Biffa becoming very close to making the strongest shaped road to enter the airport
to be honest, it does kind of look like a uterus,
... if you squint.
Watch much RCE? 😂

I think the new train line area to get the cargo station working should be called Horky Borky Junction
Jiggly Wiggly for an alternative.
Winky Wonky for a second alternative.
You could probably save yourself a lot of pain by joining those 4 one-way tracks into a single 2-way once they exit the underground tunnel and that should simplify your junction by halving the connections.
It used to be the Forest Airport, now it's the DeForest Kelley airport. ;)
I saw what you did there 😉😁
Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor, not a town planner
Love this comment!
That rail junction for cargo is a mess!! If you think about it you already have two lines going in & out of those tunnels, simply send one track in one direction to join the mainline and the other in the opposite direction to do the same, you can replicate this with the inbound lines to the cargo hub to, a split approach. In the middle, cross the lines via a bridge or tunnel. Job done!!
Good luck with taxiways going through aircraft stands Biffa, they have habit of waiting for the plane waiting in stands to taxi out rather than pushing through the taxiway and create taxiway jams most of time.
The airport hotel sits in the middle of its plot, but there is parking on one side and green space on the other, which is why it looks unbalanced and off-centre.
I think you should add some parkings around the main entrance. Can't wait for the next videos. Thank you
Good idea!
Yes Exactly! I wanted to see that too, like one branch of main road goes to a giant parking area.
Definitely some parking decks!
A.k.a. multi-storey car parks.
Hey biffa just a little tip you only find one control tower no matter how big the airport is, you don’t want two controllers giving different instructions to the same plane 😂
I like symmetry 😁👍
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Some airports have a new control tower but they also leave the old control tower standing. So they have the appearance of two control towers.
@s_k.99 actually no, larger airports often have more than 1 control towers for different runway confirgurations, the more striking thing that instantly comes across as "wrong" to me is the fact that the parallel runways are taking off and landing in opposite directions, which never happens
@@OCinneide that also depends, in the situation you are describing, assuming the "old" one you stating are out of use, it may serve either as a backup or just leave it standing like you are suggesting
@@probablyjay3449 yes, check out Dublin airport control tower.
I think chat wanted you to create a whole new artificial island but using a field in the middle of nowhere works as well.
I was a bit surprised you did the cargo roads before the tracks as those are more... delicate. Honestly I would have ripped out most of the existing ones but your solution looks deliciously chaotic.
Wow, that old factory is in a dangerous place. If a plane has trouble landing and goes off the grass, it would obliterate everyone onboard. Luckily, planes within the game fly absolutely perfectly with a 100% safety record.
I think you should have made the one way loops in opposite directions to each other so the trains can choose which they want and come out to the other side. It would also have made the entrances and exits a lot easier.
I think you did a great job with it being vanilla. I know I couldn't get anywhere near that myself. Great job ❤
Thank you! 😄
Love the layout of the airport, Biffa! 👍 Tell me: do you feel as if you're going down in being challenged playing C:S 1, as opposed to being challenged in playing C:S 2, where it seems harder? 😏
I was almost scratching my head at the train rails at the airport until a cargo train went thru and then it made perfect sense! Good job on you Biffa 🤩 Great build!
Replace the cargo airport train station fore the normal cargo train station, because the cargo airport train station is broken. If you have a cargo airport train station the trucks will not use the normal cargo train station
Here Biffa don't have a normal road connection to airport train station. So, trucks cannot spawn from/go to there unless they want to use air traffic. This is the only correct usage of that station, imo.
@@OlcayKaraday they can come frome the city to the cargo airport train station if the trucks go tru the large building infront of the airplane stands
Can't say I have that problem in my game (no mods.) Plenty of other issues with cargo distribution though!
@@mies1mies no they are not. At least in my experience. In my city, trucks don't drive through the airport building to go to train station. Even garbage trucks don't come to train station, I had to build one recycling center inside the airport area :D
Nice build, needs about 5,000 car park spaces but other than that, good use of space and I like the spaghetti rail junction! (They do look like that sometimes irl, it's a shame they tend to get clogged up in CS. Hopefully one thing that's improved in CS2. ACTUALLY when the time comes, it would be cool to see a video testing things like that, common traffic/rail/routing problems in CS, to see if they're still a problem in CS2.)
