I apologize upfront for the length of the video... sorry. Also, just so you know, the Cast Iron Wednesday challenge for March is “stew”... not just beef stew. Thanks for watching, and if this your first time watching my channel, consider subscribing. Most of my videos are not this long, but I’m usually outside doing something. Thanks for watching!
- Chris
Carolina Chris Outdoors please don’t apologize
Calvin's Corner72 - Thanks Brother... I know some people don’t have time to watch longer vids, but I sure appreciate those who make time to watch ‘em! 😉
That was so good, Chris, that I'm watching for the third time, trying for no interruptions. ;)
thank, you criss. it's, all good we, all have things to do in life. 👍
Every once and a while you need to do a long one!
One of the best videos you ever did. I love these long videos you make. Thanks
Calvin's Corner72 - Thanks Calvin!!!! 👍🏻
I learned how to bake bread in a dutch oven over a campfire. I know how to bake bread at home, was taught when a little boy, made all kinds of bread at home. But learning how to bake campfire dutch oven bread is golden key skill. So, If you were out in the wild for days ...or SHTF, making bread opens a lot more things you can stock up, like PB&J , sandwiches, SOS. etc. So hunkering down in your camp baking a loaf of bread a day, gives a good chore,. There is a huge variety of foods you can stock and store. If SHTF, you wont have fresh bread at the store, you wont be able to get to the store, so you can make tuna salad, chicken salad, ham salad, grilled cheese, SOS, so many things you can prep and stock up when you know you can bake bread...even in the deep woods over a campfire.
That is a great skill to have 👍🏻
Sean is the Cast Iron King! Good looking stew, and great news that stump is producing. Those stews can be thirst provoking. Great video Chris!
Your Old Pal Fernbark - stump season is getting here late this year.... and I don’t think it’s gonna last very long. We haven’t had a Winter yet, and Spring is almost here!
@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors That reminds me. I need to show Dave how to hunt stumps.
@@YourOldPalFernbark LOL.
Outstanding cook out there in the woods. Nice set up and addition to cast iron Wednesday. The horseshoe hanger looks sweet. Good shoutouts. Shawn kills it with the cast iron good stuff. Cheers Chris.
Survival Mindset - Thanks Justin. Sean definitely comes up with some unique menus!
For sure, I thought that mountain house meal was going to land in the fire when you threw it. I have a few of those stumps around my way. Thanks for sharing
NewEnglandFish - I’m glad it didn’t burn up.... dang things are expensive! Ha ha ha!
Looks delicious... Going to do a beef stew next Wednesday.. weather permitting.. (maybe I can get a Texas Pete holster made by then)...hahahaha Great job Chris
Plain 'Ole Chuck - Ha! I hope you make yourself a hot sauce sheath/holster! I made that one a couple months ago... it comes in handy!
By god Chris, I was horrified for a minute, i thought that was a Bud Light 😅
Cheers and good cooking.,
When Bud L’s show up in those woods I’ll be looking for a new camping spot 🍺
I couldn't help but laugh When I saw him unclip hot sauce from his belt loop lol😂😂
Flint and steel fire warms your soul. Was it the meat, or Carolina Chris that was marinating in bourbon and Pepsi for two days? Stew sure looked good.. Lots of gravy to sop up with bread or dumplings or biscuits. Thank you for the fantastic shout-outs, Chris, and for sharing your Cast Iron Wednesday recipe with us.
As always great looking meal thanks for taking us along.
Anyone can flick a Bic! Ain't no fun in that.
Excellent camp stew Sir... Looked just fine to me!
Triumph Screen Printing - Thanks Brandon... I must say the beef stew was pretty good, and it was even better the next day!
looks a brilliant setting .
Good looking camp set up nestled in the South Carolina pines. kick back , relax and let the stew cook. Life is good. Sounds like your neighbors are exercising a little good old American freedom . God bless America. Good stuff ! Cheers.
Yes Sir! It’s fun hanging out at my little camp in the piney woods.... Everybody around there shoots!!! I do too, but don’t show it too much in my videos since the YTube police don’t care for firearms.
Nothing better than camp cooking brother. Low and slow brings all the flavors together don't it?
Take care,
Rob
The swing out tea pot hanger is ingenious. I am on the same page with you, coffee comes first of all.
Thanks for watching and commenting Jojo! Yes.... coffee is a priority everyday!
What an epic adventure brother. You're not only an artist but a damn fine cook. Love your Texas Petes holster haha good ol beer stump producing some goodness again. I need to get me a dutch oven... maybe one of these days
Another awesome video. I have a couple of dutch ovens.. it's so fun to cook in them.. i need a campfire set-up like that. thanks for sharing Chris.
No need to apologize for the length of your video. I enjoyed the whole thing. The stew looked good, I liked your Texas Pete quick draw holster, and your horse shoe pot hanger. Thanks again for taking us along!
Perfect setting for some homemade Beef Stew and a brew. Glad the stump is still producing. Thanks for sharing Chris.
Dave's Diversions - Dang, I wish I would’ve said something like a “Stew and a Brew”... that’s pretty catchy!!! Cheers Dave 🍺👍🏻

