- Many of you guys have asked why I switched from Nikon after 7 years to Canon! Basically it all came down to how much I loved Canon colors and I just had to make the switch. It's also so so so much more convenient for me now that I've been using Canon for a while. But in this video I go more into depth about the practical and not so practical reasons why I switched!

I know right!
Lol
😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀
Yeah that's right! Cannon rocks!
LMAO I'm dead
I met up with some photographers over the weekend and they told me that Nikon seems to complicated for them.. more like preference for me. Started with Nikon and think I will stick with Nikon. If I starred with Canon I would have sticked with Canon.
I thought it's okay to switch to the brand whatever you like, as a photographer we should see that our eyes are more special than the camera brand itself.
I'm looking to the Fan Ho work, a street photographer from 1963 in china. and the work is incredible.
No Autofocus, No LCD screen, No Memory Card (Limitation because using film), and a lot of limitations compared to the photographer nowadays.
All about light, patterns, moment, shadow and highlight. even in black and white, but the pictures already so dramatic, if you guys didn't know his work check it out.
and for Becca, your work is amazing with whatever camera you have in your hand. because I believe what makes it happen is your mindset and your repetition experience.
have fun with your new tools, it's worth it if it makes you easier in your work.
Choose a camera brand is like choosing a religion, nothing bad or good, but what we prefer the most.
Happy shooting everyone ;)
Hi Becca, I just wanted to let you know that you had a couple of BTS photo shoots on this channel that all of a sudden got removed when you moved the channel to wedding films more than wedding photo’s. I do understand the focus to just one domain although these video’s were pure gold.. like the one with the dog.. and a few others. You were and still are I’m sure the most talented natural photographers I had ever seen.. so smooth and effortless. They made me subscribe in a sec.. I looked around to see if you had moved them to another channel but I think you didn’t. I’m still glad I got to see them and hope you might consider putting them back up one day. Your natural flair and giggle just inspired me so much. I would even pay for these ☺️ Keep up the great work both of you 👌👍👍 and keep yourselves safe these days!!!
Subbed..Love the reasons why you switched..loved the video. Now it's 2020 have you guys have the chance to play with the EOS R. I see a trend happening in late 2019 quite a few and also well know photogs are switching to canon mostly from sony when a year ago everyone was bashing it.
I am especially curious about that size thing. Can you please tell if all the quality settings were the same, resolution and sensor size? Double seems suspicious...it's a lot. Anyone has light on this?
This video is so interesting to me because I prefer Nikon colours and lenses and appreciate the file sizes. I’ve shot both and I prefer Nikon hands down. Also, Nikon has a Nikon Professional Services that is essentially the same service as the Canon version for those curious.
I know some people who also prefer Nikon colors! Definitely just whatever you prefer! And thanks for clarifying! I wasn't sure if Nikon had a professional services. We didn't want to have to pay for two separate services so another convenient option now that I've switched.
@@CannonWeddings Makes total sense for your situation! I guess there's a reason why both brands are successful :)
Dayna Shanele at 8:50 she drops the bomb - she’s been shooting with Sigma glass on Nikon so it’s not really a pure Nikon vs Canon experience, but glad the Canon’s treating you well. There’s plenty of solid cameras out there.. after all my iPhone 11 Pro is now my primary shooter!
I actually agree. I used to do shootouts with my d7100 vs a 7D and we always agreed that both looked great, but the Nikon always had slightly better colors when compared raw with the canon.
Nikon color are way better for outside, wild life, landscape and Asian and African skin tones and dynamic range is better on them as well + 64ISO.
The Canon color is really beautiful. I'm currently a Nikon shooter, but previously with Canon. I feel Canon works better under the complex artificial-lighting situation like those green, red, magenta etc. The white balance is better on Canon.
I love the Canon colors too. I’ve edited Nikon photos and I find the colors on them just tad on the cooler side, canon is more warmer , just tad cozier. And now I understand why Nikon users NEED two card slots and whining about Canon only having one ....the file size. Thanks for sharing
Nope, you didn't. They like to have the 2nd card as a BACKUP, so you don't get screwed in case the first one fails (it happens).
Where did you get your leather camera harness?
Shooting DSLR with 3rd party lenses is always a mixed experience. Many times it back or frontfocus. But nowadays with those mirrorless cameras there are no problems using Sigma lenses for example. Had huge problems with sigma 35mm 1.4 on my 5d mark iv while on my EOS-R is nails focus every time because it uses the sensor for focus :) You could use live view on 5d though but its pretty slow.