Hey biffa, You shouldn't have one runway for landing and one for taking off. Because they technically should be going in the same direction. You don't want taking off aircraft going straight towards landing ones. Very dangerous. So for some realism, I think you should connect. The runways on Both sides and Allow the airplanes to use both. For landing and taking off in the same direction. 12:00
I love the design of the airport but I think next time you build one. You should have the Crescent flipped. It allows the airplanes to have more space on the outside and the road to be less spread out on the inside. Like Sea-Tac Airport near Seattle. 6:00
Love the videos and can't wait for cites 2. Keep up the good work!!
Not according to the pilot who commented below 🤣
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylinesI'm a pilot too, that's loves studying airport layouts, so that's kinda funny. Either way, just some tips.
The train intersection is sooo unrealistic, but looks fun. With a bit of thought we can make a train-a-bout
This is a very nice build, Biffa! (Well, the railway approaches to the cargo terminal are a bit winky wonky.) Your Kelly Airport seems to me a lot more spacious than City Planner Plays' Mulligan International Airport in Verde Beach, and that's double plus good in my book!
Airport looks great, but you might want a road or two from your bypass into the main city? The only way to the airport from the middle is driving to either end to reach the bypass? I think?
As a rail fan, I officially say: this rail "junction" makes me cry
41:36 I nominate calling that unnecessarily complex and confusing train wye the "Hugo, wye?"
Nice 🤣
As messy as the railroad junction is, it's quite satisfying seeing it work
Typically a runway is bidirectional based on the wind at the time. You also see multiple runways running different directions on an airport for when the wind changes direction. All of this because airplanes take off and land into the wind.
Due to his love of symmetry, Biffa tends to run two runways in parallel as single use items. Likewise, I don't think the game can support crossing runways or aircraft crossing from one runway to another.
I love how I can turn up at the airport with my car and just park it at the runway or something. No idea what is missing there. 😂
That rail work at the end was pretty impressive, I know i'd give up as soon as I started, and it looked pretty neat for how complicated it was, pat on the back time.
I think that train line at the end of the runway should go underground and then come up at the airport station. One, I agree with you...I wouldn't want to ride that train...it'd be a little scary....but two, I think for the safety value. I mean the planes in the game will never go out of control, but if you roleplay it it puts passengers on a train at risk if a plan were to lose it's brakes and keep going. I mean, if you know who Fluffy is(Gabriel Iglesias), this happened to him...granted, he was on a private jet.
Hey biffa, can you give “I don’t care ville” a little love. It seemed like a one off to get to a milestone but now sticks out as something with a wildly different quality.
That cargo rail junction is absurd, but given the space and the fact that it's a game you did quite well.
Great content as always mate! So excited for CS2!
Same here!
04:07: When redoing that intersection, consider branching the bypass road off of the new main route after the hill. THis will add minimal length and will respect the terrain better. I would have considered bridging the train line under the landing strip, ala LAX over Sepulveda Blvd.
37:40 rail right away is priority & is usually flat with the cars going under the tracks. Guarantees overhead clearance for the trains.
I like how you have access coming into the airport that bypasses the terminal. When you go to the airport, you have to enter through a terminal (where ticketing and security is) and then go to a concourse. But you have metro and train going straight to concourses 😂 FREE FLIGHTS FOR EVERYONE!
English brekfest distric, coolbeans airport, toast trainhub, and "old tea town" across the water.
The airport and rode combined looked like an stethoscope 🤣
your best bet is to put the road on the ground and rejig the whole train line in that area. (you can put the bridge back up after the trainlines has been built.) the one thing screwing you right now is the giant curve around the rock. if you move it behind the rock you'd have a little more space and should give you some interesting design. (with the airport cargo trains).
Biffa, cancel most of the return stops of the metro line and close the loop, then create a loop on the other way.