That was like a shake and bake bag, nice. But dang Chris, my mouth is already watering and you haven't even started cooking yet. LMAO, return fire, they're coming for your stew!!! And the Texas Pete Sheath was the best I'm crackin up right now 😂😂😂
Great video, Chris. And great job on the homemade cast iron gear. The Beef Stew looked very good! I'd like to start using my Dutch oven again on camping trips. It's been quite a few years since I have. I usually think about it in the Fall and Winter. 👍

I really dig your homemade tool and cookware items.

Thanks for stepping up and doing this & showing us your beef stew....or stew....
I love your camp, Brother!
Sean is the king...for real!!! Quite the chef in cast iron! And always been there every Wednesday
🍳😀👍🏼 CastIronCrew cooking stew at camp!!

Dang....I gotta go stump hunting
You jumped on that challenge fast. Great video, excellent. Looked like great stew. I plan to make a stew this month. Thanks and take care Chris.
Thanks for taking us out with you Chris, what a beautiful day for it.
awesome Chris very tasty for sure. it was a great Cast iron Wednesday. i like your horseshoe pot hanger. i got a small horseshoe around somewhere, it keeps the pot from sliding around. that's cool fire pit gear you made up there. take care
Smellin good!
Great video Chris, even the length. I like Sean's cast iron Wednesday. He makes some delicious looking meals and desserts. Nice carrying case for the hot sauce. Handy stump you have there. Stew looked excellent, go for the gusto and add the entire can of tomato sauce. Thanks for sharing brother 👍
Hahahahaha. You cracked me up with that mountain house meal. Lol

Very nice to see you Chris!!!! Great video Bro!!!!!
Hi T.B. Thanks for checking in! Merry Christmas!
Mighty fine looking stew Chris! I'm a Pete fan as well, sometimes just Louisiana, but usually gravitate towards Pete. Enjoyed this one.
Gonna have to get in on some of the C-I Wednesdays. As you know I like outdoors and Dutch cooking. Think it could be fun to be a part of.....
Anyways, really enjoyed this one. ATB to ya!
Heck yeah Man! You need to cook some kind of stew, any kind.... check out the links in my description box for other “Cast Iron Wednesday” folks.
That beef stew looked Awsome! I am from SC upstate & i collect cast iron cookware. I also cook in it every chance i get. I have several pieces that are very old.
Cool! I’m in the Upstate too. Thanks for watching... and commenting!
Nice,. Nothing like dutch oven stew. Hey, I need to get one of those hollow beer stumps.
Those stumps are nice to have! Thanks for watching!!! 🍺👍🏻
Love the sheath for the hot sauce I'm going to have to make me one of those nice.
HA! Thanks Darrell... I get quite a few comments about that sheath! Waitresses love it when I go to a restaurant with it. My wife doesn’t think it’s very cool, but she doesn’t like hot sauce!😂 Thanks for watching!!!
Great video brother! I love your camp! Been watching these stew videos and boy oh boy they all looked so delicious! Thanks for sharing this my friend!
I'm watching this because I made some beef stew today. I must have said the word 'stew' a couple of times and poof!!... A couple of videos on beef stew come up in my feed. I love outdoor cooking as well, so I naturally clicked on this video. Interesting recipe. I might give'r a whirl next time round.
I had a discussion about hearing aids with my Mother In Law……… next thing you know, all I see is hearing aid commercials!!! Thanks for watching!
We laugh at that kind of stuff but it really isn’t funny at all. I’ll leave it at that
Way to go Chris !!! love the throw back videos I missed , keep em commin.
Ha! Thanks Steve..... temperatures need to cool off a bit.... very hot here right now! 🤣👍🏻
@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors same here , not as hot as where youvarw but miserable, I ready for Fall !!!!
Watching an older video that popped up. Great looking stew.
Thanks for watching Michael! It’s beef stew cookin’ weather again!!!! 👍🏻
The stick with the tiny y brach is brilliant for a lid mover. Love the video.
Thank you Joseph... I appreciate that!
Howdy Chris- great video brother. The stew looks good and the fire pit and camp are awesome! It’s a lot of fun cooking outdoors with cast iron. Food just seems to taste better. God bless y’all