Exactly my experience. Not only with Sigma (35 and 50) , but also with some Canon lenses (135 f/2 for example). The on-sensor af, and the touch-and-drag and the eye af are the main (and for me, the only) reasons to go mirrorless. So much more keepers now.
>why I switched from Nikon to Canon
Traitor! 😂
Nikon gang 4 lyfe! 😎
What happen to your behind the scene photoshoot? Was it deleted?
What Canon body do you use?
I used 60d before canon are good colour in their LCD but when i view them in my MacBook pro using LR or AcR looks different but in Nikon side is colour is very more appealing to me only contrast i adjust on the camera settings
Ok the r5 is out have you thought about switching to the r5
Are your picture as sharp as what the Nikon does I’m thinking of switching to Nikon from canon
I just switched yesterday!
Great video. Love the Canon lenses. I would still be Canon if they had upgraded the 7D Mark II to the Mark III. Now I am rocking the Nikon D500 and D750. Love the Nikon D810/850 but yes the files are huge. Rumor has it they will update the D750 to the D760 next year to have the D500 / D850 type controls. So it will be like a mini D850 at 24MP. Probably more autofocus points more spread out than the D750. Probably less than the D850. My fingers are crossed. My savings account for the Canon 7D Mark III has enough money in it for something new next year. If not a D760 then the D850.
A Nikon D780 is the D750 Replacement
Welcome to Canon girl! It's such a good switch to make. I love my Canon babies! Get the 85 1.4 it's incredible!
yesss! I love it! I have the 85 1.8! I love it for what I need it for but I don't use it super often!
CPS and NPS (yes, Nikon does it too) are awesome!
Which 4 lens are best canon which i use
How come the file size is different with equivalent megapixel RAW files? Is it some kind of file process difference?
That didn't make sense, I have canon and nikon ad the size was not consistent for either brand and the difference in size is so small it made no impact storage wise. Working with both systems for a years I will say that if you are looking at a hybrid camera for video, canon has you covered with their dual pixel af and even cinema lenses if you are into big productions. For still Nikon takes the cake. Colors are just preference and in this day and age most people don't even set the profiles on their cameras probably dont even know what that is, they just color correct in lightroom later. Both are great (unless you want to to video then go canon) if you wanted to share batteries and lenses a better explanation could have been my husband liked canon more so he convinced me to switch. Again both are great and it was a good fun video.
Smaller files aren’t as large....I’d be interested in knowing which Nikon cameras you used and which Canon you now use and what the size settings comparison is.
Canon also has compressed RAW (cRAW) that is even smaller and the image quality difference is basically unnoticeable. The only time you really notice a difference if you're shooting in super high ISO and it's not so much an image quality difference, but the noise just looks a little different. If I didn't tell you which was which, you'd just think they both look bad, but they look bad in different ways if that makes sense.
i can only like colors and rendition on the canon. when i use them i prefer the handling of nikon, when u get the shots, the color can be optimised
What camera body did you switch from; and what body did you switch to?
I had the Nikon D750 and 810 and switched to Canon 5D mark 3 and 4
But the sizes of the files, it depends on the megapixels and the quality you use, it does't depend on the brand of the camera... am I wrong?
Cannon is for Canon,we cant deny it!Besides it’s easy to promote Canon if you’re Cannon!lol.Kidding aside.Congats!Welcome to Canon ecosystem.
I had a Nikon d750 great camera but just super overwhelming using it! Return it thinking Sony or canon so got a canon still learning it but it makes now!
I'm a canon shooter too. Started with it and never left. I am looking at what full frame canon to get. What camera did you get when you switched to canon and what lenses do you use for portraits?
The colors? I run Canon colors on my D300. You can make custom profiles for Nikon cameras and use 99 custom profiles if you want. So I basically have a film set, Canon set, Fuji set, and Sony set.
You may want to switch to 12bit raw (compressed* or lossless compressed)
You'd need to zoom in 1000% to tell a difference especially if you're editing in a 16bit workspace and prints won't show a difference unless you have a ton of color depth that only your eyes can see.
Workflow, I setup profiles to convert color science automatically.
The only legit reason here is that your team uses Canon making everyone more efficient. Also using this form of video to build your channel. Good business move.
Whoa, I need to look into this. What cool information.
Can you make a video tutorial for us to learn how you do it?
