Hey Dan! I’m the guy that smacked the mailbox on the cbr , we were riding not even being stupid and I looked at my buddy cause he was having some issues with his bike and I was making sure he’s keeping up at the same time a dog ran into traffic and everyone slammed on their brakes. Worst luck 😂 but I am fine I did get some scrapes and and a mild concussion and I was released from hospital same day. Only thing I personally remember is riding then next thing I know is I’m on the ground talking to police and EMS. You were absolutely correct I was absolutely gone and had no idea what happened. I was wearing a Sedici strada 2.

    • @wibblywobblyidiotvision
      @wibblywobblyidiotvision Před rokem

@@flk1331 Yeah, just checked after finding a clearer image of some GS500e km/h dials. He came into the 30kph zone at an indicated ~105km/h, so 3.5 times the speed limit. He ran between the 2 vehicles at 60km/h, twice the speed limit (although he was admittedly still hard on the brakes and came out the other side at 40). I used to ride as a courier in London, getting around fast was how you made money, but riding like he does in town is going to cost you your life, or worse, someone else's.
At the point Vladislavs points out, he's doing 120km/h, but it's an open road and liable to be limited to 90 or 100km/h, I have far less of a problem with that even if it's limited to 50 (which is possible in Portugal) as the major risk is only to himself.

Looking at what you are going to hit or run off onto rather than where you want to actually go. If you find your self going too fast in a corner don't panic and freeze up. Look through the corner and lean some more. Your bike and tyres are far better than you imagine and certainly more capable than most of us.

I took my first spin on the twisties today. Here in Colorado, im not going slow but im not going that fast, i misjudged the angle of a turn and got VERY close to the guard rail, the gravel right there was frightening. My fingers reached for the brake but i remembered in time that slamming on this brake at 30, on gravel, mid-turn was not the play. Gave it some more angle and got a little bit of engine braking and i was fine. The whole thing was only maybe 3 seconds but it was the longest 3 seconds ive had in a while. I wasnt riding well, there was nothing skillful about it, but im glad ive been binge watching videos like these and that o spent a few weeks practicing before going up the canyon, because i know day 5 i would've 100% crashed in that situation.
Not panicking saved be from either very serious injuries or likely death, because there wasnt a whole lot on the other side of that rail.
About an hour long ride, this happened right at the beginning, and the rest of it beautiful and im so happy that i never felt like getting off my bike. All in all im glad for the lesson and i hope that never happens again lol

I should make a few videos about push\pull steering... People get intimidated because they don't trust the weight of the bike... The push is for a hard left, the pull is for a hard right (because the throttle is on the right)... Your bike can take sand if you are going in a straight line (even during a turn).. It's sharp movements that cause spills especially high sides...
This is great stuff though... I'm going on 10 years on two wheels only and I've learned a lot... Mostly on a bike it's what NOT to do... NEVER PANIC... Keep a light grip and SLOW DOWN... Most good bikes can travel in 3rd gear on surface streets...

A friend of mine died 20 years ago from hitting wet leaves on a country road, sliding off the road and crushed his chest against a mailbox post in NC. He was 30.

There is no dampner on a motorcycle. Mechanical bits that dissipate energy are called DAMPERS. They DAMP or remove energy from the system, just like that doohickey on your screen door.
The only "dampeners" you'll find on a ride are dark clouds.

The previous weeks before my last wreck, i had been shopping for a new helmet (the one i had decided on but not yet purchased, had loops to pull the cheek pads out in an emergency). During my wreck i slammed my head on the concrete, and was mostly coherent while lying on the ground. But when EMS showed up i kept telling the medics to pull the loops to remove my helmet easier. The helmet i was wearing didnt have them.
Point of the story…If the downed rider is sayin shit that doesnt make sense, make them go to the hospital lol even if they say “im fine”

Steering Dampers - Help prevent the speed wobbles. they do not however COMPLETELY PREVENT it from happening. Depending on your speed of travel and the force of the object or undulation in the roadway this can still happen 100%. They will however Dampen the effects helping to prevent the possibility of total tank slapper situation, not going 150+ on not so smooth highways, are a better more guaranteed way to prevent them, but still not 100% effective.

