    Superior-medial Breast Reduction Explanation | Greer Plastic Surgery | Cleveland, OH
    Learn how Dr. Greer does superior-medial breast reduction in playdough! The nipple stays attached for this technique, so sensation and ability to breastfeed are maintained. Dr. Greer is demonstrating on the right breast.
    Breast reduction makes the breast smaller while lifting it and reducing the size of the areola. It can help with back pain, neck pain, tension headaches, and skin irritation under the breasts and where the bra strap rests on the shoulder.
    Interested in seeing if you are a good candidate for a breast reduction? Contact Dr. Greer for a consultation on our website, or call us!

    I’m getting a reduction soon and wanted a better understanding of the process, but the prospect of seeing the visual of a real one happening freaked me out. This was super helpful for helping me understand without that concern. Thanks so much for making this!

    In Canada breast reductions due to non cosmetic reasons are free/ covered by universal health care. In the past the surgeons would not remove the tissue that extends under the arm, focusing only on what youve just shown. Now i looked it up and the new regs and the plastic surgeons agree the axilla lobe is necessary for the breast reduction, BUT the patient must pay for lipsuction costs of that, and health insurance will cover the breast reduction of the main breast. So this "new" requirement returns reduction to out of reach cost wise for many women.

    • @Partymarty0088
      @Partymarty0088 Před měsícem

      Is that just in Canada? Not the cost per say, but that additional procedure?

    • @joywebster2678
      @joywebster2678 Před měsícem

      @Partymarty0088 the American paid for procedure involved both procedures for a complete breast reduction. I worked in USA and Canada. I was suggested for one in USA and knew both parts were involved, but my health insurance there didn't cover it. On return to Canada I investigated it, and found they only did the breast, leaving g rne axillary or wings full of fat and tissue. So now they agree its a necessary part, but the liposuction component to the axillary will not be health insurance covered. So yes its less than the USA, but still defies universal Healthcare for a needed, not cosmetic surgery.

      @@joywebster2678 funny because they will perform auxiliary breast surgery in Canada but only for covered cosmetic procedures like breast reconstruction after cancer.

      Hey glad that your surgery went well and that you’re satisfied. I just wanted to ask if you know wether this surgery would possibly affect breastfeeding in the future, and wether there’s scars after it. Thank you !

    • @katherineheasley6196
      @katherineheasley6196 Před 10 měsíci

      @@zinebabouhadid303 it can affect breastfeeding, though this surgery type seeks to keep the nipple connected to the underlying tissues. I'm very happy with my results. I do have scars, but they're very faint. I have a really good skin type for healing scars, though. Overall, I'm really glad I had the surgery.