You make Canon colour style on nikon. And canon user already have it. So which is better? Ha ha
I'm noticing that the arguments are very similar to the reason why people switch from Samsung to iphone. Can you explain exactly how the colors are different? Are the colors better for every photography style including B&W photography? Just curious about some more information into the technical details for canon superiority.
Personally, I have a specific shot/framing/color/focus in mind before I ever click the shutter and Nikon creates a foundation for me to achieve that picture exactly the way I visualize it through the viewfinder and in my mind before I take the picture.
Nikon photos are much better than canon. Dynamic range is so much better on Nikon.
Nikon budget cameras are so much better though and I can afford that rn but I feel when you get into to more expensive side canon cameras are better
it doesnt suprise me when people are switching to another brand instead of telling how good the new brand is they are allways start with how bad the other was, that is a great advantiges for the switch and the new brand
Low light camera performance for Canon is crucial for me
Right move esp with the name
Wait, people switch to Canon from other brands?
I am using Nikon and Canon, certainly Canon autofocus system is much better and sharper than Nikon, especially portraits. Canon colour science is great.
M Nikon d750 user bt like the skin tone of canon
I cannot blame you lol, Canon always surprises you. just look at my vlogs if you like Canon :)
well obviously lot people really use canon cause it like not expensive buying new lenses and stuff on the matter unlike nikon who is likely a beast of prize but a good investment aswell, just depend on how you afford to buy canon or nikon though, always personal reason on the matter,, budget and worth,,
If you want a perfect night photography No other can compete Nikon. It's just because of higher ISO
bigger sensor in terms of APS-C too
I am a Canon shooter but always thought Nikon cameras looked better. Even amongst Canon cameras I love the more pro look of the 7D and 5D lines but I could never see myself using a camera that does not have a fully articulating screen (at least not as a main body)
These models have a fixed screen intentionally, as part of the tough build of the body.
Lovley video , what i do not understand is if you see color as you say you do , why start with Nikon , i mean Nikon makes technically best image , technically .
But Technically best does not mean looking best to media consumer , enter Canon Color Science , witch is not even Color science , its Light/Shadow science .
The Biggest difference between Canon and Nikon is not Colors , picture can be Black and white i can still tell you what is Nikon and what Canon .
Its about Light and Shadow , Canon flattens the image .
Same thing Studio lighting does , no shadows , everything filled with light , flattened . That is what Canon does . Its the biggest thing it does .
You can do it on Nikon and Sony as well , as long as you know it , most dont .
So i ended up using Sony and flattening images in Post ,then i said , Jesus chist just get Canon it does that automatically , so i got Canon .
Now i sometimes miss that Dynamic Range , but it save me lot of time
You made a good switch. Canon is far superior to Nikon, that's why it's the bestselling camera brand in the United States. Stats just came out today. The color is better, always has been, the glass is far superior, Canon doesn't break often like Nikon does. Canon has never had a focus issue, where Nikon seems to have them with almost every mirrorless body they've put out. The menu is more complicated with Nikon. And let's face it almost all pros who shoot for a living, especially photojournalists, use Canon. It's just better.
Rebecca Sony is coming?!
Nikon is going for the juggler with the soon-to-be-released Nikon Z 35mm 1.2 lens.
GO CANON
Nikon professional services is free
wow
Ok, I really don't understand the file size thing. Not like Canon can magically produce the same raw file size with the same resolution and quality.
Nikon turn around is about 6 weeks for a camera repair!
Sorry but i totaly disagree ! Nikon colors are great to switch to an other brand ! Maybe this is a good advertise for canon
Tiny bit bummed you left team Nikon 😉😊
I don't have brand loyalty, it is self-limiting.
you switched cause our surname matches the Brand!
😥 when you use NIKON you're BECCA CANNON
NOW YOU HAVE TO CHANGE NAME INTO " BECCA NIKKON"
😁😇
Canon is good for motion pictures as Nikon is for still.
I love the Collors on the Nikon! They are more realistic then canon. Canon is to warm... And the prices are cheaper than Canon but the lenses are sharper from Nikon 😅🤷♂️ Both ystem are good, but a real photographer never change to another Brand!
Also Autofocus... Nikon don't have fancy eyeaf, and b.s like Canon, but it nails af all the time, and acquires af super fast.
Any Canon user can stand next to me on wedding shoot and compare after.
Canon will fail every time no matter what body and lens you got. My D700 with 80mm-200mm there isn’t a canon that delivers type of quality Nikon brings on!
Nothing against Canon users. But let’s face it.