A train station not hooking to the front of the airport is a grave mistake. (the game doesn't care but we realistically do care...)
For someone who has mastered the game so much, those airport connections might be the worst you ever made. Might I suggest you scrap the whole thing and start anew?
Why not a double roundabout for the trains? I mean one above the other. These need to be huge, true. But it will give trains the ability to go where they need without causing trouble to each other in theory. One being hooked up to the passenger terminals, the other for cargo. It might help the situation, it might also fail. But it might be at least a interesting idea to try out.
Airport is so nice! Good location, access for all, etc, etc. BUT... got enough train lines??? LOL
22:55
another windy path to the top would look great
22:44 I'm thinking that airport loop road would be a great place for an airport tram to bring people around to the metro and the hotels and stuff!
That train set up is ridiculous
Those rail junctions make me *flinch*. Derail central :v
20:41 Not a big deal but I believe your metro loop is marked the wrong way round with CW and CCW. 🔄
You could try going over the top and hook into the other side in the middle of the train junction, it should give you the space to have both go in opposite directions more smoothly
The gravel paths around the taxiways... use the paved paths with no decorations and you get even better results (see Imperatur's vanilla airports for example)
But the rail... um... yeah, mad as usual, but entertaining.
This is easily the single best and worst design of an airport in terms of usability and navigating that I've ever seen. It's hilariously awful to think of arriving to this airport by train then having to check in to get your ticket, go through security IN THE UNDERGROUND METRO STATION outside of the airport, to take the metro to the outer terminal to get on bigger planes. Or it somehow being more efficient to get yourself from the end of the city nearest the airport, across the river over to the train station at the other end of the station, to take the train to the airport, to then go through a separate security checkpoint following grabbing your ticket, to then have to take the Metro to the other side of the grounds, only to then have to be driven via shuttle to get to the smaller aircraft stands. As Real Civil Engineer would say: "This is definitely the work of an Architect." Bravo, Biffa. 😂
Actually, the metro is perfectly reasonable... plenty of large airports have multiple connections to public transport. You're not going to go through security at the metro station outside the airport... you're going to go through security somewhere inside the terminal.
Airports are the hardest things to build. I cant create a good airport no matter what i try
Practice and trial and error 👍😁
Steal some ideas from google maps. That guy has plenty of awesome airports. No idea where he gets his inspiration from.
15:35 so, one runway is for takeoffs and the other for landings?
I just had a stupid thought - with the airport being right by the river, how about a ferry express link to the Isle of Roy resort? :)
36:33 I wonder if it would've just connected to that road and the cardo would go in between to the plane section ?
Would also line up very nice with the rail.
Going from watching your cs2 video back to this just shows how much better cs1 is in my opinion. Graphics wise cs1 is more complete
De-Forrest - Kelly No "Bones" about it, is funny. I am Green with envy here. Also Just think how much easier it would have been if Trains and road cargo were switched in their placement on the cargo side of the airport.
It's a nightmare. It's always better to not have trains crossing the path of other trains; use over and underpasses to cross the tracks
39:56 why not have one of the two connections to the mainline run under the mainline and subsequent connecting loop to ensure better transit of trains from the cargo hub
This train junction is the most insane thing I’ve seen today 😂😂
I’d would add 2
Count them 2
More airstrips for landing and takeoff to help deal with the air traffic
And more cargo spaces for planes
Paint the aircraft black and put a yellow light on top because those taxi times be cray.
So we can all admit that biffa threatened the island and beech as engagement bate right? Well played sir.
You pulled off a miracle! I didn't think you would make all those connections in such a tight place!! Could you name it Green Tea Spaghetti Junction ???
Your horkey borkey train junction could have solved a lot easier with a simple railway round a out.
Put another lane in make it a gigantic airport so much space used by taxiways, get another strip in. Otherwise another ace episode!
That lake is a percular shape, to say the least, lol great video
What?
