Are Iron Maiden teasing SOMETHING? | Alexander the Great post reaction

- Iron Maiden just posted a picture on social media with a rather cryptic message, clearly teasing something… and we may actually find out what exactly it is very very soon.
So yeah, as a part of their usual Music Monday routine Iron Maiden social media accounts all posted the same image with the caption "The devil's in those Great details... ⚔️"
Now, for those who don’t know this image is from the official artwork for the Future Past Tour’s live rendition of Alexander the Great, which the band has finally performed live last year for the very first time since it was released all the way back in 1986, and which Iron Maiden and have been begging the band to play live since then.
And so of course naturally, I, just like most Iron Maiden fans, who know how much this band likes to tease their fanbase and leave small clues and hints for all of us to decipher, stared at this image for a good chunk of time trying to find at least any difference from the original… especially since for some reason this time Iron Maiden posted a much… MUCH more hi res version of the artwork compared to anything posted by the band before.
And so to spare you some wasted time I can officially state that no, there are absolutely do differences between the new one and the one we saw on the backdrop of the Future Past tour… but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have anything to speculate about.

Nahhh, they aren't gonna play Alexander The Great in Greece because in our country, there is a majority of people who love their country too much and Maiden don't want to support it. That's why they always like making references to Alexander The Great when they play in Greece, without actually palying the song, that's a great way to tease those fans. I expect that Dickinson's plan to make the Greek fans happy would just be the song about our mythical creature as mentioned in this video, and a live performance, but of course, without Alexander The Great in their setlist. It hurts but it's the truth. But personally, I would be just as excited if I was able to witness songs like Stranger, Caught Somwhere in Time, Wasted Years and Heaven can Wait live.
At this point I would very much appreciate a DVD from The Future Past Tour. Seeing all those Somewhere in Time songs played live in 4k would be epic. With the post of Alexander Eddie, I don't think they are announcing anything. Just posting a cool picture of Eddie (although I might be wrong).
I think its always fun to speculate. Hopefully its a new song and album coming! Thanks for posting your views..love your channel!

if they need to include, or even replace a song they did on the European leg of the future Past tour, they can remove Iron Maiden, and throw in The Parchment. Some people might say "Shyeah, right! Iron Maiden is their signature song!" The Parchment is awesome! One of the best songs in the band's history!
Agree with adding The Parchment, a tragedy it's not being played! Maybe not drop Iron Maiden though, as that would be sacrilege! But Can I Play with Madness I would not miss.
@@metaleeca2483 Yep! CIPWM is not one of their best songs ever, while The Parchment is!!! I never really liked the song Iron Maiden. It is just meh! There is no great Smith/Murray solo in the song. In my opinion, i wish they would forever remove it from their setlist!

I'm going to be at the first show for the 2024 leg of the tour in Perth Australia and if they don't play Hell On Earth then, I'll be leading the riot there.

Was just going to post the same! Drop ‘Can I play with madness’. Such a weak song compared to everything else on Seventh Son. Infinite Dreams would be amazing, but I gather it’s got bad memories for Adrian. I’d even go so far as to say drop the Trooper as well. It’s been played to death on every Maiden tour ever.
Stratego should have been played during the 2023 tour. I agree, Death Of The Celts was not that exciting.

They are doing a tour of number of the beast, piece of mind and killers only.
The only good excuse I could have to miss that tour would be if I died.

Wow you are such a detective, the Medusa thing is an amazing finding! Indeed that could be a single before the album (like Eldorado) or maybe just an unreleased track before a double live album. I have not realized 2025 will be 50 years anniversary, they will for sure do something special.

Senjutsu literally has a Japanese title and Samurai Eddie on the cover but it's still not about Japan. They're not releasing a concept album about a civilization but if they do, hoping for more Mandrake Project type shit rather than Senjutsu
Even if the whole album is not about Greece, with just one or two songs about it, that's enough, along with a cool Eddie in an ancient Greek uniform! Count me in!

No way they replace Hell on Earth.
Perhaps move it somewhere else and put something a little more faster as the first encore, perhaps have Trooper first then Hell on Earth with Wasted Years last
I think it's worth noting the shield directly references Aegis, which belonged to Zeus until he gifted it to Athena. She then temporarily gifted it to Perseus and when he gave it back, she put Medusa's head on it. Athena and Perseus are both children of Zeus and Alexander the Great claimed that was also a child of Zeus even though it is historically known Philip II of Macedon was his father. Aegis however is also sometimes depicted as an animal skin which is shown to be worn by Alexander in the Alexander Mosaic in Pompeii. Maybe the picture is a different interpretation or it is just to emphasise Alexander's hubris.

It is so confusing. They also teased playing Deja Vu at the end of last tour... but I don't see any room for it on the setlist. No way you can get rid of Caught Somewhere in Time, Stranger in a Strangeland, Alexander the Great, Wasted Years, and Heaven Can Wait. Although I am fine dropping Wasted Hears or Heaven... I just don't see that happening. If they got rid of any of the other 3 I will be really saddened. I will be at Chicago, and Pittsburgh.
Actually just looks like debut Eddie with his wild hair to me, referring to the title track. Given that debut, Beast, Piece, Seventh Son and Fear are the albums represented on this tour other than the main events of Senjutsu and Somewhere in Time, that’d be my main bet.

I hope the Future Past tour will come to Athens, next year! If so, then we will definately have a live release of the song and/or video. Regarding the shield, Achilles shield - made by the God Ifestos - had the face of Medusa. Alexander was fascinated by Homer's Iliad and Achilles was his all time hero. So Alexander's shield had Medusa in the center and sculpted pictures of Achille's Troy battles around it

Hello! The truth is that probably doesn't mean nothing, because, if you take a look at the ancient and real representation of Alexander The Great, he appears with Medusa's head on his shield, like Eddie does, so probably its just a realistic detail, but great video Man!!!!
I don't know if its actually a reference, but then i remember that in the Legacy of the Beast '21 tour poster artwork (released in 2020), there was already a WOTW reference

I know Iron Maiden does a lot of hints and stuff before new albums, but I believe this is nothing to speculate about. I think they just uploaded a high res version of the backdrop because it’s cool, and most people might not have noticed the

i hope it's the live DVD but it probably won't be as they will probably wait till the full tour is done before releasing it. i know all fans have their opinions on songs for me Death Of the Celts was amazing live the musicianship in it is amazing. for me Alexander the great, hell on earth, death of the celts were the top 3 songs on the tour

I don’t think it’s a new single or album….. yet. I think there will be 1 or 2 songs swapped in the Setlist for this year, maybe a slightly minor different stage production too. We’re probably getting stratego back and either cutting the prisoner or death of the celts from the set.

Everybody here is hoping for a new album, song, or a DVD of the future past tour, but I honestly just hope that they will announce more tour dates, especially in Europe since I live in Romania 😭🤘

Mirror theory doesn't check out, because other Eddies at the shields aren't mirrored. They're just like they are on the album covers. It is likely just an error on the artist's part