I own them both. Nikon D700 and Canon 5D markiii huge difference in two cameras. But Nikon being 12.3 MP I still get amazing pictures that I never get out of Canon 5D.
Please share one camera from canon that truly can be compared with Nikon D850? guess what there isn’t one.
And yes true photographer will never change gear due to convenience. You saw other people and your hubby using it so you changed it.
And Nikon is legend when it comes to Cameras. Canon isn’t a bad camera. But you can’t compare father and son!
@@off-roadingandgermanshephe5360 would you recommend Nikon D850 for someone getting into photography? Or more for professionals?. Would it be too complicated to use for someone who is starting?. Thanks in advance.
Jose Sebastian
Hi Jose,
If you have been using Nikon and you’re familiar with them. Believe me it isn’t a rocket science brother. You will be fine if you have money to spend for it. Out of 100 only 10% people truly understand photography. Rest is just following each other.
Yes it can be difficult camera especially if you never used FX (full frame) before. Plus D850 is too expensive to start with. If you just getting in to photography I strongly suggest get D700 if you’re just trying to take Pics.
But if you need Video capability then D7100 or D7200, Just know they are crop sensor cameras.
My suggestion for startup is D300 or D700. I was on wedding shoot another day. And 18 years old kid was holding D850. But he didn’t know anything about the camera which is why they hired me to shoot for them. Guess what I was using D700 which is 10 years older then D850.
But still a lot of people recommend beginners to start with shitty cameras like D3300 or D5000. Why? So they can outgrow them and spend more money to switch later. Start with bigger camera you don’t have to buy the newest bigger camera buy older ones they work perfectly fine.
Crop sensor two cameras. D7100 or D500
Full frame two cameras D700, D850
And mirror less Panasonic LUMIX Gh4 or 5 whatever you can afford.
Don’t spend your money on expensive gears you can get same results aslongest you pair them with right lens.
All these people here want to talk about how canon is better. No it isn’t they both perform well I own them both but I use 5D Markiii as back up. When I know for fact many people on CZcams will tell you opposite.
Can you please share your experience with Nikon and what exactly you’re trying to do with a camera? What type of work you are looking to get out of it. Or just a hobby.
If it’s for fun and family. D700 all day pair that baby with nice lens and you won’t regret it.
If you want video capability then buy D7100.
But if you’re true professional and looking for the best out of the best and you have money for it. Nikon D850 it’s one of a kind camera. Guess what canon or any other brand does not have anything like this beast.
Simple answer if you have money to buy it. Get it brother you can learn it once you get your hands on it. Practice makes you perfect.
Everyone was beginner at one point. You can’t mess up you know why because camera will not take good picture so you will dig and read how to use it so you can take good pics and that’s all learning process.
Honestly, I Don’t consider my self professional. But guess what I have been making living out of it for past 10 years with same gears I added cannon 5D about 3 years ago and I regret it!
Should have waited for D850.
but I will switch canon 5D with Nikon D850 soon. They are on sale at the moment.
My take is Nikon color lacks contrast and washed out colors..one persons opinion
Omg u loved canon soo much that u named urself as canon..great😛
Nikon NPS is free (pro services). It’s called research. 🤦♂️
I want to be a divorce photographer. You think there is any money in it?
There is of course!
It's just a little bit harder finding clients
Marriage is a racket in the USA. That's the main reason I do not wish to do wedding photography. Most grooms have NO IDEA of the financial and legal implications of what they are getting in to.
Plus your name is cannon so…
When you look at colors through the Nikon primes, there's no comparison between Nikon and Canon. Canon is trash.
Jesus Christ, last if the cause, slow down and just talk compose your thoughts
I don't know why but women always shoot on Canon and they seems to like the washed out high key looking images Canon gives...even though Nikon has better colours!
Because they are women’s lol! Nikon is too complicated OMG.
Quality baitpost right here! 👌😆
I just assume people get canon as it's a popular brand name and most people only like popular things. I'm new to thinking about getting a profesh camera, nikon and canon were looking good in shops. Ratings were high for both. A lot of Canon worshippers will pretend they don't know how to use a nikon. I tried listening to this video, but you talked too fast and nasally. Would have been better to show visuals from both cameras?
.... why not go directly to Sony? the detour via Canon costs only unnecessary money!
Leo Did you even watch the video..jeezes she explained it why
Paul Maka-Kea: Yes: Color and file size, color and file size, color and file, .... 😂😂😂
Traitor!!
nikon just sucks for no reason it just sucks!!!!
stop saying "like" so often. Didn't finnish the video for that reason.