Something not being mentioned here for consideration is just the road itself. In one video the road seems to disappear, but if you look at the tree line and the direction it turns it tells you which way the road will turn, and approximately how fast. On the same video you can also see that the maintenance condition at the shoulder has been poor, allowing the grass and soil to enter into the actual lane. That has to be planned for. On one of the last videos where he has multiple cars in the right lane on a divided roadway with a divider between directions, just get in the left lane if you are thru traffic and there are no vehicles attempting to pass. That way you don' t have to worry as much about what the cars pulling out are going to do (most drivers do have some degree of awareness, or they would already be pushing up daisies) and you don't have to concern yourself on which way you'll need to go when they pull out. Yes, I do realize that we ride amidst idiots, but most people have their act together.

Red car to my right a block away at 25mph and has a stop sign, I'm turning left from a stop. No issues. Next corner I'm going to turn right so turn my blinker to right as soon as I get on road, look in my rear view. It's a bit close, but I'm slowing down to turn. Next thing I know, little red car whips past me on my RIGHT!. And yells at ME. In orange/red in that moment I straighten up and go straight no contact made. Missed my turn (no big deal, just take the next one). I checked, yup, had turn signal on as my friends freak out way more than I did. They don't ride. Wasn't mad, just kinda WTF. My friends though? They had road rage for me n I just chuckled. They were telling me I should go after them etc... just said "at the end of the day, I'm fine and they are still bigger than me, don't want to trigger their road rage. 🙃

Very often we see these side of the vehicle incidents where there would be no issue if we were travelling at an appropriate speed for the condition i.e a junction in a built up area.

i think Yout videos are grate to show what we shoud not do on a bike and how to reakt in spezial situations ... but .... for Example 16:15 You explain greate what he shoud do .. but You ignore the major foult ... 1. at 16:14 the Biker had a speed of 50 km/h and the Car startet to change lanes ... good to this point ... 16:25 they passed the speed Limit sign of 70 km/H .. Biker 61 km/h .. still ok .. 16:31 the car is still halfway on the left lane .. Biker reached 76km/h 6km over speed limit and maybe in the Blind spot of the mirror of the car ... and 16:49 Biker way over speed Limit at 90km/h still behind the rear weel of the car and maybe within the blind spot .. and the car change his mind to change lanes because of the Truck on the right lane ... so for me and i am myself a Biker .... Stay within the speed limit !! and everybody knows .. if there is a truck in the right lane .. cars will change to the left lane ... so within a town dont exeed the Speed limit !! and check what is in front of You ... there are enough Dangers out there for Bikers without we doing everything to provoke this !!

16:00 The bike rider..didn’t do “a great job”, these statements only encourages the bad behaviours, bad habits…and it’s not necessary.
How bout, defensive driving, and wait for the vehicle ahead to fully vacate the lane, driver still had care and control of the lane…rider just should’ve waited for the completed on change…the vast majority of these riders you present..are idiots…driving like, morons and well beyond their talent….ignorant, dangerous riding that’s giving all riders a bad name….how one rider can get themselves in so many dangerous situations…you have to ask, wonder is it the cars, everyday normal traffic situations …or is it the riders excessive speeds, riding style or generally using public roads/hwy as their race track 🤔
As a rider myself, I certainly understand the rush…but the miles I’ve put on over 30+ years quarter million miles+ of riding…I see many…not all but the vast majority of these ..all preventable by the rider.
Imho, as riders we should be calling it out when we see bad behaviour..not excuse it…as it just encourages other riders to keep the bad habits.

At 9:00 you say there has to be concent? Tell that bs to myrtle beach paramedics. I went down to the hotel front desk to find out where the nearest shop was for some aloe lotion and ibuprofen for a sunburn. They (the front desk) insisted to have paramedics come check me out. Once they (the paramedics came), I refused to go with them. I just wanted some aloe and pain meds. The paramedics told me quote: " you either come with us, or we call the police and they force you to come with us". I was like WTF is this BS?! Needless to say when I got the ambulance and hospital bills, I refused to pay as it was technically kidnapping and they'd be lucky if I don't file a lawsuit. Got a letter about 30 days later saying my balance was zero. That shit pissed me right off. However, kinda glad after I got to the hospital. Got a nice dose of dilauded and IV fluids, and sent home with a big bottle of hydrocodone.

When you go 3+ it’s really easy for the monkey brain to take over and make real bad decisions, and even if you resist it chances are the guy/gal behind you has been negatively afflicted.
