon_ Před rokem

      I just did mine in the UK a few months ago now, and it seemed like never-ending testing with the mod1, mod2, theory. Like the HGV licence I did years ago. Now, though, I've heard they might do away with the mod1 now!? And in the HGV test, apparently, you don't have to do the reversing manoeuvre! Like 50% of what I do in the wagon is going backwards!

    • @TheLiamis

      The statistics speak for themselves. The system in the uk reduced incidents by a huge amount.

    • @alfiep98
      @alfiep98 Před rokem

      @@TheLiamis now 90% of bike crashes that lead to fatalities are from people on125cc bikes that have been hit. I honestly think we should do away with the CBT, keep it to something like doing your A2 License when you have 3 years driving experience or something like that, because at least then you have some on road experience before sticking a death trap between your legs. But back to the original point, 40-125cc bikes just prove to be more dangerous for riders because they don't have the power to get them out of sticky situations. Atleast any 125cc I've ridden, that's been the case

      @krazykittyharleygal Před rokem

      Yeah I did the motorcycle test in the '80s as well. After a week 9f training with Star Riders I was ready for the test. My radar was up and road awareness amplified. All 4oad users should be given a bike test before a car. That would reduce the crazies out there somewhat.

      In Australia you have to have your Ls for a year before opens, and another 2 years before you can go over the learner approved power bikes. If you do a 2 day safety course, you cut that first Ls year down to 90 days. Pretty reliable for making sure every single new rider does the safety course.

    Let's take a look at this particular sergeant. He's an older fella, a sergeant in the CHP, and a moto-officer. Which, if you've ever seen the training they go through, lets us know that he's absolutely among the best riders alive. He works the high-speed interstates of California. I'm pretty sure his years on the force are double digits. How many motorcycle fatality accidents do you think he works every year? I'd just about bet he's seen the worst of the worst. How many times has he had to be the one to tell the parents of a super over-aggressive, and under experienced rider, that their son or daughter won't be coming home anymore? I'm pretty sure that he would much rather pull a biker over and chew his ass out rather than scraping him or her off 150 feet of jersey wall and the inside shoulder of the interstate. Best example of a great cop passionately doing his job EVER!

  • @mattmansarizona8868
    @mattmansarizona8868 Před rokem +10

    I feel like a lot of these accidents are caused by one thing. "If a car can't do it, why can you?" The mentality with that question is why there's a lot of accidents. The bike is usually in a place that no one else in traffic would expect them to be. So why would anyone be looking for you? On the shoulder, in the tiny gap to catch the light, in whatever scenario it may be. Is that a normal traffic maneuver? Would anyone be expecting someone to potentially be there? Probably not. Ride safe.

    • @oldcowbb

      But years pass and ONE idiot on a Gixxer and 200 decibel non-exhaust blasts past me on the highway in traffic at 127mph, what do I think: "Damn, all these ASSHOLE pos bikers, man!"
      It's not fair, but then again most of human nature isn't.

    • @Cheesus-Sliced
      @Cheesus-Sliced Před rokem

      This is exactly why it's better to verge filter than lane filter, and lane filtering is best done in slow or stationary traffic. Verge filtering gives you one single active lane to watch, and traffic stopped at intersections are completely stationary so you just need to look for ideally indicators and people that want to nudge into the next lane or specifically intentionally block you.

I pulled over and waited ten miles up the road. The cop came by and stopped, he ask why I stopped. I told him he gave my buddy a ticket so I figured I would stop, wait and take a ticket also. The cop told me he knew who I was and was not going to chase me since he knew where I lived. He gave me a ticket for 70 in a 55. He showed me the video and made a point to show me that while I was running that fast my tires were about half an inch off the road. I had no idea there was no rubber touching the road. I changed my riding habbits after that. Now I hate to go over 65. Be careful out there and ride safely.

Then I walked us off of the paved shoulder and a few feet into the grass. I made it a point to position myself so that I was looking upstream for approaching vehicles (although I would not have objected if the officer had wanted to be the one looking upstream - just as long as one of us is keeping an eye out). Kept my hands folded in front of me while we talked, asked permission before reaching anywhere for license/reg/insurance. That CHP stop was right at my normal freeway on ramp for my daily commute ride @ I-14 & Newhall Ave. just North/East of the I-5 interchange.
    Dude was lucky. It's legal to split here, and sure, we all exceed the speed limit in California at times, but It's a stupid bad spot to carry that crazy amount of speed. So many people coming onto the freeway uphill and slow, and everyone trying to merge or split out onto three different routes across at least seven lanes. Exactly the same place where that Harley rider road rage kicked the car and caused another innocent driver to flip over a few years ago.

    I'm a motorcyclist, and I'm glad "Lane Filtering" is illegal here. I hate it myself. Being from a state that doesn't allow it, the first time I went to a state that did, I want to slam right into that person. All it does is piss people off because they think they can do 50+ mph between slow moving rush hour traffic and get mad at anyone who calls them out on it.

    Cops are also the guys that have to tell your loved ones why you didn't come home.
    A lot of people don't think how that would affect the cops.
    And how they respond when they pull you over.

    I totally understand staying calm in those situations with other road users, and that you shouldn't take it personally, but i'll admit sometimes i do take it personally. Like tradesmen's utes who don't have their load secure and their ladder comes flying off the back. luckily i was paying attention and left a lot of space between him and myself.
    It's a very hard concept to put into practise but something that i work on every day, every ride.

    Cars can't lane filter, motorcycles can in a lot of states. But in most cases that does stand, most of the time if a car can't you can't but not every law

    As far as that kid getting pulled over? I'd NEVER ride like that, flying past other cars! I'd never even lane split. Even at low speeds. It's just not safe! Cagers sometimes do stupid things while driving and maybe even while you're lane splitting! I just do not want to put myself in that position...

    i like to check on your vids time to time, nice reminders
    tho you could up by a notch your scale on the office background scene, the proportions aint right you look way to small (the scaling effect from perspective doesnt apply such a large modification from your scale sitting on the chairs we can see than you sitting behind the thing where you talk - sorry not english native - so you could take the chairs as a element to find the right scale (from the size of your back next to one chair) then do just a little scale down for your actual position)
    thanks for the content
