PS1 was pinnacle gaming. A huge variety of games (including timeless classics), no DLC or patches, no micro transactions, and tons of replay value. I miss the 90s.
Ah yes, I too love when games aren't patched and we are stuck with bugs, errors and improper balancing
@@steelbear2063 only difference is that PS1 games were usually released complete with few bugs. Of course, those games were simpler than what we have today.
@@steelbear2063ah there is better games on PS1 that even change yhe gaming scene in many ways. sorry but gaming this days is about live service shit like wow, lol anything online, microtransactions for progress, dlcs or lootboxes, you need internet to play games and the emphasis too much on esports makes the games boring and shit
For me the pinnacle was PS2, as it was basically PS1 but on steroids (better graphics and better games). After that everything went downhill.
@@steelbear2063 this is only good for multiplayer games but during that era most of the games are single player and most of the games that was released on PS1 are totally fix with mild bugs. They are also releasing complete games before with manuals and inserts.
And the best thing about the PS1 and PS2 era is there's no need for you to install/download games.
Right now if you buy a game you need to wait for how many hours and wait for it to finish.
Still have my original PS1 in working order. It is sacred among my console collection and easily my most nostalgic. This piece of hardware holds the best memories of my gaming childhood
what's your favorite game? what was your first game?
@@kingtimmy88
I know you didn't ask me, but my favorite PS1 game is Resident Evil 3, and the first one - that's a bit tough to remember, but I think it was Crash Bandicoot 1
I really miss the old days of PlayStation 1 and 2.
I still play those games
@@steelbear2063 Right on.
Me too, it was the best console era IMO.
god i still have my older brother PS1 2000 Console...
Yeah me too friend.
Best startup sound of any console ever.
My first console and what made me a Sony fan boy until now…… great memories with Tekken and Tenchu
Hell yeah Tenchu. The first one anyway
Tenchu! Now we're talking!!
I've cherished both my PSX and PSOne immensely. From Resident Evil to Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo and Legend of Dragoon, I keep some of the happiest and most vivid memories from my childhood.
Thank you for the 8:43 sounds. I got goosebumps, travelled back to my adolescence. What a great console!
absolutely satisfying, specially having gone through an old system with reading problems. "It loaded finally I can play"
@@trueleox that was pure adrenaline back in the day haha!
Interestingly, Sony did actually develop a console called the PSX. It was a multimedia system that also played PS2 games and was released only in Japan. Many people don't realise this and so still think the original PlayStation is called the PSX.
my childhood console 🥲 man what great it was playing Crash, Tekken, and many other great games 😊 truly iconic console
I wish I'd known you could undelete saves when I was a kid.
I wish I knew it like a year ago when I was 27
Games were so varied back then, as genre conventions weren't established; there was a lot of experimentation.
1:32 PS1 was my very first game console that I owned but I never knew this feature existed
I've had the PS1 for YEARS I think.. and for some reason I never got the proper equipment for it (cords, etc). When I look back on it, the ps1 had some impressive & pretty cool games.
Absolutely outstanding video many thanks I'm so glad I still have all my PlayStation 1 games still!🙂
My favourite system of all time and for a lot people too. I spent hours on that console and two of my favorite franchises were born in that system: Crash Bandicoot and Resident Evil. Thumbs Mr. Morgan.
I still have my PSOne 😁 Not hooked up to a TV atm, but that could change. My mom used to love its music CD-playing function; she always says she misses the visualizer.
I didn't know the trick about recovering data on the memory card - I'll have to try that.
4:20 I'm so happy that you used the Demo1 intro
Sega Dreamcast facts next please. That console needs some love.
Agreed!
It's so strange that this is classed as a history lesson....😓 I remember first ever playing it like it was yesterday!
Gosh, the demo disk video really brings back memories...
I had a n64 before the ps1 and then when I saw the intros to RE2 and Tekken 3 it blew me away how much a disc can hold. Left the 64 in the dust...
1:32 so many little brothers would still be alive today if this was widely known 😭
I love the startup music so much that I've had the Playstation 20th anniversary theme on my PS4 for most of its existence.
