- This solo camp cooking trip takes me into the Australian bush of the Vic High Country.
For my solo camp cooking trip, i have cooked all of my meals over the coals of the campfire.
I setup camp beside a beautiful Vic High Country mountain stream.
I enjoy Solo camping it's a great experience, its just you, the birds and your environment as your entertainment.
Being out in the Australian bush on your own and cooking the meals that you take to be cooked on the campfire is a great way of getting back to basics and a very simple life.
Solo camping needs to be experienced to really understand whats it's like.
After you have been on one enjoyable solo camp cooking trip, you might find yourself wanting more of this simple way of life.
Solo camping is the best way to solve the worlds problems
Absolutely it is mate.
It's amazing what you can think about when camping solo.
Thanks for your reply mate.

Tim, thats exactly how I do it. People say to me but what do you do out there? My answer is I cook, have a few beers, walk, listen and just sit and take in the scenery. Love you channel mate.
Gday Ben,
Yeah some people just don’t understand why you would go camping on your own.
It can be some of the most relaxing camping trips you will ever go on.

Honestly Tim good work on all your videos mate, so nice to see your still sticking to your guns with a simple and basic camping set up mate and watching your channel to me personally represents why most aussies got into camping a long time ago, all the other junk floating around online in my opinion is all the same with just over the top modified cars and accessories and just flat out plugging sponsors! But we need to work to afford a 4WD 😁
Tim mate all this brings back so much memory from 60 years ago when I first started work at age 14 for 6 guineas a month as a billy boy and general camp raus-a-about for fencing contractors under the tutorage of old bill. This was ex-army tent camping in the range country that produced the best narrow leafed Iron Bark fence posts and the best cooking fires. Old Bill was a grumpy old bugger and if he saw me doing what you did making the tea Tim I'd get a No9 where the sun doesn't shine. First thing immediately the billy was rolling boiled I'd have to chuck in the tea leaves, if I waited, then I'd get the boot, then take it off the fire while it was still rolling boiled and swing it 3 times clockwise. Heaven forbid if he caught me swinging it anti clock wise like you did Tim or 4 times even which he reckoned made the tea too strong. He wouldn't let me use the cast iron camp ovens until I learnt how to cook dampers in the ashes. Only then did I graduate to cast camp ovens the same as yours. No strawberry fly bog (as jam was known) in those days, it was cockie's joy - Golden Syrup. If ants ever got into the tin of Golden Syrup, all hell would break loose. Every 2nd day the boss cockie would drop off a leg of lamb that old Bill would turn into a really tasty stew. Of course it was my job to peel the vegies and cut up the meat after receiving old Bill's "education". Funny thing was even though old Bill saw considerable action during WWII first in North Africa then Kokoda where he coped a Japanese bullet through his left ear lob. He always reckoned the Japs couldn't shoot straight as the bastard who shot him joined his ancestors. However old bill never learnt to tell the time. He told the time around the camp by the calls of the birds. He reckoned the birds always knew when it was tucker time and changed their calls to suit. Days never to return, but god was life simple. I know I miss it!! Thanks for doing this video Tim much appreciated mate.👍👍👍💯
Absolutely loved it, great watch, cheers tim

Fabulous enjoyable video. Can almost smell the campfire and feel its warmth and smell the simple tasty cooking….First class use of resources and no unnecessary fancy frills…
G'day mate,
Campfire cooking is the best. I really enjoy cooking on the campfire.
It's amazing what you can cook up with a simple setup.
Thanks for your feedback.
Cheers Tim
I’m with ya. Solo camping is the best very empowering being in the bush alone at night. Even go for a walk naked in the dark with nothing but a head torch. Turn the torch off, and stand in the pitch black alone. Take a deep breath of air and slowly let any fears in your mind come to rest. When you no longer feel vulnerable and at ease, that’s when one feels confident and at one with Aussie bush.
Gday mate,
Yes, solo camping is an amazing experience if you are set up for it, and you can handle your own company while out in the bush.
I’ll be looking forward to my next solo camping trip.
Cheers Tim.
Fantastic Tim. Just smashing mate.

Hi Tim, this was the video I was looking for and have now subscribed to, as I am retiring soon and going traveling for 4 months on my own, good to see simple cooking meals, love my bacon and egg sanga's, but now I know how to make a damper, was taught as a youngster but forgotten until now, Thanks mate 😎😎😎 I will be watching a lot of your videos now.
G'day Warren,
Mate, simple cooking can make the best meals.
I find it's the way to go.
Bacon and eggs on the camp fire, you can go past it to start the day.
Thanks mate for your feedback, i really appreciate it.
Cheers Tim
Great video, thank you, very informative and very entertaining. One point I found very amusing is when he makes his tea in the morning he swings his brew around obviously to “ brew” the tea , then promptly stirs it with a handy stick found laying on the floor, this must add to the refined flavour! Please keep the videos coming Tim, you really hit the spot, Thanks.
G'day Bill,
Yeah mate, the good ol bush stick adds a bit of flavour. Lol Just a quick stir does the job.
Thanks mate for your feedback, i greatly appreciate it.

Lovely serene life out solo camping. Nothing like bacon and eggs with a steaming, strong cup of Joe in the cold fresh mornings to get you warm from the insides. Love it mate.
Gday mate,
Yeah you can’t beat a hot bacon n egg sandwich with a hot cupa to get a cold morning started.
Top campsite.
Thanks for your reply mate.
Cheers Tim.
Love your content mate. Honestly, some of the best bush cooking on CZcams and some fantastic setup tips. Hope you don’t mind but the miso and I started a drinking game while we watch u cooking. One sip for “have a go at that” two for “how good is that” and 3 for “let’s get into it”. Love it mate, keep it up!
Gday mate,
Thanks mate. I do enjoy my bush cooking. Tastes amazing.
Haha lol
I hope you didn’t end up having to many drinks. Lol
I’ll make sure I double those sayings in other videos. Haha lol.
Thanks heaps for your feedback and reply.

gday mate your brekkie cooks bring back memories of daily morning tea with my dad on many demo jobs he had all over Sydney an open fire in the front yards using bits of Oregon and hardwood from the scrap pile at 7.30 in morning a couple bricks and corrogated tin or an old oven grill to sit the Billy and pan on and a scraper as an egg flip , the old man cooked up brekkie for the demo team and the Billy bowl was always a treat to watch , I've seen close calls from blokes had never done it before. lol thanks for the memory
G'day mate,
Sounds like you had some great times with your dad growing up. You cant beat cooking brekky up on the campfire, it's just the best.
Thanks a lot mate for your reply.