Cool video. Nice camp. I prefer the longer videos.
- Thanks Shane. I appreciate ya hanging out for a while. I surely like hanging out there..... I hope I can slide out there for a quick squirrel hunt in the morning!
I really like your cooking set up Chris. Looked like you had a great time in the outdoors.
Boy that stew looked great. Awesome CIW Chris.
Solid video. Great content for the community. Excellent adventure thanks for bringing us along
Hi Chris. Dandy looking stew you cooked up there. I thought you were really doing the Mountain House one first. 🥺 Nice flint striker and lighting a fire that way is more fun. The cooking racks you made are pretty awesome looking. The camp is really coming along. Soon you won't want to leave it. The camera gear your "film crew" uses is getting to be in rough shape. A Texas Pete holster....that is a first! Good to see the beer stump producing at the right time. I had some luck with my hunting last week. Video coming out this weekend. ......Take care, Mike
Sean’s cool despite being Canadian! Joking buddy. Good job with the cooking, I like the Pepsi bourbon marinade, I’d like to try that one both on food and in a glass!
Kewl . . . YOU ~ ROCK ! !
-thank you 😁
Great job there Chris , that stew is awesome. You made enough for home later too. Thumbs up to that cast iron goodness
This is the first video I’ve seen from you, and I like it so far! Beef stew is a personal favorite of mine, and I’ll have to try the Pepsi and bourbon marinade. Usually I like to make a sauce with the fond, and most people use red wine, but I find that Guinness works really well for beef stew. Anyways, I’m looking forward to more from you!
Thank you for watching and for the nice comments.... I hope you get a chance to check out a few more videos in the future!
Not sure how I missed your channel. Just subscribed though so I won’t miss it now.
Chris, great video. Your videos are always a joy to watch. Your Texas Pete holster is surly a one of a kind. That part was so funny.
well now Chris thats some good video right there keep them coming buddy and God bless you my friend
I really like your setup, a home away from home. Also you are pretty organized which helps a lot. I don’t know if it’s me or not but you are like a blood hound when it comes to finding beer in tree trunks. haha. For me, stew is good anytime of the day, a man’s man meal. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
Chris, I missed this one a few years back, but absolutely admire your open-fire cooking "stuff", as you referred to your kit. Looks like it serves your needs well, my friend. Oh yeah, the stew looked yummy, too!
Thanks Tommy! Better late than never, huh? 😂 I hope things are going good for y’all up there!
Man I really dig the horse shoe hook that holds the bale on the vertical piece. Nice touch
Thanks! It works pretty good, and was easy to make. Appreciate you watching and commenting 👍
Great vid Chris.
I was thinking as the mountain house was flying towards what looked like the fire, dang, theres about $10 up in smoke.
Then, the stump. I was thinking about what a bear does in the woods more than a beer in the woods.
Whenever I see Texas Pete I think of you Chris.....nice holster for it!! You know....you can add anything to a stew. This one is delicious bud! Glad to see you got your priorities right at the end!!
I'm glad i watched this at supper time............Thumbs Up
I'm going to have to spend some time with these cast iron masters you speak of.
Looked real good. Lots of leftovers.
I picked up a Dutch oven recently, can't wait to try it out!
Coffee press!!!!
34 degrees .... Chilli, no Beef Stew 😊😊
oh man those beef chunks delicious, 11:31 epic camp shot , yes Sean is the cast Iron King 🤴
that is a vintage phone Chris 😅😊
man , love the set up , the meal looks amazing , Texas PETE !!!! can't wait for a new one ! 😊❤
nice video, looks good
Thanks! I sure appreciate you watching and commenting on my Dutch Oven video!
you know we use two love cast iron pots but i tell ya after using some of these newer pots and pan sets like gsi ware they all nest together we got rid of them and never looked back.. plus it was nice two not worry about the darn thing,, nothing worse than ending up some ware and having a rusty inside...cool video