This is my first console and what built my interest in video games in general.
Word...
I remember playing Metal Gear Solid for the first time in 1998 or 1999 and I was really confused with the X meaning cancel and circle meaning OK. Back then I didn’t know the meaning behind it. Btw that PlayStation 1 startup sound still gives the nostalgia chills everytime.
I absolutely can't get enough of your fact videos, so nice to have on in the background. Thank you for doing them 👍
8:43 who else drops whatever they're doing to just sit and listen to this epic startup. When this played at the end of one of the levels in Astros playroom I almost cried
Excelent video!! I spend more hours that I like to admit listening to music in the PSOne watching the animations hahaha
I was slightly late in the game when it was new but I didn't get my first PS1 until the Christmas of 1997. I wasn't exposed to Resident Evil until the Directors Cut (The good one) at the age of 14. The first 3 games I got for it were Hasbro's Frogger, Tekken 1 (Greatest Hits Version), and MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero.
4:23 that music gave me goosebumps
Man, time sure flies.
The synthesiser used on psx intro sound was the Roland D-50
1:32 glad to see more people play tail concerto
Love the demo disc music in the background! Nice touch :D
Nice another ink ribbon 😁👍
Like too see one on gamecube and og xbox
I always get childhood flashbacks every time i hear the ps1 intro.. feels like it was just yesterday.😢
I had the PlayStation when I was little in ‘97. PS2 I got it in either ‘01 or ‘02. The PS3, got that in Christmas ‘07. Those were the times.
One of the best childhood
Seeing the OG Playstation with the AV outs... brings back memories man.
6:03 hey check it out!!! footage of the original falling head Licker scene they cut from RE2, guess they still had that in when they were showing it off at tradeshows.
One of the best gaming experience I ever had was from the ps1. Nothing really beats going from 2d gaming from the snes/genesis to 3d gaming from the ps1, It was so fucking magical. I remember still playing my ps1 and keeping me occupied up to my college because the amount of great games it has in it's library are just too damn many.
9:47 they've been using those 8 direction dpads long before modern controllers
No RPG? What a stupid policy. Especially during Golden era of cRPG. Oh and some od my favourite games of all times on PSX for example MGS, RE2 and 3
PSX is not PS1. It was a whole different thing. Closer to PS2 actually than to PS1
Yeah The RPG games is goat bro
Like mother 1 and 2 and 3 ( mother 2 is the japanease name and the original name of earthbound ) which is my favorive

@@steelbear2063 The PlayStation (abbreviated as PS, commonly known as the PS1/PS one or its codename PSX) is a home video game console developed and marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. due to Wikipedia
@@Krzemieniewski1
Well according to Wikipedia : The PSX is a Sony digital video recorder with a fully integrated PlayStation 2 home video game console. It was released in Japan on December 13, 2003.
So yeah PSX was a working title for PS1 and a lot of people call PSone the PSX, but it is its own product.
I'll always remember that christmas day when I opened my present and saw that beautiful grey box.
The background music is from the interactive sampler pack vol 3. 30 years later I still recognize it. The kid in me never died 😭
Late 90s and early 00s is best gaming era
My god that dance track from Demo 1 is pure nostalgia for me ❤
I love ur videos.. keep up the great work ❤️❤️
Such a good video, always enjoy listening to Kai's facts
The PS1 was the best console. Lots of storage space because of CD technology, great audio chip, and just enough power to force the developer to make a good game.
...I didn't know about the no RPG rule. Thank GOD that died.
Oh, the soft reset on saves? Wow....
You put the demo disk music as the background! You absolute legend
3:20 pretty sure it was actually 1 megabit rather than 1 megabyte of data. I remember in the 90's trying to interface the memory cards via a parallel port because you could put 16 memory cards on an unformatted 3.5" hd floppy disk.
That error code insignia at the end of the note are new for me...thanks
The PS1 also played movies in a short-lived format called "VCD." Also devs preferred the CD format because it was CHEAPER than cartridges with chips. A blank CD was a dollar while a cartridge with chips costed significantly more to produce.