The hill in the middle of the bypass highway should stay. Use it as a natural feature and tunnel through it to create an interchange.
oh, my life, those power-lines cutting across the taxiway 🌩☠
32:26 you put two stops on the same side, like the yellow metro line
15:40 Oh no. Planes land in the same direction they take off due to lift
That is looking good Biffa
There should be multiple taxi way exits for the runway. That way something like a GA aircraft doesn’t have to roll to the end or turn around to exit the runway
Cargo trainstation looks complicated but it works, which is most important
I've always, no matter how many skylines videos I watch, felt like it's strange to have multiple runways running in parallel to each other.
They should be pointing in different directions to account for wind direction and therefore look more realistic
I do love your content tho Biff, keep up the awesome work
29:51 But they are taking off on the other side by the way you have the taxi roads setup.
Needs a train-a-bout @31:00
Thanks for the shoutout!!😂
Amazing build as usual. Hugo def deserves a big place to himself with all the jobs he does.
Time to become a tea villager. I can at least support you with a cup a tea a month with all the great content you provide! Cheers!!
Would it be Stupid to suggest if you going to build the Harbor/Railway connection at the Bottom of the Airport?
But if you do and that connection worked, one has to raise your train & road bridges!?
Or later you going to build the Harbor and Cargo Harbor the small beach cove.🤔
biffa your railway tracks gonna be jammed up. gotta free it all. allow dedicated airport cargo raillines for dedicated rail networks. split the passengers line from the cargo on the onset otherwise jam. allow internal cargo line free from influence of the air and land cargo lines.
We need a biffa beautify episode for hugoslavia
Would a train roundabout work to simplify the junctions? Or maybe have one CW one-way loop and a CCW loop so you're not forcing all trains to approach from the same direction?
Gutted I have to wait 6 months for the console edition of CSII... Kinda makes watching content difficult without become a pro at the game by the time it comes out haha
i think you should put one house at the station in the middle of nowhere. Just one.
as long as it works its not stupid
I would have torn up that "horky borky junction" and made a new one
As I remember, your title, Hugoslavia, is a pun on former country, Yugoslavia.
Could have created a rail-about around the rocks to allow the cargo traffic to get in and out from any direction.
ok cool but make sure you keep the sky line far way from the airport, for safty. also when you started building the airport you put the road coming done the middle that's not how airport are built please fix it, and make sure you put the cargo on this airport and not a different one please thanks lots
I think both the runways should have incoming and outgoing taxiways. Currently they are just doing one thing either land or takeoff as the stands point the planes to only one runway.
I feel like this train network is in need of a couple roundabouts.... XD
Finally ordered my Cool Beans Mug, I was pleased to note the reasonable shipping to Germany. I would like to see a return of the B mug, were they not moving? 25:28: Yah, that's what Bill's talking about
Thankyou for the support. My old merch partner just disappeared without a word hence the new setup. The B mug shall return! 👍
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Thank you for the many hours of vids and tutorials. I look forward to learning CS II with you. "(Your) old merch partner just disappeared ...", grrr >?
Every subway in the line needs power any cars to run the line! You keep leaving a subway without power and wondering why it has 0 passengers
Airport looks angy
How about using bridges for the trainlines near the airport cargo train station. It will be much more efficient. Because now it is a spaghetti.
Biffa I think you're awesome! But runways should always face the same direction, planes always take off / land in the same direction. Much love!
I don't think that's true. Or, at the very least, sometimes runways face in different directions. It might be that PARALLEL runways are always used in the same direction.
To be specific, planes always take off and land into the wind - so if an airport has multiple runways facing the same direction, planes will not take off and land in different directions (unless your local wind conditions are very strange). And although the game doesn't simulate this, runways and taxiways are not unidirectional... planes may take off and land in either direction depending on the wind, and the direction of taxiways will adjust to cater for that.
🎉
Finally under ten minutes ❤
Nice Video!
A bit of a nice mess. Love it!
You need to call the airport train junction Anxietea Loop
just build a tunnel with that last railway junction going to the right instead of that 4 way mish mosh in the middle...
I’m really happy that There is a console version of the game I cant wait to play it in 24 days Cities skylines II is gonna be fun 😃😃