That video was awesome man thanks for the info great channel x
Best 50 games of PS1 and best 50 facts about PS2
The CHILLS I got hearing PS1 intro sound 😭 Those days were the best days 🎮
The Playstation 1 had a huge impact on my life for sure.
Excellent video, thanks
Ooh thank you for this video!!
@3:27 It's one megaBIT (128kb) not megabyte. So smol.
I saw an original Silved CD of Castlevania Symphony of the Night in 2002, and played it for a few days.
I still have 3 or 4 pocketstations. There were a few games that I had that used it. Final fantasy 8 was what I used it with the most.
8:43-8:52 most beautiful sound
That matte black is sick!
great vid with some interesting facts! Thanks! As for a suggestion for another console to get the "50 facts" treatment please do the Sega Dreamcast!
Very cool video, as always. :)
That start-up sound!! So warm.
When you hear it, what game do you most remember starting after it?
Mine is either the creepy animal sounds of Abe's Odyssey or the MGS "doop doop doop doopdoopdoop" on the Konami logo.
That music, it's burned into my memory.i used to play my sampler disc every day because we only could afford just the system initially.
Cool facts video. Speaking of consoles, I think it would be cool to see a 50 facts video on the Nintendo GameCube. That was the one of the first game consoles I grew up with as a kid.
Thanks, great watch!
there's goes my childhood memory. ahhh... those were the happiest days of my life.🥰💝
I will always love playstation and the good old days i thought collecting games i havent played would be easy, its not and i still want all of them
4:49 - it would be awesome to have character's health and ammo status on this thing in RE games (kinda like on VMU).
The only problem - it's useless if it goes into the memory card port for there's no chance to observe it while playing...
1:05 Oh lord 😅 Most of those logos are...well...whatever you make of them
Forgot to mention that the X bottom it’s not really X it’s mean cross
So many memories of playing games on the PS 1. Still wish I kept my copies of the first 3 Syphon Filter games
Hm. I wasnt aware this debuted on my hs graduation yr. I remember my friend in college showing me tomb raider for the 1st time. Now my most treasured game. Tho my copy is on the pc
Number 1 fact: these were the days. The ps1 was ahead of its time. So much variety. I love my ps1 days more than now
Thank you Kai.
Please do Dreamcast and Game Boy, this was great!
Aw man I played with my PS1 until it didn't work no more and even after that I kept using it to play music CDs, I liked the special effects when it played music
I love the ps1 game but don’t have the console only have ps4 and 5 since I was not born during that time so I only got to play ff7 1997 on the ps5
Demo disc music in the background ❤️
I have one of these under my TV purely for aesthtic reasons ❤
Best startup sound ever
Eiffel 65 Italian PRIDE, that song is sick!
These are the kind of moments I wish to experience again, I love my Psx still. Thankful to my parents who fulfilled all of our wishes! Wish I could go back in that moment when I first powered on our playstation.
This video was really good. I would love to see a 50 facts about The PlayStation 2. The PlayStation 2 was my first console and it blew my mind.
I would love to see more PlayStation Facts videos. Thanks for Reading.
PS1 is my childhood memories. PS2 facts next please
tHE BEST VIDEO OF MY WEEK
Wow, there's so much I didn't know about my childhood console.
I still has one ps1 qith my own copy of all resident evils on it best console ever
its crazy to think all those logos could have been the one we know today! Epic
3:25 Wrong. The Memory Card size is 1 Megabit which is equivalent to 128 Kilobytes. If it's 1 Megabyte, you could store 120 blocks of game saves.
Wrong.
bits are speed, bytes are data.
Example
Megabit: download speed
Megabyte download size
3:25 The original ps1 memory card is 128kb
Ps1 memory card was not 1 megabyte but instead 1 megabit, which is 128 kilabytes
Ink ribbon, will you please review the tomb raider games (2013 version, rise and shadow)? Love your videos.
